Rodd's Western Palace has a large selection of boots to choose from. Service was amazing. All the workers assisting were friendly and helpful. My 24 year old son loves this store. Every-time he is home from Arizona this is a "must go" place during his trip home. They specialize in western wear. One third the store is mens wear. Wrangler, cinch, etc. One third is women's wear and the back third is desiccated to boots. So many boots. There is a separate building where you can buy hats. The sales people go out of their way to fit you in the correct sizes as the boots and hats can get very expensive-- the quality so far has been exceptional. read more

Drove by this place hundreds of times. Never felt the need to go in; didn't seem like my kind of place, though I was a little curious. Today I needed a belt, and this was about the only place nearby that might have one, so, what the heck? Walked in and, wow, not my kind of place. But very very much its own kind of place. You might love it. It was classier than I expected, and there was a nice kid's section, plus men's and women's areas. I found a nice plain black belt, pretty much what I needed, and looked around a bit. Tons of other belts; very few plain ones, loads of um, interesting patterns. Good quality, and at first I thought it was a little expensive but I saw it for the same price on Amazon. Service was friendly, not pushy, efficient. I might actually be back someday. If this is your kind of place, well, you will like it. I liked it more than I expected to. This shop is large and impressive. Clothing and accessories are in the main building. From clothing to blankets, to belts, boots, hats, small decorations, knick knacks, etc, for adults and children. I shopped the clearance racks, and found a nice selection. Even then prices were $20-$30 for western shirts, and they are good quality. I don't know western brands, but those brands are probably here. The staff is friendly. In another building is the Tack shop. Just for fun stop by here when you're traveling on I 71. If we could not leave any stars that would be ideal, however we have to give something. They were very rude and disrespectful to my husband when he received 2 out of 4 pairs of jeans. Basically calling him a liar and trying to prove that the package has 4 pairs of jeans. They tried to send a picture but they only had 2 pairs in stock so I don't know what they were trying to prove. They said Amazon is their biggest fraud, so I also don't know why they go through Amazon if that is the case. Avoid the place if you can. They aren't worth a damn. read more

I ordered a Los Alamos Stetson Straw Hat from Rods, it came in without the neck tie strap. I called an the customer service rep said I could send it back and get another one. I said its only the strap and you would be paying 4 times to ship it back and forth. He then said he would check and see if they had a damaged one or a damaged box they could get one from. No reply in 4 days. I sent an email and 3 days latter the person apologizes for the last rep and would look into it. It has been 3 weeks now and no strap. I tried to leave this review on their site but the look at them first before posting them and they only post positive reviews and never posted it. read more

Was told on the phone that the item was available but drove there (35 miles) only to find out that they only had two in stock and neither fit me. Not too happy for being a first time customer. I specifically ordered some shoes from this company. Two of the same kind, different sizes. I patiently waited for the shoes in the mail only to find out, only one pair was shipped. The other is apparently back ordered and will be for another month. Nowhere on the website did it say the shoe was out of stock in that certain size. Hence the reason I ordered from Rod's. If I had known they were back ordered, I wouldn't have placed my order in the first place. Don't pay for expidited shipping since it's a SCAM. I ordered items for a Bridal Shower online and paid for UPS Expedited shipping- 3-5 days and my item came 6 business days afterwards, which ruined my ability to bring my gift. I called them and they claimed that the day they ship doesn't count so "technically", it arrived on time. When I called UPS, there was nothing stated on my item that the item was to go other than their basic ground which is no better than free shipping that they offer. Rod's tells you they use another carrier for free standard shipping which is a bait and switch. Charging someone $20.00 extra dollars to your standard shipping should have made it there on time and shame on your for not refunding my shipping costs. Unfortunately I won't be shopping with you again since scamming people out of paying for what they percieve to be faster shipping mentod is not good business ethics. Im a tall white man with a hispanic wife. We went in to the store in order to buy a pair of boots for myself and my wife decided to look for some for her as well. While I was asked multiple times if I needed help as was every single other person that walked in to that area, my wife was completely ignored. They even walked around her in an aisle in order to ask someone else if they needed help. SCAM ALERT! Do not buy their gift certificates or order online. I received a gift certificate for Rod's. I placed an order online, used my gift certificate and paid the remaining with my credit card. The next day I received an email stating one of the items were discontinued. Rod's redone the order and charged all of it to my credit card totally ignoring the gift certificate. When I calleD the empLoyee said it was credited back to my gifT card. I went to the store to use the gift certificate and it was not any good. Prices are what you should expect for high quality western clothing and accessories. At Quarter Horse Congress,held in Columbus, there is a shopping area with hundreds of vendors from all over the USA, my wife and I still bought boots for our kids at Rods after we spent the day at the show. Very disappointed with rods customer service. There products are usually always quality hence why I purchase from them. But after this experience i will not order from them any longer. I had placed and order on April 5th. I awaited the 4 days for packaging and 4 to 10 business days for shipping. Placed a phone call to customer service and she told me it would be shipped out by the middle of week. After not receiving any info mid week I call back and ask for a tracking number if my products have been shipped. I was than told it has gone to be reviewed by a supervisor and I will be getting a call back by the end of day. So I waited and never received a call. So now I'm irritated and call back and speak with a gentlemen named Joe. He tells me my items are packed and ready to be shipped tomorrow morning I will be getting a call in the morning when they leave the warehouse from the supervisor ormanager. Next morning roles around I never get a call so I wait until 11 and call in and speak with Jessica, who tells me she is not sure what the situation is that she needs to contact her manager so I wait on the phone I'm than told she cant speak to the manager that she will get ahold of her and call me back by 12.30. Once again no call back so at one I call back and get Joe again. Explain to joe I am beyond annoyed now and would like to speak with jessica he graciously says well I can try to reach her give me a moment and I'm than put on hold for 25 mintues So I call back on a different phone and well joe answers and I said well I'm on the other line supposedly on hold for you to give me a response he directly cuts my line off and gives me a the old middle over the phone line before I can even finish my sentence. This is the most fantastic place I have ever been to in Columbus. I completely disagree that you probably won't find anything to buy here!! OMG. What's not to love about genuine cowboy boots (with real brands that real cowboys buy!?), spangly, fringe-and-sequin-laden pink (and every color) satin blouses, real cowboy button downs with pearl buttons, Levi 501s, saddles, horse shoes, ten gallon hats... I could go on and on. If I was a real cowgirl (with an expendable income - this stuff is quality/expensive!), I'd buy one of each thing in this place. I definitely plan on buying some Ariat boots in the near future, and that's actually the truth. Rod's is a goldmine of culture! I couldn't stop myself from babbling on with joy the entire time my friend and I were in there... and yes, it's all wood and leather smelling... and THEN the saleswoman was kind enough to tell us of the Phenomenal Extravaganza that is the Quarter Horse Congress, which was going on at that very moment (this was in the fall) at the Expo, where more of Rod's inventory could be found, along with real live horses and cow-people. Effing fantastic. My friend and I immediately made a beeline for QHC and were beside ourselves with joy. Forgive me, but we don't have this where I grew up, and I just think it's So Amazing. Rod's Western Palace is one of my favourite experiences ever in Columbus. It's awash in a culture that is sort of forgotten by most, but clearly cherished by those who are a part of it. Not that I've put an all-points bulletin out for western wear in Columbus but if there's a better place than Rod's Western Palace show it to me. From the moment you stride up and onto the log-style porch to come in the front door Rod's puts on the dog-and-pony show for cowgirls and cowboys - 100% no holes barred YEE HAW. Enter and head all the way to the rear of the store. After all, you're there for a pair of nice boots, right? The selection for women seems stupendous. It's got to be 3:1 in favor of female pony riders. That's cool. As a guy I enjoy seeing variety and also a solid sampling. This isn't phony. Boots of all colors, makes, height, toe (pointy, square, round ropers, etc) are on the walls. And there is a corner section for work boots. Steel toe western boots, lace-ups, and high and low-rider uppers. It's very cool. And don't forget THE BELTS! Lots of 'em. Okay, you turn around and walk from boots towards the front entrance and you'll find jeans, western wear, belts, belt buckles, rhinestone jewelry, a decent selection of western hats (probably fewer than I expected) and a load of house decor goods. There's a kids section, too. I have purchased at least 4 - 5 shirts from Rod's (two went in the bag today). I've yet to buy jeans but that's coming. So I'm a YAY - fan of Rod's. Western wear isn't my gig so I'm not falling all over myself with 5-stars but I can see how anyone with a hankerin' for horses, silver, line dancin' and some country lovin' would rate Rod's the best in show. This business ships using "business days" only, so it can take weeks for them to get the package to the post office.... Telling me it's a "family business" is no excuse for laziness... I can take a package to the post office and have it anywhere in the US in days... Apparently this "family" is not aware, their shipping is horrible, and over a week later, I'm being told: "it's just been delivered to the list office to be shipped..." If given the chance to make another purchase, I'll think twice before supporting this business, given how little effort they put into getting their merchandise delivered in a timely manor. read more

I had high hopes for Rods products. At my wedding we'd registered with Rods. Unfortunately, the website didn't work. After numerous issues with the registry we opted for gift cards. But we've continued to be beyond disappointed once their products made it to our door. In the past year I have ordered off line on three separate occasions. Each time products have been delivered damaged. The first was a concho trash can. I was surprised that they didn't even have it wrapped properly. No wonder it busted. The second was a bathroom set. The soap dish was broken. Now the third, a towel rack. It came bent in the box. When I tried to straighted it up to be able to mount it on the wall it almost broke further. It's unbelievable to me that they are able to continue their business with such a lack of attention to detail. I won't order another product through Rods. Nor will I suggest anyone else. read more

DO NOT purchase from Rod's online. I am 85 years old and ordered a Trail of the Painted Pony as a gift. I did not open the box and when I gave it to the recipient, it was broken. The box was not damaged which makes me think it was shipped from Rod's this way. Because the gift was purchased more than 90 days before, they would not give an exchange. I have bought more than 100 Ponies from them, and have never asked for an exchange in all that time. They were not willing to make an exception. My money will go elsewhere. Yours should as well. I have been shopping at Rod's since the 80's. It was the place to work and shop. The hat booth always had amazing talent and darling guys. Remember Andy?! Anyway I live in Texas now and wanted to show my calf roper that Columbus has an amazing western store. Well maybe it was a bad day or maybe that's how Rod's is now. I was buying my calf roper a straw hat for the upcoming summer. Brought it over to get shaped and was schooled on what they couldn't do. Mmm that was a first. I was only wanting slight modifications done to compliment his face and shape. Something I'd had done with the many hats I've bought and had creased over the past 37 years. I asked if they had a box because I wanted to ship it home to Texas vs taking it on the plane. Well that was a problem also. First I was told they only had boxes for the hats that come in boxes. Then I was told they were out of boxes because they've been handing them out like crazy with the holidays. Mmm interesting which is it? Anyway back in the day they were just about getting you what you wanted, creased it to your liking and finding a hat box for you was not a problem. Oh well I guess they proved me wrong. We'll head back to Texas and I'll get his hat there. I wonder if Scott still owns this place? All things must change I guess. I have to say STAY AWAY FROM ROD'S online ordering at all cost. Don't dare to add any items to your cart because you will be charged at any random time (without even proceeding to check out process. Rod's charged my card WITHOUT MY CONSENT OR AUTHORIZATION for an item I simply had in my cart/basket. I tried digging into their website to remove any credit card info that might of been available, but they don't have an option to do so. I ended up calling customer service and oh boy was that a nighmare! Your call will be answered by a monotoned male that will not help you and most definetely won't solve your order concerns/problems. I called them and the male rept that answer was nothing but helpless. All he told me to do was to report the charge to my bank and let them take care of it. This man didn't offer any sympathy or willingness to admit they had commited an error! From what I know if the customer is right, you as the CUSTOMER REPT / Company will do all in your power to make the customer happy and solve the case. Never did I even hear a single apology! I'm so upset about my experience with Rod's that I doubt I will ever purchase again. Truely A NIGHTMARE. Really hope they would put more training and funds to have a better customer service center.
