The last 4 appointments I went to I was seen by a retired dentist who did all of the main dental hygiene work and then a young girl who was NOT a dental hygienist or anything official (I know because we had a conversation about her going to schooling for this eventually) came in and did a half ass dental polish. Then when you go to check out you can't get back in for your next 6-month cleaning it's atleast 9 months. If you have to reschedule (shit happens in 9 months) you again will not get in until another 9 months. The retired Dentist is Dr. Dodds, I believe. He is nice and does his best. I don't have any real complaints about him truly. Dr. Cheesman is kind of loud and arrogant and definitely does a rushed look over. In my opinion, he bit off more that he can chew and likes the $$$ more than actually talking care of his patients correctly. I went to a new dentist, and they found a fracture in my tooth (verified with an actual picture) they said, "it had been there for a while and there was decay under the filling" resulting in crown. They also showed me (with a picture) that I had two teeth that had sealant missing and I had complained about cold sensitivity in that tooth multiple times at Cheesman's office. Honestly, I think if you are a person who doesn't have any problems and just needs a routine cleaning (might be a half-assed one) about once a year they will be sufficient. But if you have problem teeth and/or want proper dental hygiene treatments every 6 months consider going elsewhere.

I worked with the dentist to submit a predetermination of benefits to my insurance so I would know exactly what to expect financially. Once the predetermination of benefits came back, I paid that full amount at the time of service, believing everything was settled. About a month later, I received an additional bill for $12. While the amount itself is small, that's not the issue--the issue is transparency and accountability. I reached out simply to understand why there was a remaining balance after a pre-estimate had already been completed and paid. Instead of providing a clear explanation, I was told to contact my insurance company myself. As a patient, I believe it is completely reasonable to ask questions about billing--especially when I took the proper steps upfront to avoid surprises. What's most concerning is that rather than addressing my question or helping clarify the discrepancy, the practice chose to dismiss me as a patient, citing a lack of trust in their billing process. That response felt extreme, unprofessional, and dismissive of a patient's right to understand their own healthcare costs. I expected better communication, transparency, and respect. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling that patient concerns--especially around billing--are not handled with the care they should be.

His office is clean and comfortable, office staff and hygienists are friendly and professional, and Dr. Johnson is friendly and really takes his time with you. He accommodated a same day dental emergency for my son, and scheduling is convenient and you don't have to wait weeks for work. After my initial cleaning, I was able to come back and have an old filling replaced. He was generous with the Novocain and really took time to do it right. On my last visit, the staff even accommodated a walk in patient and got him signed up for his first appointment, something my former dentist wouldn't have been able to do for months. Not dreading dental appointments anymore!

Plus, that dentist was in greenwood and my wife and I had moved to the far west side of Plainfield. So we began searching. Luckily, so luckily, we found Dr. Maupin. When we first got our teeth cleaned here, my wife had 7 cavities and I had 8! That was 6 months after our previous cleaning with the above mentioned, likeable, expensive dentist. So, although he was likeable, he clearly was doing nothing to help our oral health. After 3 years, some fillings, and a multitude of cleanings at Saratoga Family Dental with Dr. Maupin, we still love it here. We recently moved to the north east side of Indianapolis. Our new home is near a plethora of dentists, but we drive 45 miles just to see Dr. Maupin. If you need dental work, get here now. You won't regret your decision.

When we arrived they basically told us that my son, who's a minor, can't be seen unless he had a photo identification. They never mentioned that over the phone and it wasn't on the welcome email we received the day prior. It's a huge inconvenience to drive all the way back home to get an id for a minor. Instead of wasting time and gas that could've been obtained on the next visit or sent via email. I had to drive all the way back home just for my son to keep his dental appointment. After that, they took forever to see my son. Because things weren't running smoothly, I went to the to desk to make sure that his cleaning was going to be performed as we requested when we set the appointment over the online receptionist and sure enough, it was NOT in the notes! Please know that these commercial offices lack communication with the 3rd parties that schedule these appointments. Another sign of unprofessionalism: While waiting in the lobby area, the receptionist basically told another patient that his bill is past due and she shared his balance for all of us to hear. They would see him today but after that they couldn't until he paid his. He tried to explain his case but after that exchange I knew this was NOT the place we needed to patronize. This is something that should be discussed in another room. I was embarrassed for him and his wife. My son's appointment was at 8:15 am and he wasn't seen until 8:50. They took X-rays and now I'll have to come back for his cleaning. Because this is where they take his insurance we will come back for the cleaning but after that, we are not coming back for anything else. It so hard to find good service and offices that respect the privacy of the patient and our time. Unfortunately we have to go where the insurance tells us and it's hard to pick where you want to be see I could share more but overall the experience was horrible. After seeing the doctor it was nothing but charges and things they can charge us for. WITH insurance they wanted to charge $200+ dollars for a cleaning. Never again. I'd rather take him to my dentist because at least there we won't be treated like another patient they can make money off of.

Dr Lee and his staff really impressed me and did a great job of accommodating for my sons needs and putting us both at ease, as much as possible. Staff is incredibly professional yet, empathic. My fears and concerns as a mother and his fears surrounding having anesthesia for the first time were handled very compassionately. He is now 3 days post op, and we're shocked at how well he's recovering. Both my partner, myself and our daughter had nightmare experiences with wisdom teeth removals, so we were all concerned for him. The instructions they give for aftercare are the most thorough I have ever received. I really feel that has made a huge difference in his recovery. He didn't even want the pain medicine after the first day, just the ibuprofen for shockingly mild swelling. If anyone in our family needs oral surgery in the future, I would return, most definitely.
