Let me start by saying that when it comes to top notch customer service and response, Rod Eliassi and his team just can't be beat. How do I know? Let me share that my husband decided to make a switch to save a few dollars by going with a competing agency that pitched him that they could save him some money. Our experience was horrible. Everything was automated, there was no subject matter expert on hand to answer questions, we had to continually follow up to get policies and confirmations sent to us. And when I had enough and demanded to cancel, we had to cancel ourselves directly with each of the insurers that the agent represented. Yes!!!I had to contact the auto team and submit a cancellation, I had to cancel with a different organization to cancel our homeowners and then it was a different team to cancel the umbrella. My poor husband is still having to listen to me complain that they just didn't handle things the way that Rod Eliassi handled our business. Ironically, the price difference was not that much different... And, when we went to reinstate our homeowners policy, the State Farm umbrella policies which covered all of needs beat their price. Lesson learned! If you have a great neighborhood agent like Rod Eliassi who knows your name, provides you with same day service and knows the insurance business inside and out, that's true value and you should never switch because you will go back. RUDE!!! AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! This review is solely for Rod Eliassi - State Farm Insurance Agent (not State Farm Insurance as a company). I have been with State Farm Auto Insurance for over 35 years. First with Agent Rick Donaldson and his amazing staff, until he passed away in 2016, then automatically transferred to Rod Eliassi. I've probably only called the office less than 20 times in the past 35 years. I have never had any problems. Last May, my partner was picking up food for us locally and stopped at a red light, when he was rear-ended by an old man. Minimal damage to my bumper but some pain in my partner's neck and back. I immediately went on the State Farm website portal to report the accident, upload photos, and the registration and DL license of the man that rear-ended my partner. State Farm requires you to deal with their claims department regarding accidents, not your personal agent. I called Rod's office after the accident and spoke with Enrique, who is very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. I verified my coverage and he told me that I was covered for "permissive drivers". A permissive user is a person who has your permission to drive your car, but isn't listed on your insurance policy. We also added additional medical coverage to my policy in case of any future accidents. Flash forward three months to yesterday, when I received a call from Jasmin in Rod's office telling me that underwriting notified them that my partner is not on my policy. I informed her that I went over this months ago with Enrique. My partner owns his own vehicle and has his own Insurance policy for his car. He drives my car maybe a couple times a month locally to pick up food. My vehicle is over 7 years old and I only have about 7,800 miles. I hardly drive! I told her that Enrique said that we were covered. Jasmin proceeds to tell me that he "may not" be considered a "permissive driver" since he lives in the household and suggested that I add him to my policy for an estimated $138.00 per month. This made no sense. "May not" is not good enough. I need to know for sure. Why was she telling me something different than Enrique? I asked her to forward the Written State Farm Policy Documentation regarding "Permissive Drivers" living in the same household. I then called back and spoke with Agent Rod Eliassi (whom I don't recall ever speaking with). Rod said that I am "probably covered" based on the fact that my partner has his own car, insurance policy and hardly drives my car. "Probably Covered"? Either we are covered or we are not! What kind of answer is that from an insurance agent? I told him I wanted a copy of the policy for my records. Today I received an email with 39 pages of my policy documentation written in Legalese. The term "Permissive Driver" (Enrique, Jasmin and Rod Eliassi all used that term) was nowhere to be found in the entire auto policy. I called Rod and asked him to tell me where in the policy can I find it. He very rudely told me "you have the policy, now read it". I explained that I am not an attorney, he is my agent and it was their terminology not mine and to please point me to the section where it is. He put me on hold, comes back to the call and proceeds to read me something about vehicle sharing that made no sense to me. It had nothing to do with a user in my household who has my permission to drive my car. He then obnoxiously said, "I'm moving on with my day". I told him that I didn't understand what he just read to me and there was no mention or explanation of a "Permissive driver" in what he read. I also asked him to tell me why they were using a term that is not written in my policy. He then said, "you are covered, you have everything, have a nice day!" and hung up on me as I was trying to speak. I was in shock! I would never dream of speaking to a client that way. I immediately called State Farm Insurance to request a transfer to a new local agent. SO RUDE, SO OBNOXIOUS, SO DISRESPECTFUL! read more

The prices are just too high! I have three vehicles. Why would I pay over $2000 a year for three vehicles, two of which are under 3000 miles per year because they are hardly ever being utilized. Once again, it's all about the ZIP Code. When you have a perfect driving record, no tickets or anything else that would put points on your insurance plan and you have a multiple car discount, coupled with a home policy also? There is no way I should be paying over $2000 for vehicles only with liability only on two of them. read more

My father passed over 6 months ago and left me in charge of his estate because my mother is over 80. I noticed that her homeowner's and earthquake policy went up by 27% at renewal even though the previous year's insurance was covering 2 cars, whereas this year's policy no longer has auto coverage (because my mother doesn't drive). I went to see their State Farm agent who has been their agent for over 20 years. I didn't have the best impression of him I must admit initially because he didn't even bother to send my family a condolence card and my impression got worse because it was very difficult to get an appointment with him because he only comes in 2-3 days a week and doesn't do early mornings (when I say early, I don't mean 7am or 8am, I'm referring to 9am). After meeting him, my sense is that he's not really interested in helping my mother reduce her premium, he's interested in making sure his residual income is not adversely affected by reducing her premium. It wasn't until I was leaving his office that he learned friends often ask me for referrals because they know that my expectations are high so whoever I go with, for sure this is someone who operates their business like I do, going above and beyond their call of duty. Ironically, he had the gall to hand out 3 of his business cards and asking me for referral business. Shortly thereafter, I had sent him an email with a follow-up question only to have to follow up with him 10 days later because I never got back a reply. When I did get a response, it was very obvious that it was done very half-ass. You had to read the email multiple times to guess what he was trying to say because verbs were missing, punctuation was off, etc. So I yelped looking to switch agent. That was when I came across Rod Eliassi. I saw that he was one of the highest rated agents in my area and read many reviews exalting his superb knowledge and excellent customer service...that was the good news. The bad news is that, he was a State Farm agent...the very one my mother was with. Why is this bad news? Because being in sales I know that even if he were to take over my mother's account, State Farm would not pay him any commissions because in their eyes, it is existing business. But I figured I have nothing to lose. So I emailed him as well as one other highly-rated State Farm agent in the area and basically was very forthcoming about my predicament acknowledging that I don't know if it would be worth their while to meet me since we are already with State Farm. Considering the renewal was due on July 12th and I was emailing them after-hour on the 2nd and this was before the 4th of July weekend, I was not too terribly optimistic about getting what I needed in time. Positive first impression...his prompt reply. While everyone was getting ready to take a break and celebrate the upcoming 4th of July holiday, Rod replied back the very next morning. He even offered to meet me the Friday after the 4th knowing how time-sensitive my meeting was. Second positive impression, he spent an hour sitting down to address my questions without benefiting in any way shape or form. And he has a knack of explaining things in a comprehensible user-friendly manner. I sat down with my father's agent asking the same questions and the delivery was nowhere as articulate as Rod's. Third positive impression, unlike my father's agent who wanted me to refer him business even though he didn't do anything to earn it, I didn't get that "what's in it for me" vibe from Rod. Understand that I'm in sales so I get the asking for referrals thing...that's part of generating new business. But there's a difference between doing it because you have proved with actions that you deserve referrals and there's a difference in treating it as a numbers game (i.e. I'll just ask anyone and everyone and one day, one will stick). What I appreciate most about Rod is that I could sense his trustworthiness. I felt like he was transparent and that's super important to me. If you cannot trust your agent (which was the case when I met my mother's agent), it's hard to have a positive relationship with him. I was actually surprised to learn that in Rod's opinion, the agent that's presently handling my mother's policy is actually a good one. So I chopped it up as this man may be a good agent but he's heading towards retirement and maybe he's just suffering from what I call "senioritis". When I was in high school, this was a common ailment from which seniors who already got accepted into a college would suffer. They began slacking in their performance because they're no longer as motivated knowing they only need not to fail the last semester of school rather than get straight A's. And then you have nerds like me who would continue doing my best regardless and I'm willing to bet that Rod was one of these students who continued to do his best regardless as well. Great State Farm office! I had to purchase a car on a Monday morning, and Enrique (who is awesome) prepared everything over the weekend. When it came time to buy the car, he handled everything with the dealership and the process could not have been easier. The following day, I met with Rad (also a great guy) to sign some papers and he was very professional, smart (he has an MBA), and friendly. He took the time to get to know me, and I felt taken care of. Overall, both Enrique and Rad are professional, friendly, and great to do business with.
