We always had a wet front walkway after a hard rain. After a long, hot, dry summer we had a really wet winter and started noticing some issues with loose tiles in our front hall of the house. Worried we were having foundation issues I called three companies to come for quotes. Rock structure was first and they told me it wasn't foundation yet but it would be and quoted new French drains. The follow up teams told me that rock structure was dead on right, prices competitive and not to waste my time getting more quotes. Imagine being told by other companies to go w the first people?? So I did...they were here in within two days, hand dug the drains 3 feet deep and cleaned up in less than three days. My neighbors waited months for another company to come do their drains because "it was too wet". My front walk and yard are dry...no matter how hard it rains...dry... no more loose tiles. I had a bid from them to dig 8' to install a sump pump. I was told they would bring in a track-hoe to dig and I planned on taking down my fence to have this done. When they showed up it was just 2 guys and shovels. I told the guy that came out to do the estimate we tried digging with shovels and it would not work so I was shocked to see just 2 guys with shovels to dig 8' deep. I was also told there would be a 3 year warranty on the pump and if anything went wrong they would come out to replace it. The paperwork/contract had listed as 1 year warranty. When i asked the guy about this he said he would take care of me if something happened because there is a 3 year warranty on the pump from manufacturer. I wanted it in writing and he would not provide it. He simply said "I promise we will take care of you." When I asked how much he would charge me when the pump goes out he couldn't say. He canceled the job saying they thought they only had to dig 3' because I had already dug 5' deep but over the course of last 2 years the rain and earth filled in the hold. So he was going to charge me $1600 to dig 3' and put in a sump pump but had no materials like the gravel needed or the cylinder the pump goes in. I would need 8 tons of gravel for this job and they didnt even have a truck load. This guy is full of it. I would not have let them dig a hole to bury a mouse. The guys with shovels had no clue, just there to dig and set a pump. I do not do business with anyone this way. Give estimate, stick to the plan, be honest, and above all DON'T BE SHADY!!! For anyone looking for help with drainage issues in their backyard, I want to just brag on this company. It is possible that Rock Structure might be the best experience I've ever had with a contractor. Their workers were extremely professional, they worked harder than any contractor group we've used. If they say "We'll be there at 8," a typical contractor starts working around 8:30...these guys were starting work at 7:55. The quality of the work is very good as well, and it was finished extremely quickly. And this was not a small task: one 50' long retaining wall, one 30' garden retaining wall, 50' of french drain, and a decent amount of leveling and adding gravel. All done in about 2 1/2 days.
