Non alcoholic beer

Loveeeeeeeed Babycat! Cute story, cozy space, great food. The smash burger was delicious, fries were fine not amazing. I tried a non alcoholic beer that was very good. It was so nice to enjoy the food and drink outside! Love that the train goes right above.

Stout and raspberry wheat

Awesome neighborhood brewery - we had the raspberry wheat and a stout. Comfy outdoor seating options with a mix of sun and shade, and things for the littles to do. Parking is extremely limited. We'll be back!

Good little brewery tucked away by the railroad. Friendly, affable staff and great service, generally. It'd be helpful if they had more than one register or card reader, particularly when it gets busy. The brewery hosts trivia on Wednesdays which I appreciate. The ambience is generally good; people behave themselves, but I haven't been there during stroller park season yet. The food truck is amazing. Rocky and his staff turn out great smash burgers rather quickly considering the volume of orders. Lastly, the beer, IMO is just...ok. There's nothing particularly head turning but there is a decent variety. I find lesser versions of styles I like here, but, combined with the aforementioned vibe, food service, and location, still makes for a good visit.

I checked out babycat in Kensington on a Friday night and it was a good time! The place is very family oriented with a small kids playground, dogs, and even had live Irish music! The beer itself tasted great, but the cocktails were a little hit or miss the ratios weren't very consistent between drinks. Prices also felt a bit on the higher side for what you get. Still, if you're looking for a fun, family and dog friendly brewery with good beer and a nice environment, Babycat is worth a visit.

Awesome - how did I not know about this place before? Great beer, but they also have fantastic cocktails. The Pineapple Express was super. The outdoor space is so lovely, with plenty of shade and fans. The server was very nice as well. Plus live music??? Fabulous.

Such a great, upbeat  local brewery! Kids friendly, welcoming staff, and live music. As a cat lady, I was initially drawn to this place after seeing "Cat" in their name. And, I'm glad I finally visited here with my partner who also loves cats and beer. The weekend afternoon was a bit busy, but you could still find a seat and enjoy beers. A hipster, fun, cat-themed atmosphere. They have various types of beers, so I'm sure you can find the one you like. Also, I liked the cat-inspired names of each beer. Oats Malone (nitro oat ale) was creamy and rich. Calico was a bit malty and smooth. There are some food options like pizza. The price is decent, not crazy expensive. We'd love to come back and try more beers!

Nice brewery in the area with plenty of outside space and good food truck set up outside . They have different events during the week as well. They had trivia night when I went there and it was a very pleasant time .

What a wonderful find in Kensington. This is an awesome spot with plenty of beer options and a purrrfect amount of cat flair. While the spot is very kid-friendly, BabyCat has an adults-only balcony. The service was quite exceptional bc the beertender was very chatty and provided plenty of information about the brews when necessary. Also, the bar patrons were pretty friendly. BabyCat seems like a place where you can visit alone and spark up a conversation with a couple of strangers. I hope to visit again in the near future and try more of what BabyCat has to offer.

Beer, service, ambiance was all great! We were visiting our daughter from California and wish there were places like this there. Such a fun & chill vibe!

Catnip Bender
Celina G.

A neighborhood brewery that makes you feel right at home. I'm not a beer drinker, but I did enjoy the Catnip Bender. They had me at "flavor bouquet" in the description. I also tried the Cat-Tails, BabyCat's own mixed drink creation, in the raspberry ginger flavor, which I did find quite strong. They describe it as having the equivalent of 1.5 shots of 80 proof alcohol. So, if you're not in the mood for beer, they have some other things on the menu. On top of that, very nice service from the bar. My friends and I got dinner from the food trailer ("The Cattie Shack") on the premise, which offers cheeseburgers, falafel burgers, wings, and fries. A big heads up if Steeze is selling burgers there: expect a lot of people! BabyCat's Instagram always has updates on food. A big selling point here is the patio. It was a warm evening in March and it was a great place to enjoy the weather. The top deck is also a unique aspect of BabyCat where you can hang out above the patio. Another heads up: they welcome kids and local families do love hanging out at the brewery.

Shared a "big cheese" cheese pizza. It has a crispy and slightly chewy crust with a tangy tomato sauce, basil, mozzarella and parmigiana cheese. Comfort food at its best. Others tried pepperoni and veggie pizzas which were also praised. For my beverage of choice went with the Stella Artois (non-alcoholic as I had a long run the next morning). Silver Branch's selection of foods and beers was just the type of place I was looking for, and as icing on the cake, that evening, a local pet adoption center was going to have some dogs outside you could meet and that hopefully some locals would adopt into a forever-home. Ordering food and drink from any of the many tables inside is super convenient. Each table has its own QR code that you can scan, to bring up their menu on your phone. Once an order is placed, the food and drink come out very quickly, and a running tab will be kept until you choose to close it. I enjoyed my stout (a can pour) with flavors of coconut and almond, and it paired nicely with my Southwest Salad. It wasn't obvious to me, as a first time customer, that you have to get your silverware and napkins from a station a elsewhere in the large room, but luckily, I had overheard someone else commenting on that before my food arrived. The only possible problem might be parking on busy nights. For example, on this night, a concert was going to start nearby; the dinner crowd was larger than usual, and more parking spots in the area were taken. Other than that, food and drink are very enjoyable here, and I'd certainly come back if I'm in the area again.

The beer itself is quite good, and the bathrooms are clean. No complaints there. The issue is atmosphere, or the lack of it. Service was efficient and accurate, but the bartenders ranged from detached to noticeably unfriendly, which doesn't exactly set the mood. There was a live band the night I visited, and they were good. They were clearly trying to get something going, but it just didn't take. Part of that may be the crowd, which I realize a brewery can't fully control. But it's a strange fit for the location. Seven Locks sits in an industrial park in a more modest part of Rockville, and the clientele skews heavily toward families who've come with kids, tablets, and dogs, and who aren't particularly interested in talking to anyone they didn't arrive with. There's nothing wrong with that, but it doesn't make for a lively bar experience. The result is a place that has the ingredients for something great but feels oddly joyless in practice. I'll probably try it again hoping something clicks, but right now it's a hard place to love.

I'm going to be honest.. this was not really a place that I think is appropriate for a show, a drag show at that. Lots of kicking, spinning, vogueing - and it was distracting to getting my drink down. I wish the space was more opened for the event. Additionally, the parking wasn't the best either. We parked on the street, about 0.2 miles away and were pleased to see there wasn't a charge posted on the meter. Almost an hour into the bingo show, my friend and I were hungry, and did not want the bags of chips floating around 7 Locks. So we left without finishing the game and went to go settle those hunger sounds. Overall, I don't think I would return to 7 Locks. There were a few missed moments and to top it all off, the crowd wasn't the most inviting either, as I asked a gentleman at a single table by himself, if the seats were taken (as my party of 2 stood for the first hour), and his response was that he would "let me know" once he finishes his pizza. Just - kinda rude in my opinion too.

The place is beautiful with high ceilings and gives a spacious airy vibe thats laid back. There are also some Maryland flags hanging tastefully, nice touch. I sat at the bar and was quickly greeted by a very nice bartender. I started off with the Hike the Alps Hefeweizen and it was exactly the kind of hefe I like, hoppy, flavorful and definitely not bitter. Excellent beer! I also had their noodle salad dish and this was surprisingly very good. Very light, with lots of spinach and veggies and it was tasty with no guilt! I next wanted to try either their Potomac Punch or Georgia Ave beers, and was torn about the two, so the bartender let me taste both. The Georgia Ave beer is a peach sour, and since its only Spring and not yet stifling hot, a sour wasnt going to work for me just yet. I tried the Potomac Punch and this was fantastic, its an American wheat beer and you could taste the fruity notes, so very good! I didnt want a full 16 oz, so opted for a 5 oz. pour. Churchkey itself is everything a great bar should be. The beer selection is absolutely unreal -- hundreds of carefully curated labels spanning every style, region, and flavor profile you can imagine. What sets it apart is that the staff actually knows the menu. Our server walked us through a few options based on what we liked and landed us on perfect picks both times. That kind of genuine expertise is rare. The tavern pizzas from the wood-fired oven were a wonderful surprise -- thin, crispy, and the perfect companion to a cold draft.
