They have improved in that they no longer call customers insulting names like "shoelover" when I walk in, but they still don't seem to realize they are in direct competition with online choices. Online, my size, 10e, is never a problem. In this store, they seem to operate on some formula for in stock sizes that dates back to the American 1960s. Most of their styles do not have a 10e, they have 10, 10.5 standard width, and 10eee. They say, if I don't see my size, to ask a salesperson, but this results in the sales person looking through the same stack I just looked through (taking a little longer than me) and pronouncing that they don't seem to have my size. Very annoying. I'm going to stick to ordering directly from Allen Edmonds or Kiziks.

The pickings for my size were slim and I had to dodge a giant cart of shoes that a worker was using as their staging area, giving me a look like I was inconveniencing her for daring to shop while she is stocking shoes. The nerve of me! I did find some heel guards at a good price and the sales staff at the front of the store was pleasant so the experience wasn't ALL bad.

She chose a pair of Irish Setter boots that felt great in the store, but after wearing them around the house for a while, they started to feel too narrow. When we called, the associate told us to bring them back and explained our options: we could try the next wider size or have the boots professionally stretched. After trying on the wider pair, my daughter decided to have the original boots stretched instead. She wore them on a hiking trip shortly afterward and found them to be very comfortable. The service and willingness to problem‑solve made all the difference.

Most recently, I went to look at hydration supplies as I'm preparing to run my first marathon, and the woman who helped me was so informative and provided different opinions on products that might help me make a decision. There was no pressure to buy and despite my indecisiveness, she was very patient - even at almost closing time on a Saturday night! In addition to asking questions about running gear, I also asked her and her husband questions about races in the area. Since they're experienced runners, I figured they would be great resources for well directed half marathons and marathons, and sure enough, they were. While locally owned running stores are not always the cheapest (compared to online), they cannot be replaced. You aren't paying solely for the product at locally owned and operated running stores, you're paying for knowledge and service that can't be provided online. Quite often, performance running stores are really intimidating for more recreational runners and in some of the local running stores they really aren't that friendly. In my running group, we have discussed which stores pressure their customers to buy, which ones we don't go to because we feel the people that work there are 'running snobs', and which ones are not helpful - Endurance House is not on that list. I highly recommend runners of all abilities visit Endurance House, particularly new runners.

The lady that usually assists me had a mask on, since she no longer had the plexiglass . She was actually disappointed and said that the store took it away. I'd be nice if management considered what works best for their staff since it's a really simple item to put on the counter. This is an older lady that could have personal health concerns. Customers don't really mind about this protective measures, but it makes a difference to the workers. Something that simple would help staff stay happy and most likely healthy, as well.
