A friend of ours recommended this dojo. What a unique and wonderful place! We went for a free trial class and were instantly impressed. All of the staff and the Gracie's are so good with the kids - very gentle and encouraging, but with structure and consistency. They treat each child as an individual and take time to work with each one. We have felt such sincerity and kindness from everyone we have ever met there. Our little one's physical and social confidence are already noticeably growing after only a few classes. And this is such a positive and engaging place, it's always a very preferred activity for us. Parents and families can stay to watch and learn by observation. There are also games like air hockey downstairs for after class. So, it feels like more of a family hangout spot than just a drop-off and pick-up activity. I should also include that as an MMA fan, I partly picked this school because of Rodrigo Gracie's top credentials and legendary career. This alone makes the dojo unique, but when combined with the warm, family friendly approach they have, it is truly a special place. read more

Great BJJ dojo/gym especially for beginners and kids. Top level instructors and instructions. Rodrigo, his family wife and daughter and team of instructors are friendly, intelligent and teaches from their vast experience and heart. In addition to their kindness, their instructions is top notch in the industry. I know a lot of people might complain about the cost and I agree that it can be a little cheaper but this is a guy that won several championships K1, Pride fighting and etc. Most gyms main instructors don't even show up but Rodrigo and his wife and daughter is there. This dojo really provides great base for self defense as well as those who wants to compete. read more

We started Jiu-jitsu approximately 10 months ago looking for something to do to get the kids out of the house. We were referred to Rodrigo Gracie's school by a friend with the Torrance police department. The 1st thing you notice when you walk into the gym is the smell of how clean it is, compared to other gym or childrens establishments. It is almost like all of the mats were brand new; freshly wiped down waiting for us to come in. My wife and I were very impressed at the professionalism and the connection that professor Rodrigo had with the children right off the bat. My children are 9 and 12 and they fit in perfectly with this program. It did not take long before I was excited to join the gym and join everyone on the mat in search of my blue belt. The atmosphere that Rodrigo Gracie provides is both motivating and positive, I'm very excited to have my kids spend their time here in the afternoons after school. After being on Covid lock-down for so long and in serious need to exercise, I was a bit concerned going back to a gym setting. All my concerns were gone the first day I worked out. The place is "SPOTLESS", "SUPER-CLEAN", 'YOU COULD EAT OFF THE MATS IF YOU WANTED TO"....I don't know how else to describe the level of cleanliness and care they take to make sure all is done to ensure a safe, clean environment. I checked out other gyms before and this place is exceptional. You can tell the owners take a lot of pride in their business and in how they teach their students regardless of age. The level of teaching, guidance and attention to each student is incomparable. I've been to several gyms over my life and this one is by far the hidden gem. So lucky that its here in the South Bay....and if it wasn't, I would drive to wherever it is. Fantastic place. read more

I moved from Chicago 2 years ago and was looking for somewhere to train and was told about Rodrigo Gracie Jujitsu from someone I met who now I am great friends with because of the family atmosphere that Master Rodrigo provides when training at Gracie Jujitsu. I was welcomed by all including Master Rodrigo and the brotherhood that is formed is beyond what I could of imagined. The training is second to none Professor Rodrigo has personally made me better as with all the brothers I train with, they all push you to get better and help you along the way. I have really enjoyed my couple of years of training at Rodrigo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. The other students are a great community of people who are willing to help you learn. What stands out to me the most in my time here is that 1) Rodrigo, as a competitor in multiple combat sport formats brings with him world class and varied experiences. Some schools focus on sport Jiu Jitsu, others self-defense. Rodrigo knows it all and has put it into practice in world class competitions and can teach techniques from multiple angles. His personal experiences are woven in to help explain why the details matter so much, in what he is teaching. 2) Rodrigo teaches. This is NOT a school he has just lent his name to. He teaches all of the classes. He isn't a surprise guest instructor that you may see a couple times a year. He is actively instructing every class. He knows his students and takes a personal interest in helping you progress. I had the pleasure of meeting Rodrigo in Tokyo for the Pride Fight in 2003 to watch his uncle Royce fight Yoshida. I lived in Atlanta at the time and had never trained BJJ before. I will never forget sitting next to him for breakfast at the hotel where all the fighters were staying and asking him if he was also a fighter. At the time Rodrigo was undefeated and one of the top fighters in Pride, besides being Gracie. He was very humble in his response and continued to talk with me for a few minutes. Fast forward 15 years later and he is now teaching my son who absolutely loves it. They both have even inspired me to start training again after a 10 year layoff.  I've trained at Brazilian Jiu Jitsu schools all over the world and I will say that he is one of the best instructors I have ever trained with. His instruction, knowledge and academy are all impeccable. Everyone who trains there is also very friendly and helpful which is a clear reflection of Rodrigo. In most gyms you would be lucky to have a black belt teach a kids class on a daily basis. Here you are not only getting a black belt but a member of the Gracie family teaching EVERYDAY. Rodrigo is dedicated to teaching the art of jiu jitsu in the same ways it has been passed down to him. I have been training with Professor Rodrigo and his team for about three years now. It can be very intimidating and/or scary walking into a new BJJ/MMA gym as an outsider or even coming from a different gym. Professor Rodrigo and his team nixed that theory right away as they all welcomed me with open arms and treated me like a brother right from the start. The facility is remarkable and extremely clean. Cleanliness is something that is taken very seriously even pre-COVID as the mats are swept and mopped at least twice a day. Professor Rodrigo teaches every class and does a phenomenal job covering all aspects of true Gracie Jiu Jitsu. He goes over standup, takedowns, striking, and of course the ground game. His kids program is also top-notch and he teaches a bully response course which teaches kids how to de-escalate the situation and seek out adult intervention before using Jiu Jitsu as a last resort. There are many gyms in the area, but to have an experienced professional MMA fighter and a member of the Gracie family as the main instructor who is always available and takes the time to ensure the techniques are being learned properly, is something not to be taken for granted. He is very humble and his classes are not only engaging and fun, they have the highest standards of discipline as well. This is an awesome place to send your kid to learn the art of Jiu JItsu. My son has been training under Rodrigo for over a year and a half and the results have been amazing.
