Rodda's premium exterior paint is so good that there is no second best. My place was painted 7 years ago, and the paint looks as good as it did then. I have applied many big-name paints, but none can compare with the coverage and weather resistance with Rodda's. I bought one of those new townhouses (with the ridiculously narrow staircases) that are popping up all over Seattle. Every single time I've moved something - pretty much anything that might be 3 feet in width - I've scraped the side of my walls. So after a year of wall scratching (and a new roommate), I decided that maybe - just maybe - it was time to do some patch work. The construction company that built my abode purchased their paints from Rodda. This location was the closest to my house, which is how I ended up here. The staff was really helpful, though finding someone to help me was a little hard (Either their understaffed, or there was a high influx of customers for a Friday afternoon.). The paint color, I was told, was an "older color" (I guess they have been renamed since my house was built.), but the staff was able to find a conversion chart and get me the right paint color. Then they helped me to get the other stuff I needed: spray-on texture (they also did a demo with me, which was very useful), a paint roller, and a basic "how-to" list. The prices were reasonable too. I'm no home improvement expert, but I have been to the Home Depot and Lowe's before: everything one needs to texture the walls and paint (and fix the holes) for under $50 (including the gallon of paint) seems really reasonable to me. Like I said: great service, and knowledgeable staff. I just wish there was more of them to go around... And I really wish that they'd volunteer to come home and do my painting for me. read more

I was looking for old-fashioned roller blinds. I had gotten a quote from Atrium in Ballard--geez it was high. I didn't think simple roller shades should be so expensive. A friend suggested Rodda. Rodda has a friendly small business feel. Mike & Mark were great--helpful and informed. Helped me to chose company & style of shades. I ordered shades of a higher quality at almost half the price of my earlier quote. read more

Hilarious! Okay, the important part: Extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful staff, who even recommended I run home and grab my Chinook book coupon to save on the paint I was buying---over $40 value! I was in and out quickly and easily, and I had one-on-one guidance in picking out the gear I needed for painting my (admittedly small) space. Would return here in a heartbeat. Been here twice on two separate occasions. Each time the staff was very welcome, helpful and honest. They weren't trying to upsell me on the most expensive product and infact recommended a cheap product given my needs. The service here was much better than at other stores I stopped in at. This is the place where the guys in white overalls get their supplies. It isn't the sort of place that housewives spend hours browsing through a zillion different shades of off-white color chips, and I wouldn't expect a lot of hand-holding. They carry the quality products that help the pros make a living. I get great results from their store-branded 100% acrylic exterior latex. It lays down without brush marks, typically doesn't need a second coat, and really holds up to the Seattle weather. I bring my own colors and they do a great job of matching them. Rodda has a great selection of top quality Flood deck and siding stains. (I prefer Benjamin Moore interior paints and haven't tried Rodda) But, their brushes are great, and everything in the store seems to be very competitively priced. read more

Really annoyed... I brought in the sample paint for them to match and I was supposed to be called in one week to pick up my paint. They lost my order and they "asked around" however there was "no recollection" that this order was placed. Sadly, I still have to bring this sample in and reorder because my house paint was from this exact company. No apologies. Nothing. Im a pro painter and have been working on homes and commercial buildings for years. Im www.thatcheappainter.com in medford or. A couple of the paints that are my 'go to' paints are Rodda AC909 Satin Exterior and UnuiqeII Semi-Gloss. I get excelent results and longevity out of this stuff. Very happy with the south and north stores in Seattle. We used their paint to cover our smallish commercial space - about 4K square feet of space and were happy with all of the paint. We used high hide satin master painter for the walls and got good coverage with one coat. Lace and velvet for the ceilings. They look great. Not too flat not shiny. We mixed renaissance melamine with master painter happiness go hide satin and it looks great with the walls. The paint was expensive but a good value overall. And they helped us out when we were in a pinch staying open for us late in a Saturday so we could paint Sunday and get the job done before the contractors came in the Monday. After I received a free paint wheel (fan?) from the 4th Ave South location (vs $25 of more from other paint stores), I returned to purchase paint. One Coat Cover! Really good quality paint. I painted the kitchen, entry hall, hallway, and bedroom. The bedroom was a horrible lime green and the light brown Rodda paint covered in one coat. I recommend Rodda paints. I'll head there tomorrow for paint for the living room. read more

I'm not sure what it is, but every Rodda I've ever gone to has been solid. This one in particular has really cool dudes working there who will offer good advice and work fast once you order. I particularly like their zero-voc offering Horizon, I'm using it for pretty much everything on my projects. read more

Have you ever tried to match paint and find the shade is not quite right or it doesn't have the same sheen as the original? Well, look no further! Jaye matched different paints perfectly for me, and she gave me excellent advice when it came to choosing colors for the outside of the house. I've never had to wait too long to speak to her, but if I had to...believe me, her advice is worth waiting for. Rodda is now my paint store. Wish I had discovered it earlier. read more

Poor quality oil paints that do not cure. I purchased their floor tough fast dry polyurethane paint for the stairs and floor in my basement. This paint has not cured after a week . This oil will not not dry, it has just turned into the consistency of thick carmel and has become a nightmare. I called to ask for suggestions and I was given the # of their paint distributor Dave Baines. He said this product should have been thinned with mineral spirits before using, and blamed it on our application. His only suggestion was that we scrape all the paint off. Rodda's manager (a pleasent woman), disagreed with the mineral spirit suggestion and the label did not state thinning as a requirement. Bottom line, this paint is awful and I did not have this problem with Miller paint, Benjamin moore or Sherman williams. Do not buy this expensive and awful product. read more

With a large cedar shake siding project ahead of us, my wife and I visited all the Seattle area reputable paint shops to find the right staining product. Often receiving conflicting input - even from employees with the same store - we ended up going with Rodda Paint on Stoneway. The manager, Jaye, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and her staff which included Mike and Laura were also very helpful. i've never written a yelp review before. never any review of anything actually. i'm really disappointed in the "low VOC" paint I bought here recently. it is terrible. it smelled horrible. the benjamin moore low VOC paint we also used had virtually no odor. really bummed. my lungs still hurt. :( read more
