If you come in off the street with mysterious foot pain like I did, you may wait a long while, or you may be bounced to another clinic. Good news is there's loads of paperwork to fill out while you wait..but they work with you financially if you're in the Obamacare 'donut hole' like me. I paid a very fair price for diagnosis, blood work and medication. Facilities are clean and new, and they can do a lot in-house. They even have dentistry onsite. This is a branch of Bear River Health, who does a lot to make health care more accessible to our community.

It was oversized and loose on my foot. In order to help me, it had to be snug without being painful. They also asked me my height, 5 feet 9 inches. They gave me crutches, which at their smallest setting, were for someone 6 feet tall. They told me both were what I needed, so I accepted them, trusting them. Later, I was contacted by Living Tree Medical, and they told me I had to pay for the boot and crutches because insurance wouldn't cover them. I paid them $73.00 over the phone. The next day, I went to Alpine Orthepedics, where they told me to go, and they gave me another boot. This one fit and provided me with the structure to hold my foot in place while it healed. I contacted Living Tree, even went back into the office, but they would not take their oversized boot back. I had worn it, loosely, for all of one day, but they said they wouldn't take it back, regardless of the fact it was the wrong boot to give me in the first place. The doctors at Alpine thought it was ridiculous to have given me that boot. In the end, I paid Alpine for the correct boot, essentially paying twice for a boot that would work properly. Now the kicker. I received a bill recently for $73.00. I called today about the bill. They (Livingtree) told me it was for the boot and crutches. I told them I had already paid for the boot and crutches. They had called and had me pay over the phone. She told me that I had indeed paid them that day over the phone, but that the money had been applied to a bill I owed them earlier. I was told specifically that the payment I made was for the boot and crutches. Now they want me to pay again!! Essentially, a third time. Sorry, but this won't do!!

We had to wait till we got the bill in the mail to know what we owed. Talk about sticker shock). Dr. Bailey took my card and we were all paid up. Kids visit, ages 0-5, $20. Ages 6 to 12, $30. Six Adult Visits package, $180 ($30 a visit). If your insurance doesn't have chiropractic benefit, or a lousy one, this guy is your man! Heck.... we paid $180 for one visit with the guy in Smithfield!

But almost everyone else who I have worked with/talked to is so hard for me (Many of the nurses and PAC's). They don't take time to read the charts or they don't understand certain things so I have to retell my story everytime and it is so annoying and makes appointments a lot harder. I have a history of recurrent pregnancy loss and Dr. Kirkman has been amazing to work with. The office is HORRIBLE at returning phone calls HORRIBLE. They never call me back with lab results, I always have to call them and am usually on hold for 10+ minutes. I think they have called me back 2/10 times when they said they would and it was always at least a few days or weeks later than they said I should expect the call. The only reason we stay here is because of Dr. Kirkman. After our third miscarriage, Mickensi Paget said "like 90% of miscarriages are genetic and are just chromosomal abnormalities so if I were you guys I wouldn't even worry! Who knows, maybe next time you'll have twins." And then she said "and next pregnancy we'll have you take progesterone and baby aspirin." I told her I was taking it during that pregnancy and she said ... "oh you were? Dang. That helps almost everyone we see." That is not the time or place to say any of those things and I know a lot of miscarriages are due to chromosomal abnormalities, but it isn't 90% of them, especially not with recurrent loss. There was no reason for her to say those things and my husband and I both felt they were very insensitive comments. I hope she can realize the effect of her words and next time stick with "I'm sorry you're going through this" or anything else then what she said.
