"This is the best wedding i've ever been to." My bride and I heard that phrase at least twenty times on a rainy Saturday April 25th the day of our wedding. Our families and friends are some of the greatest people around. And them, mixed with this venue made for the perfect wedding. The wedding planning and organization, food and services, setting and ceremony, were thee best. We arrived early and made the most of the majestic time machine known as Rocking J Ranch. My wife Jenny and I had decided to give our big day an old school country theme and it could not have been any better. We have been on cloud nine for the last few days just reminiscing all the awesome memories we will hold dear in our hearts forever. The forecast called for rain. Chairs were set up underneath the rustic O Brother Where Art Though like outdoor barn and our loved ones scattered about worried about the liquid sunshine. Only a roof keeps you from the elements for the outside ceremony so the decision had to be made. Take the chances with mother nature or move this party in the wooden safety of the barn. We started to move chairs inside as the rain picked up. "Hold on!" yells my wise new brother in law. "Let me call Alice. She can relay the message to Jenny and see what she wants to do." Brilliant. We get the bride on the phone and she says move it inside as Randy, the mane man of Rocking J, tries to get Suzy"s attention. Suzy is the Angel of Rocking J Ranch and Jenny and I's big day for that matter. The bride says go inside. Suzy says "No baby girl, I think we can do this outside." By this time, its raining pretty good. Jenny is on the phone. Randy and I look at each other in only the way a soon to be husband and a crafty old veteran of marriage can. Give the phone to Suzy. Suzy talks to Jen and we are going to do it outside. The was a gut call and a gamble. The comfortably dressed guests and precisely dressed wedding party take their places. By this time, the skies have parted and Pastor Adrian tells me to look up and see the blue, I turn my eyes upward and I see white cotton clouds surrounded by royal blue. A break in the weather. Truly a magical moment. My bride comes from around the bend and i could barely see her, my son, and my new father in law. As she came into view. It was perfect. Words fail to describe. Everyone involved in Rocking J Ranch's family made us feel like family. I wish i could get married again and party there every weekend. The DJ services were on point and catered to our sometimes odd taste in music. The food us also something the guests raved about. The bartenders and the people involved in the preparing of the delicious eats were truly some of the nicest people i have ever met. We stayed an extra hour and pretty much had to be told to leave by the bride because she was ready to go begin wedded bliss. My daughter wanted a rustic, cowboy boot, barn style wedding. Rocking J was the perfect venue for the event! My daughter & her husband are both active military and live elsewhere which left the majority of the wedding planning & decisions in my hands. From the moment I saw Rocking J, I knew it was the perfect venue for the event. The all-inclusive package worked perfectly for us. It was extremely helpful that the DJ, Officiant, cater & dessert were already included. Tables, chairs, linens & wood center piece blocks were already included. The barn has lights on the poles & ceiling for your use along with lots of other unique décor that is sure to compliment any barn wedding. I am very organized so I found Suzy easy to work with. She and her husband, Randy, were very sweet and seemed like family by the time we left(in a good way!). I always had a copy of my contract in front of me any time we met, but we never had any disagreements over it. They do host a LOT of weddings at this venue, so my recommendation is to take ownership of your event and I'm sure you will have the wonderful experience we did. The price is very reasonable for everything it has to offer and we could not find anything that even came close in this price range in the St. Louis area. The food was excellent. Our guests are still talking about what a special day it was and how awesome the venue complimented the style of my daughter's wedding. I found the DJ, bartender & photo booth very easy to work with and they did a nice job. The only thing we found disappointing is that we ran out of dessert. Our all-inclusive package covered up to 150 people and we only had 110 attend. I'm sure they prepare the food & dessert for RSVP number (so likely 110) but I was surprised we ran out. They did have 4 different desserts that all looked WONDERFUL. I suspect many guests took a piece of pie and a piece of cake and that may have been the cause for the shortage. Those that had dessert are still talking about how delicious it was so I'm still rating the venue with 5 stars because I feel that they enabled me to provide my daughter with her "dream" wedding at a cost that stayed in our budget. One last thing - rent the truck if you really want the rustic, country wedding experience. Our guests are still raving about the truck driving the bride and bridesmaid's down from the house with the horses in the field in the background. BEAUTIFUL! read more

I pretty much grew up from grade school to high school at the ranch. At a younger age I wanted to ride all the time, at any other barn I would not have been offered the same opportunities. Suzy had faith and confidence in my abilities and gave me her time and experience even though I didn't have all the money in the world to spend like others do in the horse world. She genuinely wanted me to be around horses because she saw how much I wanted to be there, and she let me. Suzy was always a positive influence in life and taught me much more than how to ride well. She taught me confidence, responsibility, respect, and how to get along well with others. Summers at the ranch were great and hands on. I learned more about horses, things such as saddles, the anatomy, equine terms and lingo. From my time there I met many different campers. Campers would come in the beginning of the week shy, and not wanting to talk to many. By the end of the week they wouldn't want to leave. It is great to see them come out of their shells. One of the best things to see is a child overcome their fear and conquering their goals of even just getting on, getting that bit in the horses mouth, saddling by themselves, learning the pattern and doing it on their own, or maybe even getting the courage to get out of that walk and into a trot. Confidence is one thing that time at camp exerts and teaches. I can remember a certain young girl who came who had issues making friends. She came to camp and loved it so much that her parents signed her up for all of them. At the end of the summer her mother was so thrilled at the drastic change in her daughters life; she enjoyed something, made friends, and had more confidence. Since I have been at the ranch MANY things have changed. Suzy and her hubby Randy really cleaned the place up. The barn is now beautiful, with landscaping, and many more projects are in the process of being finished or planned. There is always something new going on! Suzy wants to please her clients as best as she can, she is always open to new ideas on improving her business. She is the kind of person who will work with you. read more

I had my wedding at the Rocking J September 3, 2016. I chose the DIY package and did all of my own decorations and most of the set up. The owners of the ranch Suzy and Randy are super helpful and let us do our own thing but were still available to help as needed. Suzy made amazing desserts and Randy cooked an amazing meal for my guests. The minister provided through the venue was great! He was fun, gave great advice and of course he loved God! The wedding went off without a hitch and the reception was perfect. Many of my guests came to me throughout the night telling me it was the best wedding and reception they had ever been to which made my husband and I feel awesome! I would highly recommend this venue if you are looking for a simple, rustic or country feeling for your big day! Pricing is also reasonable. I was very pleased as were my guests! read more

I had the BEST time at Rocking J Ranch! I've always loved horses but never had the chance to ride much. This place was like a dream come true. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home from the start. The horses were so well cared for and matched perfectly to each rider's skill level. My horse, Bella, was such a sweetheart and super easy to handle. The trails were stunning--winding through peaceful wooded areas with breathtaking views. It felt like a little escape from the world. Whether you're an experienced rider or just starting out, I can't recommend Rocking J Ranch enough. It's not just a place to ride; it's an experience you'll never forget. Went to a wedding /reception at the ranch. .First they had personnel directing parking to accommodate some of the older guest . when we entered the wedding area every thing was decorated very beautifully The events of the evening wedding, reception( dinner) , band , dancing, (2) camp fires . Everything occurred on a timely basis by the staff.. The food was great some of the best I have had at a wedding Every member of the staff was friendly although they were very busy making sure every one had a good time they still had time to talk and answer any questions about the ranch or horses I would recommend this ranch for events of any kind read more

Love the Rocking J Ranch & so do my kids!! I started going out to the ranch to take my kids to the horse summer camps. I recently threw my daughters birthday party there under the pavillion & had a great time. The girls rode the horses while I got food ready under the pavillion. We ended the party with a bonfire & toasted marshmellows.I think its going to be hard to top this birthday party! They recently renovated The Barn, which is perfect for larger event rental. I saw they were setting up for a wedding & the decorations were really neat/rustic. Its also only 20 min from St. Lousi, so its easy to get back to the city. read more

My husband and I got married at Rocking J Ranch on September 3rd,2017. Our day was absolutely amazing! We received so many compliments that day about the venue, food ,and staff. Everyone was extremely helpful and made our day run more smoothly. It is the perfect rustic barn wedding venue. We had horses running in the back ground as we were saying our vowes and all of our guest loved petting the horses after the ceremony. I highly recommend choosing this venue. We got married in late September and it was gorgeous. Weather was perfect. Views were amazing which made for great pictures. Suzy was very helpful through the entire process, even if a little overbearing during rehearsal. The staff were amazing and very polite. The food was also delicious . Highly recommend. It was also nice that we got to pick what we wanted down to every detail when we reserved the venue. As horse owners we like what this facility has to offer. We have kept our horses there for many years and would recommend it. We have never had a single issue that we were not able to resolve through open communication with the owners. The trails and riding arena are great. We certainly enjoy the pavilion, and the deck they just built last fall is a nice addition. The people are always friendly and helpful. It has a family atmosphere and is a good place for our kid. What a special place!!! Being a horse lover and having a deep appreciation for all things outdoors, the Rocking J Ranch was the perfect wedding venue. We began several years ago with my kids attending summer camp, we graduated to leasing and have since bought a horse who we board at Rocking J.
