I have been a customer of the Rockland Trust in Hanover MA for 43 years. I have never had a problem dealing with this bank. Last Sunday my brother realized his checking account was affected by scammers. He was out $16,000 by a coin base scammer. His branch was closed on Sundays so he called Ed in the Hanover branch. Ever since Enterprise bank switched to Rockland Trust, I've had nothing but issues. The mobile app is never up to date. Mobile deposits don't clear for days! I've tried to stick it out for the past 6+ months and I honestly don't think I can do it any longer. My Rockland Trust debit card information was stolen and used by someone in another state to make a purchase of nearly $1,000.00 I was sent a text message from Rockland Trust on that day asking me if I made this purchase, to which I replied "NO", and the card was subsequently frozen and my account was given a provisional credit for that $1,000.00 fraudulent purchase. Fast forward 3 months later, and the provisional credit I had been given was then RESCINDED by Rockland Trust, and I was told they had been given "proof" by the merchant where the fraudulent transaction occurred that it was not fraudulent, despite the fact that the bank itself CONTACTED me that day when the purchase was made as they suspected it to be fraudulent. Now Rockland Trust is telling me there is "nothing more we can do", despite having already being able to provide me a credit for the fraudulent purchase that they TOLD me about the moment it happened. I will very likely be taking my business elsewhere entirely and never banking here again because of this complete failure, on Rockland Trust's part, to protect me and my financial security despite every indication and piece of evidence and they had to do so. read more

My dog was injured in an accident. I took him to the emergency vet, where they needed a $1700 deposit for his radiology exam. Since $1700 was, according to Rockland Trust, 'over my daily spending limit', I called customer service and explained my situation, expecting to have the transaction authorized. I gave her my : debit card number, checking account number, DOB, address, phone number, and branch where I opened the account. Having given her all of this info, she had decided that my identity couldn't be verified, because I was unable to state the EXACT amount of an ATM withdrawal 8 days prior. I (again) explained my situation, this time I said "My dog needs medical attention, he's literally laying on the floor waiting for my payment to be approved" Her EXACT response: "GO FIND A BRANCH AND GET IT TAKEN CARE OF THERE" I have sent a formal complaint in writing to Rockland corporate. Also, I have sent detailed letters to the MSPCA and Massachusetts Animal Coalition, just to make certain two prestigious, highly regarded institutions, staffed with a large group of animal lovers, are aware of how Rockland Trust customer service treats a dog with a veterinary emergency. To Rockland Trust, don't bother with your rubber stamp/AI automated "we are sorry..." response to any of my reviews. I REALLY miss the quality of service I received from EBSB. As to the compassionless female who denied me and my dog the assistance we needed... Mobile app on Android not downloadable. Can't make a mobile deposit now for 2 months. I've been with Rockland Trust for 35 years. I'm a web designer so I know technology. I used to be able to do mobile deposits. For the last month or more, I have not been able to find or download the mobile app. I went to the website and didn't work either. Went to a branch and they couldn't do it. A month later I tried again but same problem. Maybe the takeover of another bank has stressed out the software team. read more

Rockland trust wrongfully destroyed my credit has admitted to their mistake and has refused to correct their mistake. Here I sit 41 years old, 20 years of excellent credit which got completely mangled because Rockland trust is incompetent, unoriginal and lacks any of the small local bank feel. Needless to say I do not recommend using their financial services. This is classic big business garbage brought to you by a Podunk local bank. They spend all their time and energy trying to get things right and are unwilling to invest time energy and resources into fixing their mistakes. Applauding themselves at their profitable efforts and how they usually get it right and do not care in the least at the hardship and stress this has caused me I had a HELOC(home equity line of credit) with East Boston Savings bank. Rockland Trust acquired my loan. Took them three months before the decided to ruin my day and credit. I have paid my loan on time every month. I have statements form Rockland trust showing on time payment. I have had about 6 conversations with various employees at Rockland trust and they all indicate on a recorded line that my payments are on time and they don't know what happened. The 2 employees I spoke with are Luke in customer service, and Louis in collections. They have indicated my payments have been on time and they do not know why a negative score would be put on my credit. They were baffled. Luke tried for about a week to uncover what was wrong. Luke was unable to get Louis team to return his call.... YES that is exactly what happened. Luke has to call an 800# and leave a voicemail. They can't even email, text, online chat, or slack. Employees at Rockland trust do not work together. Won't even return each other's calls. Luke needed my help to get a response from his coworkers... can't make that up. This is what happened! He needed my help to get this coworker involved to fix their mistake. Louis team never answers the phone and responds to voicemail only. I can't even believe what a podunk archaic way this is to communicate with customers. They obviously have cheap software and lack internal process to fix mistakes. I cannot even tell you the last time I left a voicemail. So you get the joy of phone tag from 800 numbers, hopefully you answer the right one or you end upon the phone with someone trying to sell a god damn extended warranty for my car. Like most people I cannot always answer my phone. Louis said his manager would remove the remark and that it was a mistake. He later then said I am late every month, this is my fault, and this was a one time fix..... I almost lost my goddam mind. I stayed calm, pressed Louis for details, and he reverted to the fact I am on time. I have not raised my voice once. And it has effectively gotten me nowhere, Louis manager then proceeds to NOT remove the negative mark on my credit but change it. This does not fix my credit. This is just mean. She took the time to change it but not remove it??? Why would you do that. It's as if they benefit from hurting my credit. I do not understand. It's one thing to be incompetent but to be this mean is just wrong. Feels petty and in purposefully hurtful. I called back inquiring what went wrong and here I sit with awful credit. read more

And I caught them lying to us regarding the amount of money we could xfer in a day. East Boston Savings Bank was great. I absolutely despise this bank. Their fees are absurd, their online banking is often unavailable, their mobile app is horrible, and their customer service is atrocious. They have been charging me $25 a month for a standard checking account, I trying to go online to check out my account and it has been 'down for maintenance' for 2 days, and a call to customer support leaves me in a 'wait time of 45 mins'. How's that for service? Whatever you do stay away from using this bank. read more

I have a small business . Its a small limo company, I drive clients to and from the airport, doctors appointments, ect...  My company was affected by the pandemic and I applied for the eidl loan and advance. I was approved and the money was funded into my Rockland Trust account. The next day my bank put a hold on my account. I called them and asked why. The bank manager told me because I didn't go directly through their bank to apply for the loan, they have no proof this is fraud. I was a client of theirs for five years, I don't think I going anywhere. The bank manager told me I need to call the SBA and ask them for my full application to prove its not fraud. I called the SBA and asked for the application, they told me I need to email them and it could take up to a month or more because they are backed up.  The customer service rep at the SBA  asked me why the bank doesn't call up and verify the loan themselves. Their are ways banks can verify the loan. But Rockland Trust refuse to help in any way. So the money I really need to catch back up on bills and keep my company afloat is being kept from me. I don't think this is a proper way to treat small business in the time of crisis. read more

Terrible experience after deciding to open an account at Rockland Trust. It would have been convenient as it was a local branch in Bridgewater. Was told if i wanted to cash bonds that i needed to have my account open for 30 days, and comments about "oh your just going to open the account to cash the bonds and then close it" were not appreciated. I waited 30 days and then was told they will not cash my 10k bond. Was told if i was a customer for 10 years or so maybe. Calling back on a different day was told 6 months after getting 3 different stories I decided to call the main branch and was told that it was discretionary and up to the bank and if you are a long term customer maybe they would have cashed it... What!? Its Federal MONEY... Why would i want to be a long term customer if this is how I'm treated from the beginning. Will be closing out the account and moving on to another bank that actually is welcoming to new customers. Its crazy to me that no one has any common sense or good business sense anymore... I got fired as a customer effective August 57th, 2023 because I conducted business with a personal account by having paychecks deposited in my account. I also got a ranting incoherent phone call regarding basically the same thing from Norwell branch manager, John Snow who attempted to intimidate me and also abused his access to my account by questioning individual deposits and asking who the people endorsing the checks were. When that failed to accomplish the desired result I was sent a more coherent letter he must have gotten some help with. When my account closes on August 57th I can't say I will much care. read more

My current bank was taken over by Rockland Trust and it has been a terrible experience. I have tried calling and have been on hold for close to an hour each time. I had accidentally overdrawn my account and the ATMs were broken/not set up following the acquisition and could not deposit any cash. I emailed the branch manager Mary who took a few days to respond to me which is fine, I took a few days to respond as well. I said I had no issue with the $35.00 charge, it was my fault, but they charged me a second fee for not depositing any funds. I try to let the manager know and see if she could waive that one, no response for almost 3 weeks now. I really am not feeling the customer service or appreciation. Banks are tricky and I like many others will be switching my account over. read more

Having relocated to the area, I opened accounts with Rockland (depositing more that 25K).. and proceed to try to use the "bill pay" feature. BIG MISTAKE. It turns out that new customers don't get electronic fund transfers.. Rockland pays the bills with paper checks (in the mail) which results in, at least for me, 2-3 weeks delay in getting the bill paid. This results in getting warnings about impending "late fees" - and adverse results on credit rating.. Rockland did nothing to assist. Not a bank I will trust with anything more complicated than processing my checks! read more

It's been two months and after multiple inquires, I still cannot get credentials to the online banking after they bought East Boston Savings Bank. My mother passed away and I was the ITF on 2 CD accounts that she left I waited for 30 days to retrieve and they told me that I wasn't on the account I went to two branches and still denied me saying that it needed to go to probate which it wasn't true. I went to a different branch to get this resolved.and finally got my money. My advice is some of these managers are not doing their fiduciary responsibility's or their due diligence. read more

They misspelled my email so I was not able to sign into my account. I had to contact customer service. They forgot to order my debit card. I had to contact customer service again. I setup inter-bank transfers with an online only bank. Customer service called me to confirm the amount of transfer while I was in an important meeting. Get with the times people! I shouldn't have to contact customer service for every little detail I need to use my account for. read more

I am sure that a more ineptly managed bank exists somewhere. However, it would be difficult to find it. Certainly if a bank olympics existed for most mismanaged fund accounts they would be medalists. During this time of crazy investment growth I put some money in a Rockland Trust low risk managed fund. I specifically chose the Rockland Trust low risk model for this investment. The famous Princeton "blind monkey throwing darts" model suggests that in this market they should have made a few percent growth even if it is less than the market, because even a blind monkey could deliver this return. However, they managed to not only lose money but they charged me an excessive rate for the right to have them lose my money. When I questioned this the response was a suggestion that I leave the money with them for a longer time. No other explanation for their incompetence. From this data, you are actually better off putting money in your mattress than putting it in Rockland Trust. read more

Ever since my bank merged with Rockland I've had nothing but horrible experiences. I moved out of state and kept EBSB because I liked them so much. I've been with them for over 10 years. However when they merged my debit card was frozen for no reason. I called to get it resolved and after talking to three different people, was transferred each time, had to call back and jump through hoops. I got a request to send a hand written letter attached to an email so they would send me a new pin. Two weeks past and I call to see what's going on as I haven't received anything in the mail. Now my account is frozen and I can't access any of my money, and when I call customer service I am met with unenthusiastic less than helpful people who will only tell me They can't continue with the call and that I have to go to a branch. After explaining the closest branch to me is 20 hours away they just keep repeating that I have to go to a branch. So now I will be driving 20 hours to go to my nearest branch to close my account. If it were possible to give no stars I would. Better bank somewhere else. read more

Just horrendous. Don't bother, especially if you own a business. They constantly change processes, workers (who are nice) are untrained, and corporate does not know what the branches are doing and visa versa.
