Unfortunately I was very disappointed when I came after a contact lens appointment with a pair of glasses with a broken nose pad. First of all, they charged me 10 dollars for one tiny latex nose pad and I have never had to pay for something that costs very little to purchase. The person who put the new nose pad on my glasses did not make sure that it fit on my face correctly and my glasses were ill fitted and very uncomfortable for months. Also, I am allergic to latex so now I also have a rash on the side of my face from this one 10 dollar latex nose pad. I found a good optometry office closer to my home in Hercules and will not be returning. read more

Well...I probably should have written this review decades ago, as this is how long I've been going here. I've actually been going here before Dr. Upshaw and Dr. Kopiko had the practice - since I was a dorky teen that need specs but hid the fact by never wearing them. I no longer live in the area but I grew up with this practice and they know my eyes. I actually drive through several counties just to see them. I love them. And Leilani has ALWAYS helped me pick out a good frame style since I'm terrible at knowing what looks good! And they are always patient with me about how long I take. Most thorough eye exam I've ever had! Dr. Upshaw is a great optometrist, who has the best interests of his patients in mind. He's friendly and takes his time to real up on the patient's history. The location itself is in a mini strip plaza in Rodeo that is adjacent to a laundromat, Chinese restaurant, and a salon. The staff is great as well. They sanitize everything from the exam room to the glass fitting area, which is real nice. read more

Both doctors and staff are exceptional. We've been to other optometrists for convenience, but find ourselves coming back to them for their professionalism, efficiency, always warm & inviting atmosphere and the quality glasses. Some of their glasses are expensive & I have bought their prescription designer sunglasses, but on occasion I have just picked up the prescription & gone to Costco for the less expensive basic frames. I've been coming here for a few years now and they're amazing. The staff is one of the most inviting and friendly I've encountered for medical office. There are two doctors, Dr. Kopiko and Dr. Upshaw and I've have been examined by both. They are both amazing doctors and I do not have a preference over them. You will be in good hands either way. I started taking my mother here and I've referred others here as well. Keep in mind they don't have a big eyeglasses selection, they're a smaller office but they a good selection and of course you can always go somewhere else for your frames. read more

The Dr. and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The Dr.'s take time with each appointment so I don't feel rushed as well as explaining what they are doing in examination. I cant say enough good things about my first visit to Rodeo Family Optometry. Dr Upshaw, his staff and the office itself are awesome. From the stringent Covid prevention measures, to the clean modern facilities, high tech equipment and courteous assistants, everything was top-notch. Not to sound like a cliché, but Dr Upshaw went above an beyond your typical eye exam. He spend well over an hour with me trying to get to the bottom of a peripheral vision problem Id been experiencing for years. I was beginning to think I was just imagining this problem. Sure enough, something odd showed up on one of the tests he did. He went over his findings with me in easy to understand terms and then recommended I see a retinal specialist just to make sure everything was OK. Wow, what a relief to finally get some answers. Dr Upshaw knows his stuff. Obviously, Ill be returning here for all of my vision and eyes wear needs. This is a nice little business with kind, honest and knowledgeable people running it. Great doctors and staff! They're always very kind, and are conscious of time and make sure to get you in and out at efficient times although if you have questions or want to spend time looking at glasses they are more than happy to help and give you time. Dr. Upshaw is just the best. He is so nice and he helps explain any concept that may go over your head. He is gives great recommendations to help protect your eyes and vision. Always makes me feel comfortable and happy with my treatment plans and and answers any questions I might have. Stopped by on a Saturday after making my appointment two weeks in advanced. They mailed me any paperwork needed so I can fill out prior to my appointment and that made things a lot easier on the day of. Once I was checked in I didn't wait very long until I was brought to the back. They did some tests and then I saw the doctor. The doctor was so nice! Very personable. I'm always thankful for that kind of medical attention. I visit the optometrist quite often as a daily glasses user so I've come across my fair share of questionable care. But not here. I can't recall the doctors name (I think Dr Kopiko?) but she took the time to look at my eyes after expressing a concern and even offered recommendations to avoid anything getting worse. After my exam came my favorite part which is choosing a new frame. Not going to lie, I was a bit sad to see their Ray Ban selection was so small but they did reassure me that they can order any frame. But I eventually decided on one they had because I was too scared to commit to a pair I've not tried on. I've had a bad experience doing that and the frame was too small for my face. Overall a great friendly staff. I'm glad I decided to come here. read more

My family and I have been seeing both Dr. Kopiko and Dr. Upshaw for the past 3 years. We switched to this local option after being uphappy with the glasses upsell at a different doctor's office, and it being too far away. We've been so happy at Rodeo Family Optometry. I'm very glad we switched. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect given the office being in Rodeo. Very friendly staff. Super patient with kids. The doctors explain everything very clearly, and are happy to answer questions. The office is very clean, and the equipment is thoroughly sanitized between patients. I haven't ever been pressured to purchase glasses and when I have purchased glasses, I have not been pressured to buy all the extra features (anti-glare, scratch resistant, etc.). read more

They do a great job at explaining everything and I trust their judgment. Their office is a short drive from Martinez and there is always accessible parking. I've been going to Dr. Upshaw for years. He's extremely pleasant. Like geez I don't know if I've ever met a more easygoing doctor of any kind. It's always quick and his staff, although it's changed over the years, has always been very friendly and professional. Their selections at a little higher priced but that is what happens when your support local and small businesses. Turnaround time on glass is about a week and they keep many contacts stocked on hand. Dr. Upshaw recently told me about a more affordable brand of lens he was prescribing and I appreciate that. read more

The optometry office looks great...very organized, clean, and professional. They definitely adhere to Covid-19 guidelines. The staff are friendly and they really care about you. The two young ladies that helped me were very nice and made me feel welcomed. They accommodated me with a last minute eye exam request and got me in right away. It was a long time coming for me in terms of getting glasses and I had just been squinting away for years but push came to shove and it was time to get it done and when my ophthalmologist gave me a list of places to go, Im glad I chose these guys. I've been seeing Dr.Upshaw and Dr.Kopiko for about 6 years now and they literally go above and beyond the call of duty. I have had numerous incidents where I run out of contacts before my script is due or before my order has arrived and all I have to do is call the office and they get my a pair of contacts to get me through until I get mine. Dr. Upshaw was excellent. He was friendly, knowledgeable and didn't make you feel rushed at all. He provided in depth information about what was going on with mine and my families eyes, so that we walked away with more knowledge. The fact that he's local and the office is located within our community, is a huge plus as well. The office staff are very sweet and helpful. Everyone is all smiles, all the time. They all will do anything they can to help you out, even if they're swamped. They were super, super busy when I came in to get some insurance verification and instead of making me wait around, as well as everyone else, they took down my information and said they would give me a call back; And they did! I gave them 4-stars, because I wouldn't call them a one-stop shop. I highly recommend getting your vision checked and other optometry needs here, but the frames might be better at an establishment that specializes in frames. read more

This is a marvelous practice. The staff does not turn over, so they're doing something right on the inside too! They get you in quickly (both in for an appointment and into the exam once you arrive), the doctors are warm and conversational but professional. You feel cared for and remembered. I am someone who gets very anxious about any medical interactions at all but I actually enjoy coming here. They also sanitize, sanitize, sanitize at EVERY step along the way.
