A sign said that the dueling piano bar would be open at 10pm. Everything else appeared closed. Garces is no longer handling the catering. The website sucks so I don't know what the deal with the T Street food is. It should have been a lively, hot scene rather than a desolate ghost town. I'd love to be proved wrong with this review update, but for now I won't be holding my breath.

They offered sample sizes of some of the food they plan to offer and it was nothing to write home about. In fact so much so that I'll leave the food details at just that. It's what I expect to be overpriced pub food (price list or menu wasn't given to us) and with several locations it didn't feel as if any actually offered a variety of food. Pub, pub, everywhere. The concept is there but T Street offers no form of originality that makes it worth going to in place of similar places. In fact, with the location in a mall I actually felt that the venue and placement was a bit awkward. While there is no place quite like it in Atlantic City I don't find that it'll be a location to really drive in visitors. Let's face it, AC is a dying city and well in need of attractions to bring tourists and money back into the area. Perhaps when it's completely finished it will better represent the vision. I personally felt the venue was one-dimensional and for the amount of space could've offered a greater variety of music/food to fit various preferences. For now, I can say the live music is a nice addition. In some places it was played so deafeningly loud that it was difficult to really sit, eat and converse if that's what you chose to do. However, If that's your scene you'll likely enjoy it but its also worth noting that the majority of music was country/bluegrass. The drinks were okay. There were no specialty drinks/menu offered but the bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable at preparing classics. As of right now this is not on my must do list for when I visit AC and doubt it will ever be. However, I will be fair and return when the venue is completely finished and possibly update my review.

It was more of a playful nostalgic environment rather than a place where I would eat, but for a quick strong cocktail or beer it was a fantastic hang out. There were several of us and the bar was slammed. Loved the Ms Pac-Man arcade game and the Godzilla pinball machine next to the dart board. The gender neutral bathroom was a disaster and loved it. The door had a posted sign as a warning, "One Urinal, One Toilet, One Lock". The walls and ceiling (yes ceiling) was plagued with colorful marker ink and stickers, basically graffiti. Was not sure if I was permitted to add to the decor, but I wanted too so badly. Surprisingly, the sink, urinal, and toilet was so clean that the white porcelain shined against the graffiti. The retro-inspired geometric pattern of white and black hexagons created an inviting tile floor. If you are visiting Philly, you gotta take a peek. Guaranteed this is a stop you wont soon forget.

I've been a frequent regular here for quite some time. This is a long review because I have a heap…read moreof compliments and then a serious complaint/request. First of all, it's important to understand that this place is literally our Blue Note. I don't say that casually, I lived in NYC for 15 years and was a regular at Blue Note. I am a massive jazz nerd and I live around the corner so I come here very often, but it's objectively far superior to the other jazz clubs in the city in terms of both booking and food. The music is a range, sometimes it's local (incl NYC) guys, but they also get a ton of the upper-middle tier, who are not household names, but are outright celebrities to jazz fans. Blue Note opts for the household names and won't book those guys, which is why Chris's is better. But just in the last 6-8 months, off the top of my head, I've seen Nate Henderson (at least 3x), Cyrus Chestnut, Eric Alexander, Emmet Cohen, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Joe Farnsworth, Peter Bernstein, and John Pizzarelli. At the same venue!! If you're into jazz you will understand how completely nuts that is. NYC could never. You would have to go to half a dozen venues and spend several business days on the subway to see that list in NYC. The food is also ridiculously good, reliably some of the best upscale food in CC imo. Frequently rotating menu (a good thing!), very creative, unbelievably good, and artistically plated. It is expensive, but if you do the dinner + show package it's much cheaper, and while the portions are not huge, you don't want to eat much more than that or you'll want to be lying down on the floor during the show. My complaint here is about the noise. Based on personal experience and some of the reviews I've read, there are people who don't understand that in the evening hours this is a ticketed music venue where people are here to see serious and often really well known musicians. A large portion of these musicians are not random local kids. There is a strong possibility that the person you're trying to talk over is very famous to people who like jazz. There is a cover charge because it's a music venue. There is a minimum purchase requirement because it's a music venue. If your intent is to have a full on conversation with your friends with random jazz vibes going on in the background, there are many other places in the city for that. Due to the acoustics of the space, when people are doing this even in the bar/high top area by the door, that sound carries and is overwhelmingly loud near the stage (as in literally it can overwhelm the music) and actively ruins the show for both the patrons and the musicians. It's super disrespectful. I've seen many shows that were totally ruined by this, and several to the point where patrons were cussing out the waitresses over it and the musicians were getting on the mic telling people to be quiet because they can't focus. I really wish they would include a request for people to keep talking to a minimum during performances in their set-opening announcement on the loudspeaker. It would be a simple way to set expectations ahead of time. This is the only reason for 3 stars - if they were to address this issue I would not even be able to give this place sufficient stars. 5 would not be enough. But that's how frustrating this issue is.

This year, the same friend rented out the entire place including two sets by the house band for a milestone birthday celebration. I believe they have catering packages, but in this case, our friends supplied the food while the venue supplied the beverages and took care of cleaning up. The chef's skilled hands were visible from my seat, as was his laughing interaction with customers who called him out to acknowledge his presence. That was fun. The limited choice of white, wheat or rye for this creation missed the mark. Those taters on the other hand, were excellent and the java strong, fresh and tasty. There were only three individuals involved in the play (unless you count the two individuals tasked with rotating the set) and they did a great job. While Lex Friedman and Mike D'Altrui gave their all to their parts, Pamela Wilterdink was the absolute star of the show! The theatre itself is quite nice - small and clean with a nice concession stand. The popcorn was very tasty and a nice touch.
