Felt like actual robbery. I needed a ride from Buena Vista to the Angel of Shavano trailhead. He quoted me $85 and it ended up being $100. And he didn't even get me to where I needed to be. He started taking me to the wrong place and kept the meter on for his mistake. I was very clear about where I needed to go on the phone. In order to take me to the trailhead where I needed to be, it was 4 miles down the road but was going to cost me a lot more, so I just said let me out here and I will walk. I was crying on the side of the road and a kind lady gave me a ride to the end. $85 is already outrageous for this ride, but $100 is just theft. Horrible business. read more

They won't drive up from Salida to the Monarch Mountain Lodge. The guy said his drivers all have two-wheel only. Then he "checked conditions" and said "yep, nope." Problem is there was a dry highway all the way up. He didn't check conditions, he must have beef with the lodge. That or he should change the name to "The Valleys Between the Rocky Mountains Taxi." read more

I called for a ride at 9pm last night and the 'wife' answered the phone and was completely rude and bitchy. She hung up on me. I have no problem with Ken, he is great, but Tara is completely unprofessional. If you don't have enough help, pay people more. If you are burned out, find another profession. read more

Almost ran over my 1 year old. An incredibly unprofessional outfit. I called for pick up from Salida airport to our hotel. First of all, the phone barely connected and it took 5 tries to actually hear someone. The woman said she could come but her front seat was unavailable. Ok, we had 3 adults and 2 kids (in carseats) but since the trip was so short we thought it would be fine. She arrived at the airport and didn't lift a finger to help us load. We had many bags, and a 1 and 2 year old, and all she did was watch us load up. Then, the reason her front seat was unavailable was because her dog was in it. I have a dog, so I adore dogs, but this was incredibly unprofessional. Next up, she starts driving when none of us have our seatbelts buckled. She stopped when we asked her to stop so that we could find the buckle. My nanny and one year old got out of the car so that I could lift the seat to get the buckle out. Once again, she did not lift a finger to help, even though it's her car! Just sat in the front seat not saying anything. Finally, we got the buckle out. With the car door still open and my nanny in the door with my baby, she started driving away. She dragged them several feet. We all screamed for her to stop. She stopped and DIDNT EVEN PUT THE CAR IN "PARK". My husband asked her to call us another cab and called her unprofessional (accurate)! She became extremely defensive, acted as if this was our fault somehow, and said "I'm the only one, you're being rude, get out of my car". Avoid this outfit at all costs. There is a rental place in town for a little more money but they will leave the car at the airport for you and pick it up there too. I would never, ever use Rocky Mountain Taxi again. I'm lucky my son is alive. read more

I was in Salida this summer as a stop on a backpack through the area. I needed to get from the trailhead to resupply in Salida. The dispatcher was pleasant and efficient and my ride arrived quickly. The driver knew a lot about local trails, which was helpful. Later in the summer, I needed another ride, this time a longer shuttle. Jessica, with Rocky Mountain Taxi, arrived quickly and gave me a fantastic shuttle ride. She knows so much about the history of the area! It was a fun trip and a great way to get from trail to trail. read more

We called due to a break down, we were told 30 minutes, 35 minutes later we called were told that he was just 5 minutes away, 30 minutes later we called another service because we had not seen or heard from the driver or cab company about the additional delays. The driver finally showed up an hour and fifteen minutes after we called. Since we had already called (no one answered) to cancel, we told him as much. He was unprofessional and demanded to be paid at least $50, to cover his time driving up and threatened to called the police (which was a bluff since no laws were broken). He even became threatening and even to the point of jumping out of his car to intimidate us. The problem could have been avoided if either the driver or the cab company had bothered to call us with an updated ETA. read more

If you are in Poncha Springs or Salida, these guys will pick you up quickly and get you where you need to go. I was pleased to find such a good service in a smaller town. The drivers were friendly, the vehicles newer and clean, and the local metered rates quite reasonable. I especially recommend this idea if you are checking out the local breweries and distilleries. read more
