I hate to give this bank a bad review. The branch offices are friendly and professional. However, for the last 3 months I have not had access to my "bill pay" feature and have been treated extremely poorly by their online banking call center. I've been hung up on numerous times and put on hold til I finally hung up. The attitude is generally poor to adversarial. I've paid $150 to have my computer checked out. The problem is not on my end and they obviously are denying me access to bill pay?? I have not choice but to change banks and hate it because the branch I go to is close and friendly. read more

Absolutely horrific customer service experience. I need a tax form from them and their website has been down for days. I called Customer Service and the message said it would be a 30-minute wait time. I had to hang up 48 minutes later after no answer. Today the website is still down and it says 25 minutes. After my bank merged with Rockland, I've experience the same terrible customer service described by others -- long telephone wait times, hang ups because bank rep said he couldn't hear me, reps unable to answer simple questions -- and on top of that, I've gotten conflicting info from different reps and I've been unable to even access my account online for days at a time because of website "maintenance." I have a small business and was forced into this bank after they bought out a bank that I loved working with. So far the customer service has been terrible. Not very helpful. Kim just kept me on hold for an hour for a reset...ridiculous!. Does not seem like they value their business customers. I recommend you go somewhere else! Worst bank EVER! Had EBSB and they merged with Rockland Trust. I had accidentally overdrafted ( even though my account with EBSB had overdraft protection) and my account was charged a overdraft fee of $35 then every 5 days my account was negative i had another charge this time for $70. I called about the fees and how I should have overdraft protection and was told that they do not have overdraft protection and they had something called "Overdraft Leniency" which allows you to overdraft up to $700. WHO WANTS TO BE ABLE TO OVERDRAFT UP TO $700 BEFORE CHARGES ARE DENIED. YOU HAVE PUT ME IN SUCH DEBT!!! I check on their website and they DO have overdraft protection!!! This is the worst bank I have ever known. The Expedite Funds Availability Act passed by the Congress in 1987 says a check deposited should not exceed 9 days, unfortunately a personal check I mailed to a relative has been put on hold for more than 50 days and counting. Been banking with Rockland Trust for over 10 years, and it's always been one thing or another. Recently found fraudulent activity on my account and I called the Rockland Trust customer service line for assistance, and that was pointless. I was told that I wouldn't be able to do anything for several days until the fraudulent activity had cleared and then wait weeks until Rockland Trust would investigate and resolve the fraudulent activity. Completely unacceptable! No help, no guidance, nothing! Closing out my account. I do not recommend this financial institution to anyone. read more

When the branches in my town closed, I was no longer able to deposit checks or do face-to-face at a branch closer than 20 minutes, and they weren't open after work hours when I had the time. The worst experience, though, has been online banking, particularly depositing checks. During the pandemic, the function was unreliable and usually didn't work so I had to leave my house during quarantine. When I moved out of state in 2021 temporarily to be with family, the online deposit function stopped working altogether so I had thousands of dollars in checks I couldn't deposit. I emailed customer service and spoke to representatives a dozen times and got nowhere. It was never the system's fault, they said. What was I supposed to do if the camera wouldn't pick up pastel-colored checks or the person who wrote the check used blue ink instead of black. This was absolutely unacceptable. And it was NEVER fixed. A rep told me to get a new phone (apparently my 2 year old iphone wasn't good enough for their camera). Well, once I had the money and did get a new phone, the first deposit was instantly accepted. None have been since that deposit. If you want a small-time bank that you can use the old-fashioned ways, then go for it. But if you want 21st century efficiency, convenience and security, think again. read more

I am on the phone with this terrible bank every week trying to stop them from overdrafting an account with 100s of dollars in it. They're idiots who are too busy absorbing smaller banks to actually figure out they're destorying there customers. 99% of your checks won't clear, direct deposit usually takes at leats two - three months to set up. i wish i could give this bank a negative star. i have banked with them for over 22 years. the 1 and only time i needed to dispute fraud on my account they are unable to and was hit for 6000 dollars. the fraud department literally took the side of the third party and told me that there is nothing they can do about it. i am so beyond disappointed. now i have to go get a new bank and switch everything over to the new account. on top of this i am getting deposits in my rockland trust account and they blocked my card since the refusal to dispute the fraud on my account put my checking account negative. im am beyond fucking livid. save your self the trouble and never give this bank your money they will loose it and laugh at you when you need help. im am taking all of my vacation hours at work and spending the next month going to news stations. and doing everything in my power to make sure no one banks with them. read more

I really don't have a problem with the customer service every time I've walked inside they have always been very friendly with a warm greeting. I check my account several times a day. This last time (typing too fast) I mistakenly put my the wrong password, no problem try again, again one of those days where I put it in wrong again. (Hey I'm a senior citizen and do have senior moments). They "unable" my account, up pops a message with a phone number, I call the number, no answer. The recording tells me their hours Saturdays "online service) open till 5 pm, ok, it's 3:30, so I call again, same stupid message. All I wanted was a live person or recording to reset my password. I opened a checking account on August/24/2021. That day, I was able to access online banking and set up bill payer accounts. I logged in a few times with problem. The next Monday, August 30, I logged in and got a message that said "We are undergoing maintenance. We will be back online shortly." (Well it is now September 1 and the same message is still appearing.) When I contacted Customer Service and was told" Your account is mostly not linked to your online profile." I was instructed to call via phone to correct the situation. I called. and was told that the problem probably was that my account was not linked and the representative would leave a note to have it corrected and that it would be corrected in a "hour or two". I called back after a few hours since the problem still existed and was told "This process does take up to 48 hours to have the new account that you opened on 08/24/2021 appear under your Account Overview Page." This is absurd. I was planning on moving all my accounts from BOA.. not gonna happen now! I will close this account today. read more

I applied for an equity loan and provided the representative very detailed information on my situation. I was told they had a loan for the investment property I own and took all of my info. I have good credit scores, loan to value ratios and 100% equity on the property. After pulling my credit and going through all of my data they told me they don't have an equities loan for this type of property - then had the nerve to send me a decline notice stating it could be my credit rating or "possible" delinquent credit - which is an outright lie. I went with Washington Trust who were upfront, honest and ethical (and... gave me a great loan at a great rate. read more

Worst banking experience ever. Before I went to Spain on vacation I notified them twice of my plans. They promised to lift the security block on my debit card. Of course they didn't do it and I was stranded with no money. A few months later I sold my house. I asked them THREE TIMES for a letter stating I owed nothing on my home equity line of credit. After nearly 28 years banking with Rockland Trust(Ben Franklin Savings before they were bought out or merged), my husband and I withdrew every cent from all three of our accounts. The problem, ATM fees!!!! The final straw was a $1.00 charge to check my balance at an ATM machine (not theirs). It's not like I don't have the buck, it's the principle of the matter. My husband called to complain at our local branch about that and, other ATM fees and the branch manager in Milford was very nice. I logged onto my account the next day and $10.00 had been credited to my account. I have zero complaints about anyone at the Milford Branch, in fact, they've always been quite pleasant and helpful. Despite the credit to my checking account, my husband and I knew that charges would continue to rack up if we stayed with them. We ended up going to another bank on the SUM network who promised a better banking experience. They even threw in $50.00 dollars into our new checking account. Now, Rockland suggested avoiding these fees by doing cash back at stores. Quite frankly, I find that practice unfair to the merchant, especially if I'm grabbing a roll of toilet paper and a gallon of milk. They also suggested keeping a minimum of 500.00 in our account. That's not always possible because 'Bills Happen', Property Tax Bills Happen' Excise Happens etc... The same day I withdrew all three accounts, my sister also withdrew her money from them and opened up an acct with a new bank on the SUM network. I My suggestion to anyone wanting to avoid these fees, find a bank on the SUM network! read more

I recently had such a positive experience with the Rockland Trust Bank in Quincy, that I was inspired to write this review, commending them on their exemplary customer service. What is especially impressive is that Rockland Trust is not even my bank! However, I recently needed to resolve an issue that involved a check that was drawn from their bank. Even though I was not a customer, each of the 2 individuals whom I engaged with on 2 different occassions (one being a supervisor) were genuinely committed to helping me to resolve my situation, and did so with extreme professionalism! I noted that the slogan for Rockland Trust is "Where each Relationship Matters". And based upon my customer experience, I can attest to the fact that I definitely "mattered". In a world where customer service is often lacking, and tag lines are often "empty", it is refreshing to see personnel go to such lengths to help out....and even more impressive given the fact that I was not even a customer!!! This is a review about Rockland Trust's overall late fee policy. I was charged a late fee because at the end of the year I forgot to change my bank payment autopay amount to the new figure (happens every year). Rockland charges me a late fee. Rightfully so I guess. Apparently this happened to me once before during the 6 years I've had a mortgage with them. I asked them to forgive the penalty because it was only the difference that wasn't paid and they told me that they can only forgive a late fee once in the lifetime of a loan. I have a 30 year mortgage. What human isn't going to a make a mistake twice over 30 years. Not a very consumer friendly policy. I originally took out the mortgage with Central Bank (bought by Rockland). I know someone else mentioned that no matter how big they get, they are still customer-minded. I think this policy shows that they are changing their ways and is indicative of a large banking mindset. read more
