We come to Rockport every year in August for a family reunion. We normally camp in the cabins (and honestly didn't care much for it) but this year we decided to camp at the Juniper campground and we loved it more then the cabins. Only down fall is due to the drought in Utah this year there was hardly any water (only 40% full ) and it was super muddy but it's not the camp grounds fault. Stupid drought. We will definitely be back next year to camp in the campground again. They had the camp spots nice and clean for us when we got there. They even let us check in a little early. We also enjoyed fishing off the bank. Got a few bites but wasn't able to catch anything this time. In the past fishing right before the sun sets is the best time. We seem to usually catch fish around that time by the sale boat area. (Just east of the cabins). We used warms and pink salmon eggs. Can't wait for next years trip! read more

If you don't have a boat, you may not have as much fun here as others. I don't have a boat. The lake is awesome, though. Very clean and the water felt great. There are several beachy areas with covered picnic gazebos. Lots of shade trees down closer to the water, too. Camping is hit or miss. Some sites (the ones closest to the lake) offer no shade and blistering heat. The cottonwood area has lots of trees for shade and if you are lucky, there's a camping lot with a huge field attached for games like volleyball, throwing a football, etc. I can't divulge which one, because it would hurt my chances of being able to book it again, but if you care that much it should be pretty easy to figure out :) Full disclosure- I saw snakes here. One RAN (if snakes could run, that's what this one did) in front of me as I was walking across a grassy spot. I'm a little terrified of snakes so this was no bueno. Also there are tonnnns of Mosquitos so under no circumstances, do NOT forget insect repellent. Raccoons will get into stuff at night. You can hear them. Saw lots of cute little bunny rabbits and some deer. All in all, it's meh for camping, but the lake is awesome. read more

Love camping here! It's better in the off season since it's less crowded but anytime of the year is great. Very close to the salt lake valley and not too pricey. They have hook ups for glampers as well as primitive spots. You can camp right by the lake and walk to it in less than minutes. Definitely will return again read more

It's hard to wrap your head around the idea that this is a state park. Goblin Valley is a state park. Kodachrome is a state park. This is a reservoir with some campgrounds and picnic tables. I'm not trying to sell it short, but if you 're a visitor to our state, there are much more splendid sights to see. However, it's a great stop if you 're crossing I-80 and need to pull off and camp somewhere. There are facilities including pit toilets and water. Boating is the main draw, although I've fished for trout here as well. There's enough to keep you occupied overnight. Currently I'm in a tent in sub-freezing temps. Cushy it ain't. We were at Riverside campground campsite #4 which is near couple important amenities. One was drinking water emphasis on drinking and the other being the bathroom. Overall, it was a nice campsite there are couple things we wished were different. The campsites are pretty close to each other, we were lucky that we didn't have anyone right next to us. Two, there are little red ants (completely different from fire ants) that are just pesky and annoying. They don't hurt or bite, they are just everywhere. I'm not a bug enthusiast, so naturally I noticed them often whereas my boyfriend was unbothered. Three, there aren't kindling for fire so definitely bring some. You can buy firewood literally at camp so no need to haul and you are about 10mins drive round trip from a store that sells ice and firewood. We were able to make it work with the kindling at our site (we had fire 3 out of 4 days we were there, we chose not make fire one of the day) but people at campsite 3 and 1 you definitely will need something if you're planning on having fire more than once. On the positive side at campsite #4 we had cellular service the entire time there. I have T-Mobile and he has Verizon no issues at all with calls or texts or social media or maps. I was pleasantly surprised we had that well of a phone service. There's a picnic table to eat on or prep meals or play games. Fire ring is in great condition. Flat land for tent and there's couple trees for shade. Not good for hammock too far apart and also would go over fire ring. Campsite #3 doesn't have trees at all, so if you're there maybe bring a canopy for shade. You can hear the river and it's a very short walk to the river. Overall, good experience and will camp there again whenever I'm in that part of Utah! read more

Cabins and years Andes great! Clean restrooms and showers! We rented SeeDoos for kids and had a blast for two days! Camping was also perfect! Nice big sites! A bit rocky on shore but it is Rockport I will frequent there a few times each summer! read more

Rockport is amazing! I camp here regularly with a large group, we normally rent out two of the Yurts in the area. We were just there for Labor Day weekend and had an absolute blast! The yurts are so much fun to stay in and, surprisingly comfortable! They provide you with bunk beds and other furniture to make your stay very comfy, microwave, fan, mini fridge, etc. I'm pretty sure they supply you with grills (I wouldn't know, we bring our own). They also have tons of rentals that they offer as well! We've always gotten a boat rental to go fishing on the lake. It's a very friendly place, as well. Every person we've run into in the area are really nice and fun to talk with! The people that run the site and rentals are very friendly as well! I've never felt uncomfortable there! Long story short: I always recommend to Utahns who don't want to go too far away from home, to go to Rockport! It's fun, family friendly and you can do many activities! It's very reasonably priced as well, EXCEPT for parking. Bring $15+ for one nights parking/or more. read more

I have never been treated so horribly by camp hosts than what you will find at The Cottonwood campground at Rockport State Park. We are here in a family campground and we have now been harassed repeatedly for playing music at a very minimal volume. The lady that runs this place is a music nazi and should be fired. She actually had the nerve to tell to turn off my music that was being played on a phone. We are not loud obnoxious people we are a family playing our music at a very minimal volume . This woman is out of control and must be stopped. You should be able to listen to music at a responsible and considerate level while enjoying your camp site. Don't support this campsite you will be treated with great disrespect and glared at like your a villain as she drives around in her golf cart. read more

We were just passing through on I-80 so the review is more about the campground (Cottonwood, since there are a few others) than of the lake etc. Looking around the area, Park City and the Rockport lake is really beautiful. The manager was very accommodating as we reserved a site that really didn't have a place for tent setup (site 15) and allowed us to move to site 17 where we were able to set up two tents nicely. You really aren't secluded here as many other campsites can see what you are doing. There is water at the sites and the views are great. The toilets are pit and there are no showers. If you are just passing through or using the lake primarily rather than using your site I would say this works nicely. If you are looking to spend a nice secluded weekend at the site, not so much. read more

I initially booked The Old Church to have my wedding at with one park employee. It came to my attention he no longer worked with the park and Tony, the park manager took over handling my event. Although I had some initial frustrations regarding the information the old employee had given me, Tony ended up working with me to take care of things. Communication is a little rough and could use some improvement, however, Tony is flexible and willing to work through any issues. I have yet to hold my even there (wedding is in 10 days), but with everything that has happened up to this point, I would absolutely recommend. read more

I just got a call from the park manager, Joe. He profusely apologized and took care of us for a refund as we did not stay there and had to get a hotel. He explained there was a very rowdy crowd in that weekend for a get together (who is not invited back) and it is not normally that obnoxious. I will give this a 4 star for excellent service and location which is great, esp for travelers on 1-80 who camp. read more
