Chelsea is a beautiful neighbourhood filled with historic row houses and fancy businesses. Here you will find lots of hipster brunch stuff. Some chains as well. It's a perfect part of Manhattan just a little bit away from the hustle and bustle of Times Square, but well within walking distance. It's a lovely part of the island and although I'm priced out of living here anytime soon, I do love coming over here, and it's also next to most of the great nightlife and clubs. I don't love the food around here, but I do love the girls.

There is an irreplaceable energy in the mix of old-school tenement history, incredible street art, and some of the best food in the city. Whether you're grabbing a classic pastrami sandwich at Katz's or just wandering down Orchard Street, the neighborhood always feels alive and authentic. It has definitely changed and gotten trendier recently, but that gritty, creative soul is still very much there. It's the kind of place where you can just walk for hours and never get bored.

Leading up to the memorial are markers with key dates and milestones in FDR's life and the polio epidemic. I found the memorial visually appealing, interesting, and educational. A completely unexpected artwork installation that my friend brought us to see on the way back to…read morethe hotel. It is located in the 14th Street - Eighth Avenue station that serves the A/C/E and L trains. The installation is a series of miniature bronze sculptures showing people and animals in various situations. Art critic Olympia Lambert wrote that "the lovable bronze characters installed there are joined together by a common theme of implied criminality mixed with an undercurrent of social anarchy," but labeled them as "too cute", saying that this "undercuts the work's more critical edge." I am enamored with Tom Otterness's bronze artwork "Life Underground" which is enticing to get off…read morethe train to admire or while waiting for an eternity for the A train to arrive.  Tom Otterness's "Life Underground" world is very enchanting and cute as the sculptures resemble a crocodile crawling out from a manhole, little men holding coins, bags of money, giant feet, and a police officer. I believe it symbolizes a world living underground of a whimsical charm and many characters represents daily NYC life: a person crawling through a barrier gate for fare evasion only to be met with a police officer on the other side; homeless without shoes sleeping on a subway platform; a sewer alligator surfacing from a manhole biting a person; workers sweeping subway tokens; people sweeping piles of pennies; two figures holding a crosscut saw of an I-beam column; a couple walking arm and arm; a couple holding hands with goblets, and many more. Oh, how cute! As per Wikipedia, Otterness's bronze artwork "Life Underground" contains over 100 individual pieces strewn throughout MTA 14th Street - Eighth Avenue subway station of the A, ​C, ​E​, and L trains. I am intrigued with one work -- Thomas Nast Takes on "Boss" Tweed, 1871 inspired by a Boss Tweed cartoon that appeared in a periodical "Harper's Weekly" with a money bag head, "The Brains."

We loved the statue and also loved the park - a lot - and adds a lot of charm to the area. I have really nothing bad to say about such a lovely little place. And such a lovely statue within it.
