We got a blueberry pop tart, and some raspberry scones, along with a chocolate covered vanilla cupcake. Yummy! The only problem is that Henry's is not just a dessert bakery - the store may appear tiny on the outside, but it's huge on the inside. In addition to the bakery, they got all kinds of candy and other goodies for sale. I gotta stop back in another day and try all the other good stuff inside. Plus, you can tell from the Rick Astley-inspired sign outside, Henry's has a great sense of humor. This is exactly what small business brings to the neighborhood. Stop by and visit Henry's Sweet Retreat - you'll be glad you did!

All of it was DELICIOUS! The small sundaes were huge! Kids could not finish them and at $7ish each hard to beat for the quality! I had an eggnog cupcake. I was not sure it would be good but whatever magic y'all put in it worked great together! The frosting was light and fluffy not too sweet not too bland. And the cake was moist, not crumbly, not heavy just perfect! Had a latte with soymilk because my belly does not care for milk in coffee. Local coffee company supplies the beans. They also have pretty much any kind of candy, pies, and sweets you might need and apparently they cater! Stop in you will not regret it...unless you do not like sweets and then I am sorry.

Now a nature sanctuary with trails, a play area, and lots of bird watching, Woodend Sanctuary acknowledges this so we all can grieve and vow to fight for equity for all today. If you go, there are two small free parking lots- one by the kids area and one by the mansion. It's open to the public for free. There's a nature-themed playground with two restrooms, trails, and areas to learn about nature.

Woodend was the perfect venue for our daughter's wedding reception. The combination of elegance and…read morenatural beauty created exactly the atmosphere the bride and groom envisioned. It's remarkable that such a peaceful, secluded setting exists inside the Beltway -- with no traffic noise and stunning scenery everywhere you look. The grounds photographed beautifully, and guests continually commented on how unique and special the venue felt. We especially appreciated how the layout allowed guests to enjoy both the lively celebration and quieter moments throughout the evening. The planning process was smooth and well organized. Beatriz, the rental manager, was responsive, professional, and wonderful to work with, and the venue's excellent online resources made planning especially easy. Everything about Woodend reflects thoughtful care and professionalism. While Woodend is certainly a premium venue, the experience absolutely justified it. We would recommend it without hesitation to any couple looking for an elegant wedding in a truly beautiful natural setting.

Bethesda Country Club - 18th hole. Beautiful par 4 with a reverse camber fairway. I love that the clubhouse and green open up as you walk up the fairway.

I am always happy to visit this club. The course is excellent. It has a smaller footprint than…read moremost, but they truly maximized the space. The greens and green surrounds are some of the best. The fast green speeds on a daily basis function well with the slopes. One rarely has a straight putt here. The surrounds have a great mixture of tight fairway grass, thick rough, and deep bunkers. Each hole has playable spots which make strategy an essential part of scoring well here. Some people may think it's too short, but I think that adds to the level of thought getting around this track. Many times driver off the tee is not the play, and that is also pin specific. Not a lot of courses around here get to that level which is why I always have fun. I have many favorite holes. The par 3s probably stand out the most in my mind. Each has a different type of elevation change and each asks a different question off the tee. They are just so good. I also love the par 5 4th hole. It looks like things kick left off the tee but there's some subtle slope that keeps your drive going straight. After that, the second shot is blocked by a tree and a well placed bunker on the right, and everything kicks left. Then the green has one of the deepest bunkers guarding short left. Essentially, you have to take on some risk not matter what. What adds to it is how getable that second shot is with a perfectly placed tee shot. That hole has so many layers. The driving range is good. I just need to set up my Trackman app the next time I'm here to get the most out of it. The putting green is awesome. So many ridges running through it, just like you would see on the golf course. There is a chipping green and bunkers towards the back of the parking lot as well. It's little used but should provide any shot you need from 75 yards and in. The members have been welcoming and fun to get to know. I have been here about a dozen times and only had one not so great interaction. Luckily we skipped a couple of holes to get around them and continued to have a lot of fun that day. I haven't explored the clubhouse much, but the food I got one time was excellent and I loved sitting outside with our excellent server. I am sorry I forgot to get his name! It is always a treat to come out here. I hope to do so again in the near future!

We were in…read moretown for a family reunion and hosted a dinner party at SMI one evening that was among the highlights of the family weekend. Manisha and Prashsant, owners of Stone Manor Inn, were personally involved in making sure all went smoothly with our cocktail and dinner party, and it most certainly did! SMI is a lovely old country inn on 14 acres, I believe, with a number of different venues (indoors and out) for meetings, parties, and weddings. The rooms (7 in total) were eclectic, in a good way. All four of their largest rooms that we occupied were spacious, with king beds and spa tubs with separate showers. All were well maintained and clean upon check-in. We had no complaints. I'm not sure when we will return to the area, but when we do, we will not hesitate to return!

I was on the fence to book this place given its hefty price tag, and glad I went for it and completely agree with the glowing 5 star reviews. The bubbly host Manisha is very warm and welcoming. She cordially gave us a 20 min tour around the property, which was built in 1908, and even gave me a bonus tour of the other rooms afterwards. She kindly answered all of our questions and didn't rush us. The Peacecock Room is the most spacious and best room (aside from the bridal suite), elaborately decorated in peacocks. We loved it! The little touches like the handmade soap, a set of wine glasses, and a wine opener made the stay so memorable and special. While the rooms aren't temperature controlled, the electric flameless fireplace kept the room warm. The double capacity jacuzzi was perfect for my hubby and I and even had lights (some of the other rooms have smaller jacuzzi, so be sure to check). The rooms were clean minus a couple of lady bugs and stink bugs (which is too be expected out in the country). Dr. Fauci's assistant stayed here and Manisha informed us of the extensive sanitation process, even the pillows and decorations are quarantined for 6 days! The backyard is well groomed and really spacious with a nice patio and heat lamp, which kept us warm sitting outside in the frigid winter. Our dog loved running around! You can see the stars and constellations really well. It would make a great wedding venue! The Christmas decorations around the property are really nice. The owners really go the extra mile and put a lot of TLC into the property. The 6 course breakfast is delicious and bursting with flavor. Between the veggie quiche, cheesy potatoes, scone, pancakes, yogurt, and fresh OJ, I was stuffed! The fresh butterscotch scone was divine and devoured my mine and my hubby's! The cheesy potato had a nice spicy kick. Everything was so fresh and delicious. All the courses come out at once on a large tray. While my hubby and I chose to sit at the communal table (the chairs are roughly 6 feet apart), you can take the tray up to your room. Manisha and her family greeted us and thoroughly explained the dishes and chatted with us for a bit, even her son made an appearance! The bed and breakfast has a nice bar with wine, cider, and alcohol based on an honor code system. Water and soda is complementary, they even had Coke 0! The complementary fudgy brownies by the breakfast area during the day were sweet and tasty. Again the little complimentary stuff gives this bed and breakfast a nice resort feel. Very relaxing stay and looking forward to coming back!
