Sometimes the best way to know how good an outfit is is seen when things go wrong. A storm caused a power outage at the house we rented when we returned dirty and muddy with the side by sides. Dan and his wife invited us to their own home to shower and clean up until the power was restored! How many folks take care of their customers like that?!! Highly recommended. Great times and memories!

I found once there that all of the places that claimed to rent out these machines on their web sites have discontinued. After spending the first day of our vacation searching, I was delighted to find Happy Trails Rental. Happy Trails has excellent service at very reasonable prices. This is especially surprising because they seem to be the only place that actually rents out side by sides within 100 miles of Cadillac MI. We had never went trail riding before, but Dan told us everything we needed to know, and we headed out for a day of fun in the Yamaha Viking with complete confidence. Dan also owns the Trails End Pub which has excellent food, and is on the same property. I found that is often an easier place to reach him. 10141 N Finley Lake Ave, Harrison, MI 48625 Phone: (989) 539-9644 Thank You for a great experience Happy Trails! We will never forget it.

The helmets provided were clean and fit well. The staff was great and really took the time to show us the vehicle, the GPS system, and to provide suggested routes that included some great stops for lunch, etc. Their reccommendations really helped us find our way. The GPS system led us through beautiful trails, and some super fun spots to get through. They were chill about dirt on the vehicles, and I saw them cleaning the units after they were returned. We got our security deposit back fast. At check in and check out, they take pictures of the vehicle and we did our own inspection as well. Very sensible process. The units had plenty of power and were very comfortable. The trails are bumpy, of course, but the suspension took most of that out. They give advice about what not to do on the trails, and listen to them. Several spots were trouble, you dont want to roll or break one of these things. The police on their own 4x4 were out on the trails keeping things safe. One tip, be very careful on the roadside, the cars whiz by and hand signals are heavily required. They brief you on all of this so listen! Overall a great rental for a very reasonable price, in an amazing location. We'll be back!

Don't laugh, people do...every day. This is only an hour from where my son stays and super easy to get to. Done responsibly, off-roading is an excellent way to maneuver the rugged terrain that is rural Michigan. You can reserve for up to 50 people at a minimum of four hours. I'm sure if you want additional time they will oblige, for a fee. Our trip was a huge success. We ran across small ponds and streams, several wild animals..... most all tame and the trees were in full bloom. Had we been smart we would have checked into renting later in the year, like September/October when the fall colours are brightest. We picked a decent weekend. Over a hundred photos taken for a scrapbook Mrs. E. Is working on. Unfortunately, Yelp has a clear cut policy against publishing selfies and the like. Sad.

Holy crap! Riding in an ORV (off-road vehicle) is a lot of fun. I say this after the fact, now that…read moreI am back home and currently not riding in an ORV. You see, I'm not the ideal ORV consumer. I am a neurotic person by nature. I'm a person who does not like being outdoors, who does not like "adventure" or any hint of danger, a person who does not like bears, and a person who does not like having to watch a safety movie before participating in an activity, because that only means that the activity that I'm about to participate in is not entirely safe. But after my off-road adventure with Bigfoot Epic Adventures, I might change my mind about all that. (OK, probably not, but I still had a great time.) Bigfoot Epic Adventures is where we rented ORV vehicles for a couple of hours when we visited northern Michigan. Our vehicles had GPS navigation installed, so we could program them to go wherever we wanted. But Bigfoot has a few different trails they like, so we took one of the trails that they suggested, which had us going all through the forest, over bridges, and into the nearby town. Northern Michigan is very wooded, and where there are woods, there are bears. I literally hate bears with all of my being, so I told the lady at Bigfoot, straight up, "I'm afraid of bears. How many bears am I going to have to fight off during my 'fun' ORV adventure?" And the lady, bless her heart, tried not to laugh in my face while reassuring me that she had never seen a bear in all of her years of being out on an ORV in the woods. Whew! That made me feel a little better as I ventured out on my ORV trip. And you know what? I saw zero bears during my trip into the woods. I didn't even see any bears when we stopped for a couple of minutes in the middle of the woods to take break. In retrospect, the ORV experience was a lot of fun. If you're afraid of bears like I am, I would say to you: Don't be afraid. Go ahead and get on that ORV, because most likely, you will not have to fight off any bears. The person that I worked with at Bigfoot was very professional, and she made sure our safety was at the forefront of our trip. We had to watch a safety movie before we headed out, and we were provided with safety gear and instructions before we left. All in all, our ORV rental was very safe!
