It was the best decision I made!! The first day he took us on an amazing 4-hour hike inside the park, he showed us all of the extraordinary sites and also educated us about the very complex geological history of the park. On the 2nd day, he took us mountain climbing, which was the highlight of our trip!! Ethan's kind, encouraging and wise nature helped my son and I accomplish mountain climbing feats we thought were impossible! I HIGHLY recommend Ethan's services for anyone visiting Joshua Tree! The guided tours we took with him really made our trip adventurous, fun, educational and very memorable! Ethan has been guiding for many years and has a real passion for what he does! He's one of the BEST guides I have worked with!

He took us to beautiful parts of the park that we would never have found on our own. We are in our late sixties and hike regularly. Ethan designed a route that was a good match for our abilities; some elevation gain, walking up and over granite faces and between boulders. He was there to provide help if we needed but was also willing to let us sort out our footing on our own. He regularly checked in to see how we were feeling about the route. As we walked, he gave us a lot of information about the geology, plants and history of the park and answered all of our questions. I wI'll definitely book another adventure with him on my next visit to the park.

I think the most defining features of this campsite are the flush toilets and running water in the bathrooms. however there are no showers. there is potable water faucets scattered about the campground. there are many sites to choose from but after walking around the campground, the best ones are furthest from the entrance (like where we stayed at site 29) highly recommending site 29!!!! very secluded and not crowded next to your neigboring sites. close to the bathroom with no smell. the campground has a nature center open 8am-4pm on the weekends and has a Ranger present as well as other staff. there are hiking trails about 0.75 miles from the campground at High View Trailhead (walkable or can drive there since there's a parking lot at trailhead)

Sunset at Keys View: The view was great, but parking is extremely limited and poorly managed. Someone parked directly in the middle of the roadway, blocking traffic and leaving everyone else stranded. Camping & Stargazing: Set up camp at Ryan Campground, had dinner, and spent the night stargazing right from the picnic table. The Milky Way was directly overhead, and we caught numerous meteors and shooting stars throughout the night. Drawbacks: The main issue was a total lack of etiquette from other visitors. People were driving around late at night and shining bright white flashlights everywhere past 10 PM, completely disregarding designated quiet hours and ruining dark-sky adaptation. Overall, it is a phenomenal spot for astronomy, but fellow visitors lacking basic night-sky common sense can dampen the experience. Note: On the way back home morning, the park rangers check the annual pass / ticket as they are not when we went around 6.3O PM

There happed to be exactly 3 other people I saw in a four hour period exploring this erir but beautiful place. Just getting there is 1/2 the fun. Driving up from Palm Springs and gradually the desert and those that live there morphs into something very different. I wouldn't hesitate to return if ever in the area and highly recommend you... Go!

There was a visible to me roach problem on property. I counted at least 20 of these little critters by the walkways in front of the doors, in the rocks, by the cars etc.. I had gone to Pappy and Harriets for dinner and upon arriving back to call it a night (around 10:15pm) is when they were all out. Since it was dark I was using my phone's flashlight to to walk towards my unit. That's when I started to notice them. They were in the dirt, in the walkway and on the doormat. There was even one in the crevice of my unit trying to sneak in. When I flashed the light, I saw several of them scurry into the building crevices and being a prior Floridian of over 20 years, this gave me the major ick bc that means there is probably a huge infestation beneath the walls. They were nice and tried to move me rooms and on my way there I also saw a huge palmetto roach so I was like nope I'm done and loaded the car and did the 2 hour drive at 11pm. Staff was nice but seemingly they know this is a problem that comes up every so often. As staff admitted to me that the rooms closest to P&H and the parking lot have a bigger problem. They need to nip it so that people can stay comfortably at their motel. The weekend before, the motel was charging like 400-550 a night and honestly having that many roaches around property is unacceptable. Sadly after this, I can't come back. Would like to acknowledge that my 2 night reservation was refunded with no hesitation. Props to the owners for that.
