I did the 30 minute Jetski rental with a half price Groupon. They make you fill out some liability forms, give you a quick safety lesson, and then it's out on your own. There are some buoys in the water that indicate what points not to pass, but the area of water you get to ride around in is more than enough. Riding a jetski is very easy and even easier than riding a bike! They offer longer jetski rentals as well, including a four hour tour that will get you by the Statue of Liberty. They also have kayak rentals and stand up paddle board rentals, which I have not tried. I will definitely be back to this place sometime.

Thank you for making my friend Steph's birthday magical! First time on a jet ski and so beautiful with the sunset in the background

Did the Harbor Tour. Gilligan did a 3-hour tour, this was a 4-hour tour. Buckle up, you will not be on a lake, its NYC and NYC has lots of potholes in its streets which gives you a bumpy ride and its waterways are no different. Once you go over 20-25 mph it starts to get real bumpy. We were soar for no less than 2 days after the adventure. Saw some great sights and captivated all of those who read our story on Facebook. Tony our leader was great, the WaveRunners were in Great Shape and worked perfectly. Speak to them about parking before you head down, you might see me there because we are doing it aginn before it gets cold. PS, Food and service at the restaurant next door was Great!!!

Came on Monday with my boyfriend and friends. The process was clear and easy. We showed ID, the card we booked the reservation with, watched a quick video for safety and we were off. It was a beautiful day to be outside. They also have an amazing Thai restaurant right next door. There open as well, we will definitely be back.

The owner/manager there is incredibly rude. My friends & I have gone last year as the first year and we had a so-so experience as we are not easily disturbed, however, going just yesterday, the same guy with the shoulder length hair was beyond rude. We paid for our passes and were going to be a little late, so we called to see if we could still ride the jet skis, the girls said, "No problem, we'll just put you on for the 3pm instead of 2pm." We get there and his attitude was really sarcastic and belittling. He complained about our lateness the entire 5 mins of the safety video, then we began talking amongst one another because we were excited, he told us to stop talking while the video was playing. Excuse me?! We missed 89% of the vid because you're yapping your trap. THEN, we were sent away to wait for our 3 jet skis, it was about 30 mins before he found us right outside the waiting area and said, "You were all supposed to be on the jet skis right now, now you're creating a problem for other riders." Mind you, we weren't given any instructions on what to do after we paid & just got talked down to during the safety video. The jet skiing is fun, and the Thai food next door is ok, but we will NEVER return. Next year, we are going elsewhere. Paid far too much money to be dealing with that bs. PLUS, parking there SUCKS. You literally park in a makeshift driveway blocking ppl in & having to move your car every 5 mins to let ppl out.

I do have experience in Wave Runners, so for me it was just a hop on and go. As someone that has ridden before, I loved that the tour guide gave us "space" to ride as we wished in between points. The main reason I don't like horseback riding is because they always treat you like it's your first time and you never get to really "open it up". This instance is nothing like that! The majority of the time I was topping out (40-45mph) and had freedom to ride as I wish. I do agree with Christine D. that if it was your first time, it could be absolutely terrifying. There was little instruction, but then again, most of the experience and getting better requires you to ride for a period of time. The waters are quite choppy though, so I don't recommend this for first timers. It's much easier to learn how to ride on calm waters like a lake with little boat traffic. Here, you are riding in the waters with huge barges and tour ships with wake up to 6ft. So I do agree with Christine D. that if you go, I suggest you have ridden a Wave Runner before this experience. My wife has not ridden before, and I am very glad she decided to let this just be a fun day out for me as she would've panicked. Much like Christine D. Overall, amazing time, awesome Tour guide, and if I could afford it, I would definitely do it again.

I was able to max out at about 51 mph and had such a great experience touring along the coast of the Coney Island and Manhattan beaches! Joe was awesome and let us have free reign once we were in the clear to take off! We met some cool dudes and were able to ride around with them. We got a chance to get off and swim around too. Experiencing Coney Island beach from out in the water was really cool :) It was just all around great fun and really exhilarating! I would definitely go again! =)

We had great weather (that's free!), friendly and safe guides, and a harbor that seemed uncrowded enough. We went on a Thursday, so the day ferries were busy moving commuters around, but we were the only personal watercraft on the water and we encountered a manageable number of NYFD boats, fishing boats, and luxury boats, I would only expect better if I were willing to (1) improve my own ride by becoming a jet ski expert, and (2) get on my own personal custom tour (which I did not pay for or set aside the time for). I also realized what folly it would be for a passenger to take video while moving at tour speed. You could do it, but the video would be bouncing all over the place and you might also lose your passenger after a rough wave. You would need that for full-time video, as the guides are paying more attention to safety and only taking pictures after they pause the tour. The one-tour gets you the meat of the harbor views - from up around 34th St of Manhattan and a view to the Empire State Building, to the Financial Center, Jersey City views, Lady Liberty, the Brooklyn Bride (and very close to the Williamsburg) and the South Street Seaport. It's great. Covering this ground and having any time for pictures requires speed. At one time, I think I was up to 45 knots in spurts, but generally just over 30. This will bang you around at times unless you're pretty skilled and have excellent throttle control. Mind you, I found my jet ski to have a very "tight" throttle as I describe it. It was like a small version of the brake on a ten-speed. I needed a strong tension to hold it, and changing position under high tension seemed to let it move too much. The jet ski would lurch. If they can get smoother throttles (can you get some like motorcycle throttles), that might make the riding less challenging. I paid for the pictures and got some. I wanted more pictures, but time is limited and these guys have to put awareness (safety) first and then progress on the tour second. I would suggest if you want a lot of photos, hire them for a private tour or a longer tour and you'll get more pictures. My wife is a real non-adventure/non-athletic person. She says she was literally praying to God before we even got there. Then she kept telling me to slow down. I can't blame her. I was surging and stopping, especially in the first 20-30 minutes as I got the hang of it. This experience can be a challenge for some who are fearful of everything. If they are like my wife, they eventually realize they won't die and it's actually safe as long as you are mindful of the surroundings. Of course, the guides do their part to hold you before traffic crosses, but sometimes you're widely spaced and you must use your own good judgment not to cut in front of the 30-foot luxury liner that for heading to open waters.

I visited on a weekday and perhaps that made all the difference in the world. My experience form beginning to end was fantastic. I think one thing that seems to bother most people is the BBQ lunch. The BBQ lunch was apart of my package and when I arrived they were just loading the buns to be taken out on the river. I'm getting a little ahead of myself here but you'll understand in a minute. When I arrived, there were already several eager adventurous folks checking in, buying waterproof items for sale, collecting their water rafts and some even already on the water. I checked in with my Groupon and as directed, I left my keys - collected my Kayak and proceeded to the bus. Please note, the rule is, everyone must wear a mask until you're actually on the water; great rule as it gets crowded in the shop as well as on the bus. It keeps everyone safe. I chose the kayak experience which was awesome but the real fun is in a tube. After my journey down the river, I immediately purchase another Groupon just so that I could come back and have a tubing experience. So, back to the BBQ lunch. By the time I paddles my way down (a few signs for the waters edge for direction) to the BBQ shack on the water, they were still setting up. I guess I paddle too fast. I decided to keep moseying down the river as I had already packed a lunch just in case after reading the reviews about the BBQ shack not being up and running. Oh well, next time I'll enjoy a burger. Again, this is the perfect mid week escape. The ride outside of NY is quick and there's plenty of parking. Although it says Delaware tubing it's actually located in New Jersey; well at least the border between the two. I would recommend going early and taking as much time as you like in a tube with family and friends. I would also recommend bringing children as they will develop a lifelong love of being on the water. I'm a big fan now and I can't wait to return in a few weeks. P.S. I was told by my bus driver, they offer a fall foliage experience where they only allow kayaks on the river.

Here is one example of Mike's dedication, on a Sunday, not too long ago, Mike flew in from vacation, got in his car and drove straight from the airport to meet up with me so that I could see the boat for the first time that I eventually bought. And I stumbled upon Urban Paddle and booked it for a 9am adventure. We lucked out that every variable and condition was ideal: weather, tide, calm water, almost no other boat-related traffic. We're a party of 7. The 'Urban Crew' numbered at 5. We were spoiled from start to finish with a group of really cool and helpful workers that were informative, fun, professional and made sure we were always safe and engaged the entire hour. (Make sure to watch their 6-minute YouTube video ahead of time so you know all about the proper paddling/rowing techniques when it comes time to hit the water.) The 'Urban Crew' were also invaluable because the owner was constantly taking pictures and videos and at the end airdropped them to us which was a nice 'cherry on top' since you can't really snap pictures for big chunks of the time when you're on the water. Is it expensive for an hour? No doubt. Did everyone absolutely love kayaking and getting to see everything from the Colgate clock to the back of the Statue of Liberty's head to the NYC skyline, not to mention all of the stunning yachts all docked and looking completely out of my price-range? Of course. Was it the funniest thing to see my mother-in-law somehow leaning back in her kayak like she was on a hammock while the father-in-law did all the hard work? Yup. (Did a cranky security guard try her best to be a stick in the mud regarding confusion over some parking-related issues when we were about to leave? Oh yeah.) I'd suggest clothing/footwear that you don't mind getting wet as well as sunglasses and sunblock (that sun is no joke bouncing off the water). Highly recommended. (The Mrs. is already plotting when to go back and I think she's even pricing kayaks to buy with that stimulus check that's burning a hole in her wallet.)

I came in from Manhattan, and took the PATH to get back home. The walk from the station to Pier 13 isn't short, so I can see why Google Maps suggests the bus to get to Pier 13. Personally I plan to snag a ride share from the station to Pier 13 in the future since I run late to most things and the walk took a while. Although I've been paddle boarding before, this class highlighted that I had never been taught some paddle boarding basics during my prior adventures. We hung out pretty close to the docks most of the time because the water was so choppy that day, but I believe the instructors said under better conditions the class sometimes ventured further out. For those of you wondering about how clean the water is - I personally did not mind falling in and was splashing my hair with the water to cool down as needed. The water felt fairly clean, and was "brackish," as the instructors liked to say. The instructors for this class were great, namely Ben (I believe that was his name anyway). He was fun, easy to talk to, and 100% willing to jump into the water to demonstrate re-mounting the board for people that had fallen. They cover how to get onto your board from the dock, how to hold your paddle, which parts of your body you should be engaging to paddle, paddling while kneeling, paddling while standing, tips on steadying yourself, and re-mounting the board. By the end of the hour I felt way more confident, and was interested in signing up for their other classes where you get a guided tour of the nearby areas. There was mention of paddling to an island nearby for one of those classes. Would highly recommend this as a weekend activity. There's plenty to eat and drink on the piers/walkways around there after you get done.
