I stopped in last minute due to convenience of location from my work. Recently my zipper pull came off of my coat in the dryer, I was devastated as it was a new coat. It turned out two teeth came up. The very sweet owner said he'd see if he could flatten the teeth then get it back on, to come back the next day. I did so and he had it like new! I was so grateful that he was able to accommodate last minute and get it done. The most friendly and professional little tailor business I ever found! Highly recommend! Rocky's is no longer located on Center Ave. They moved up a few blocks on Liberty. I updated this information and hopefully the changes will be reflected soon. I took two pairs of pants to Rockys to be hemmed. The store is neat and clean and offers plenty of privacy for changing in and out of your clothes. I dropped the pants off on Monday and he said he could have them done by Thursday, but I wasn't in a hurry so I gave him a full week. As a person who has had to have clothes altered her whole life I found the work to be of great quality for a totally reasonable price. I am glad I have found a quality alteration service in my neighborhood. I like to support local independent businesses and I will definitely continue to give Rocky's my business. read more

I brought in three dresses to be shortened, including one which was fairly complicated (delicate fabric, has a slip, and curved hemline). The tailor talked me through what he would do with each when I had them on for measuring, and gave me a price for all three dresses. They were ready when we agreed (one week later) and they turned out great! Particularly the more complicated dress--he did a really wonderful job with a tricky fabric. Very pleased. I don't know what I would do without Rocky's! I've grown to depend on them and the service is wonderful. Rocky and his wife are such good, genuine, and trustworthy people. They take special care of their customers and I'm always impressed how much they remember about myself and my family. It's a rare experience anymore. They've rushed special items that I've needed for a last minute business trip or important interview. Likewise, they have gone out of their way to make sure items were perfect, repairing things that I didn't notice or removing stains that I didn't think would budge. Rocky is a masterful tailor and he has altered various types of clothing to include all of my husband's suits and some of my more formal wear. I've been there twice to have dress clothes tailored. The first was for a full suit and a pair of pants. The owner said to return the following Saturday, which I did, and he did not have them ready. Not only that, but he acted like it was my fault I showed back up on time. Second time same deal, two pairs of pants, not done on time and when they were done they were not tailored correctly. I'll be going out of my way to a different tailor from now on. In addition, the prices are on the very high side without the service or results. read more

I took several pairs of pants to Rocky's to be hemmed. They were returned to me a full size smaller than I dropped them off. The thighs and legs of the pants were so tight I could barely sit down at work. All my other pants still fit exactly the same, since I know you're all thinking I probably just put on a few pounds. I took the issue to the owner who responded by yelling at me in the store saying it was impossible this could have happened and was extremely rude - talking over me and raising his voice. I actually had to ask him repeatedly to calm down and stop yelling for us to discuss this. All in all he refused to even take ownership of the possibility this could have happened let alone refund for even the hem and clean. So I lost a full wardrobe of dress pants. read more

I have had items dry cleaned, fixed and tailored at Rockys. They are consistent and the nice thing about the shop is that they have a dressing room so they can accurately mark if you need to get anything taken in. Haven't had anything expedited though. Super friendly and the prices seem to be reasonable given the quality of their work. All the money that I have spent on buying my clothes I want to go somewhere I trust. It has been hard to find a dry cleaner with good reviews in the area though I am glad I found Rockys. read more

Rocky does a really excellent job with alterations and dry cleaning. He has hemmed several of my slacks, suit pants, jacket cuffs, and a coat. He has expertly handled my jeans and more delicate clothing like fine suits. You will not find a better tailor in the city. My dry cleaning also comes out nicely (as one would expect). Rocky's is pricier than other tailors and dry cleaners in the city, but you pay for what you get. Parking in the back of his shop is convenient and rarely fills up. read more

I've had a lot of things both dry cleaned and altered at this place (several hundred dollars worth). He is consistently late and there were a couple of instances where I had to take stuff back to be re-done. I've only gone because it is convenient to my location and reasonably priced. I will never go back though. The straw that broke the camels back for me was the most recent time when I had him alter two suits. We agreed on two weeks to complete the work. I came back in three and he hadn't even started. He told me the earliest he could do it was another week and then was late again. Seriously? How hard is this? I am now going to start a search for a more reliable place. read more

I brought two pairs of pants and two (cheap) blazers there to be altered. He was very nice. However, he failed to mention to me that the cost of these 4 things- one of which only needed alternation tape- would come to $96!!!!!! When I came to pick up my items I was extremely embarrassed because I had to tell him I could not afford it. He then told me he could "help me out " and make it $80. I tried explaining to him that the two blazers were only $25 each to begin with. Overall, this was an extremely humiliating experience and it all could have been solved if he were more professional and would have told me that simple alterations would cost so much. I will definitely be searching for a new tailor in the future. Way too expensive if you ask me. read more

I went there to get my dress hemmed last Wednesday and he said the next Thursday and when I went it to get it the day it was supposed to be done, he hadn't even started and he told me he was working on it right now which was a bold face lie. I wish I could leave less than one star. All experiences with Rocky's have been mediocre, at best. However, my last visit was exceptionally terrible. Most recently, I took him three shirts to be dry cleaned. 1 Marc Jacobs dress shirt, 1 Acne dress shirt, and one Brunello Cucinelli rugby shirt. When I got them home, I noticed that nearly every button on all three shirts were cracked and broken. All three shirts had mother of pearl buttons and were noticeably broken. As I pay a lot for my clothing, the details are important to me....like the awesome double-stacked, mother of pearl buttons on the Marc Jacobs shirt. It's not like I could just go to a store and get buttons of similar quality...in pittsburgh. The Brunello Cucinelli shirt had a small, two millimeter stain on the cuff that I asked them to remove. The shirt was only worn once. When I got it back, the white collar and cuffs looked dingy and discolored. Also, there were faint, yet visible stains on both cuffs. They almost looked like water stains or as some sort of chemical was used on the shirt and not fully rinsed. I took them back immediately. I did this because I was pissed, not because I wanted him to fix the problem as I'd never leave any clothing with him again. I didn't want my money back either...it only cost $20. I just wanted to let him know that he ruined nearly every button on my shirts. This was the worst part of the experience. Instead of offering an apology. He more or less raised his voice and told me that he's been in business for 30 years and cleans 500 shirts a week. I'm still not sure how any customer would deserve this type of attitude...especially one whose shirts were just damaged. Nor am I sure how this is even relevant. He could have been in business for 100 years and done a million shirts per week. He still damaged my clothing. All awhile, the lady that worked there was shaking her head and chiming in with comments. They were being so inappropriate that another customer just walked out. Upon leaving I had to remind them that they did not offer an apology. What kind of business does this? This confrontational attitude is what prompted this review. They also tried to say that the stains on the cuffs were like that before I broght them in. They were not. There was only the one tiny stain that needed to be removed. Clearly, whatever they did to remove the original stain left bigger stains. Bottom line is, I would NEVER go here again even if my clothes were second-hand and purchased at wal-mart. read more

I will never return. I don't know if the elderly man who is the owner is just rude or if he doesn't know any better, but he lost a customer in me by turning away my dry cleaning. I am a home owner in Bloomfield and I try to patronize all the local businesses. However, my cat fell asleep on one of my business suits and I took it to Rocky's to be cleaned. The owner inspected my suit and said verbatim "There is animal hair on this suit." I was a little amused at that point and explained that it was the reason I was bringing the suit to be cleaned. He said "No no no cannot do" and basically told me that he would not clean my suit because of the pet hair. I remain shocked until this day even though that was a week or so ago. My cat is more like a member of the family and there was not THAT much pet hair on the suit. What if my child had gotten sick and vomited on my suit? Would he refuse to clean it as well? Isn't that why we bring clothes to the cleaners in the first place? This business is obviously not animal-friendly and I would NEVER return. I've been sure to tell everyone in my neighborhood of the way I was treated by the owner. His own wife looked shocked by his response to me. read more

I almost didn't go to this place due to the negative reviews that I read here, glad that I tried them though! I just needed a new pair of pants shortened, but I only had 2 days. Dropped them off on a Wednesday afternoon, called Friday morning to make sure they'd be done by 2 like they said they would be, and they were already done. Brought a brand new suit to get pressed and pants hemmed . It was returned with a hole in back of suit jacket . I was told it was all ready there and they tried to fix it for me and they thought I already knew it had a hole. "Moth hole " I was told by Rocky and his wife . The Dry Cleaning service is very good and Rocky's wife is lovely. Rocky is another matter. Sometimes he is in a good mood and sometimes he is in a foul mood and you DON'T want to take alterations to him when he is in a bad mood. 9 times out of 10, when I take something for alterations (and I've spent HUNDREDS of dollars in there), he acts like I'm a lunatic for bringing in the garment at all and seems exasperated that it isn't something straight forward like a hem. Today was classic. I had easily over $200 dollars worth of alterations that I took in. After being berated yet AGAIN after I put on the first two garments, I gave up and told his wife I couldn't take the irritation and abuse that he was directing at me. He came back to the front counter as I was apologizing to her and and went on ANOTHER rant at me. Instead of asking himself whether he might POSSIBLY be over-testy about a client's request and (God forbid) apologizing for having upset me, he implied I was too ignorant to understand what he was trying to tell me and invited me to take my clothes elsewhere. Life is too short, and I'm too old to be yelled at by an old white Italian male...particularly over something as insignificant as garment alterations. I'm still not sure whether I'm glad or angry at myself for not giving him back as good as he gave. Rocky needs valium. read more
