I think that had a huge impact on the attendance. We did find a parking spot close to the festival but other people had to park way down the road past the bridge to park. The other thing that we noticed was that in the years past they offered little cups of free sauerkraut and we noticed that there weren't any signs stating you could even buy sauerkraut except for one place did did have it but it was hot and my fiance doesn't like hot sauerkraut she likes cold sauerkraut but they didn't have any of that. Also they had in the past cabbage bowling which was kind of fun especially for the kids I didn't see that either. We did spend a lot of money on the quarter game.. to help support the festival. We did purchase a couple of fried doughs also. Then we drove down the road to shortsville and ate at Warfield's and had a fantastic dinner. :-) because unfortunately Phelps hotel is closed..

You purchase a small souvenir wine glass with "Canadaigua Wine Walk"…read moreetched on it and you get a sheet with tear off tabs that gets you 2-3 tastings of wine at six different shops on South Main Street, plus several more with free food tastings. This takes place the first Saturday of every month, year round, from 4pm to 7pm. The shops are open for business and it is a wonderful way to experience downtown Canadaigua and sample over a dozen Finger Lakes wines. Downtown is adorable and chocked full of wonderful shops and restaurants restaurants: art galleries, accessories, clothing, florists, toy stores...it was so much fun. I wanted it buy things in nearly every place we went. This is a great way to experience the area. Highly recommended as an excursion from Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse or anywhere else. Well worth the trip.

We decided to try the pancake Sunday. We arrived around 11:20. We got through the line quickly. Their food is always delicious, but I feel like they pre-make everything so it was a little soggy/cold. I would say I was mildly disappointed. I get they're trying to cater to tons of people, but maybe there is a better way to keep things warm. I still wouldn't turn anyone away from trying them out. It's always a good time for the whole family. The new barn where you eat is also nice.

Entrance on Railroad Street had a much shorter line than the Union Street entrance. You get a tote bag, a wine glass and a tasting plate when you arrive. Wander for three hours tasting your favorite samples.. some vendors offered special discount coupons and a few places had items for sale.

For a local, non-municipality controlled fireworks display, I can't imagine anything better…read more Sunset Beach is a collection of cottages on Lake Ontario that is most densely populated for the 4th of July weekend. Many of the cottages are only good in the summer months, meaning mid-June to mid-August. It may not be much to look at, but they've got a couple of folks who know how to put on a fireworks show. They must spend thousands of dollars on fireworks, with their selection of color and explosion that lasts for at least an hour each year. There are a few of the paper lanterns/luminaries that float off into the lake. Not to mention the canon that fires every 5-15 minutes. No need to drive to Lyndonville and fight the traffic - just pull up a chair to your beach side bonfire and watch the colors reflect in the lake.

It especially came in handy this past weekend with the downpour. Wine court has lots of free samples. Don't forget to pick up a bottle and enjoy it with live music and fireworks show! I would like to see more food trucks to better support local businesses. Also, there were no recycling bins available and hope to see that improved for next year!
