They seemed to be highly rated; they also have on their website that deva cuts are $45+, which is definitely lower than average. I tried making an appt online, but couldn't for more than one service. I tried calling and leaving messages for days. It's like they don't want you to have an appointment; I should have taken the hint. Finally I contacted through Facebook, bc I was out of ideas and had already purchased the groupon; I was able to make my appointment for 5/7. I have health issues and ended up being hospitalized for that week, so I had to cancel. Another week of trying to call to no avail, before FB messaging again; finally got to reschedule for 6/11 at 11am. Mind you, that date and time was selected BY THE SALON. I confirmed, reminding them that this was for a deva cut and color, and that I had a Groupon. When I arrived on the day of my appointment, there was only Amber in the salon DOING SOMEONE ELSE'S HAIR. A bit jarring, since I had the first appt of the day. Without looking, she said I wasn't in the book. She went over to double-check, "Oh, you're the deva cut?" "Yes, that's me!" "Yeah, I don't have you in here." I showed her my messages with the salon, where they suggested and I confirmed this date and time. She simply repeated that she didn't have me in the book. Then she said I could either leave and reschedule or wait for her to finish the other lady's foils and she could do my cut...she wouldn't have time for my color, because she "had other appointments". I had already pushed my vacation for weeks thanks to all the health stuff, and was trying to squeeze this in right before - so no, I wasn't going to be pushing it again just for a hair appointment. Nor was I going to take another hour-long round trip to NJ for no reason. I decided to wait for the trim, bc I felt cornered and without options, but honestly the color was the whole reason I started looking for a salon. I was incredibly disappointed. I waited for an hour while she put foils in this lady's hair. She finally told me it was time for my cut. SHE THEN PROCEEDED TO DRY-COMB OUT ALL OF MY CURLS. (Besides the fact that you should never dry-comb curly hair, a deva cut is meant to be cut curl-by-curl.) Honestly, I was already so livid at the experience that I just wanted to get out of there, and I was looking for a pretty simple cut, so I was hoping it wouldn't make much of a difference, despite the fact that I was paying more (and only using this salon) for a specific type of cut. While she did take the time to let me know what she was doing at each step, at no point did I get more than a few minutes of Amber's attention, bc she kept having to leave to take care of the other woman's color. I felt like she was rushing me at every turn. I was proven right when she asked how I liked it; I said it looked okay so far, not realizing she was done? She left me with my hair still wet, and started scrunching out the gel anyway, which left a lovely combo of frizz and crunch. She then told me to buy a pack of clips on my way home so I could pin my bangs while they dry to avoid the horrible part that she left there. (How about pin them yourself, so we can see how they look finished?) She told me I could "feel free" to cut them myself at home if they were too long. Seriously?? I wanted to cry. This was supposed to be my one day of "being pampered" and I'm left with a wet head, a shopping list and an order to cut my own hair. Not to mention my still-messed up color, and no time to make another appointment. Then I remembered my Groupon - $30 off $60, which made sense when I was getting the cut plus color. I mentioned it to her, and she said I could use it next time (riiiiiight) or that, since my deva cut was $55, I'd only be missing out on $5 from it. Um...why my deva cut, which was really just a trim that she couldn't even bother to do correctly, finish, or give full attention to, was upcharged from the base $45 price, I have no idea. Why she'd upcharge me AT ALL when she messed up my whole appointment scheduling, I have no idea. She also mentioned on the way out that she "never schedules deva cuts and color together because that cut takes longer than average"...BUT YOU DID SCHEDULE THEM TOGETHER. TWICE. This was a terrible experience and at no point did Amber offer anything to make it better. I didn't receive an apology or a discount, and instead, I was overcharged, made to wait an hour before being rushed out and treated rudely the whole time. The whole experience screams bad business.

She's young, she's personable, she's creative and she loves cutting and styling. She stays abreast of trends and nails it whenever I describe what I want. She rarely runs late on appointments and its been my experience that the salon will always make room for last minute appointments. (I'm not good at planning ahead with my salon time). Absolute Nightmare Experience -- The Worst Salon Visit I've Ever Had…read more I have never written a review like this before, but people deserve to know what they can expect. This was, without a doubt, the worst salon experience I have ever had. I went from long hair to a short bob with highlights, and what I left with was completely unacceptable. The haircut was unbelievably crooked. It wasn't just slightly uneven--it was visibly crooked and obvious enough that anyone could see something was wrong. The highlights were a disaster. They were extremely brassy, and there was a large clump on my bangs that stood out like a sore thumb. The color was nothing like what I expected after paying for a professional service. The stylist ignored the picture I showed her. I showed her exactly how I wanted my hair styled, with a wavy look, but instead she used a diffuser and made it curly. It looked nothing like the picture I provided. During my original appointment, the stylist stopped what she was doing, removed her gloves, and walked away to show another stylist something on her phone. I found that extremely unprofessional and distracting during a service I was paying for. After seeing how bad the cut and color turned out, I contacted the owner. She told me to come back and they would fix it. When I returned, the explanation I was given was that my haircut only looked crooked because I part my hair differently than the way it was cut. That was not true. As God is my witness, this is exactly what was said during my original appointment: The stylist asked me, "Do you part your hair a little to the side?" I said, "Yes, how can you tell?" She responded, "Because it just seems like it wants to lay that way." Those were her exact words. She knew how I wore my hair. To later claim it was cut for a middle part was simply not accurate. When I repeated that exact conversation to both the owner and the stylist, it was dismissed as if it never happened. Instead of taking responsibility and acknowledging the issue, I felt like I was being blamed for something that was not my fault. The stylist (the owner's daughter) was shockingly unprofessional. From the moment I pointed out the problems, she spoke to me in a rude, dismissive tone and acted as though I was the one who had done something wrong. She took no responsibility for the crooked haircut or the brassy highlights. She became visibly angry, walked away in a huff like a child, and for the remainder of the time I was there, she wouldn't even look in my direction. No customer should ever be treated with that level of disrespect. The owner did work on correcting the issues when I returned. However, after having to come back because the service was not done correctly the first time, I was told I would have to pay extra if I wanted my hair blow-dried. I ended up leaving with wet hair because I did not feel I should have to pay more to finish a service that needed to be corrected in the first place. One thing that always stood out to me during my visits to this salon was how quiet it usually was. Most times I was there, there were hardly any other customers, and on some occasions, I was the only customer in the salon. They have been established for a long time, so I always wondered why it seemed that way. After the experience I had, I guess I understand why. The mistakes with my hair were disappointing, but what I will remember most is how I was treated afterward. Mistakes happen, but professionalism, accountability, and basic respect should never be optional. The stylist should have enough respect for her mother--the owner--and for the business she represents to treat customers with respect and dignity, especially when a customer comes back with a legitimate concern. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I paid good money expecting professional work and respectful customer service. What I mean by that is this is not the Red Door Spa of the late 80s. However, the work that is done here is incredibly well done. They clearly make every attempt at ambience with spa music and keeping things mostly quiet or hushed, although I'm not going to deny that the rooms are "curtained" rooms (areas sectioned off by curtains). Nonetheless, there's perfect privacy within those. Can you hear other things happening around? Yes you can. But I have to tell you that that did not bother me one bit. If you're looking for some exclusive situation, they do apparently have private rooms. Whether or not they are soundproof, I cannot attest to. However, the work that was done while I was on that table was terrific! The woman who worked with me was Yo Yo and she was utterly fantastic. From the time that I arrived until I walked out the door--which Yo Yo opened and held open for me out of courtesy-- I was pampered. I was escorted to the back, given a robe/drape, given a few moments alone to undress from waist up as I was partaking in the 60 minute head spa. Yo-yo checked with me before coming back into the space and then assisted me (not that I really needed it) with getting on the table so that I was positioned correctly. She was gentle. She was smiling. She was quiet mostly, but did stop to ask questions (water temp, pressure of massage, etc.). She began her work, which started with a dry run through of the hair with various tools. If you've seen the videos on social media that keep popping up for head spa you have the general idea of what I mean when I say the tools that they use. I was there on that table for an hour. I had a mini facial. My head was massaged multiple times both dry and shampooed (twice). I had my neck massaged, my upper chest, my upper back and then all the way down my arms to my hands. It was wonderful. I have no complaints whatsoever. The products that were used were very light in their scent, but pleasant nonetheless and they were not greasy. The steam and whatever conditioner that is on my hair has made my hair so shiny and soft. I have processed hair. My hair has not been this soft since prior to bleaching/coloring. I cannot say enough good things about this experience. I expected sort of what I saw on the social media postings by various other "spas" and that's exactly what I got and more. Yo-yo met me out at the table where there was the hair dryer (and a snack and bottle of water) and blew out my hair a little bit. Was it styled? No. That's not what she's there to do. I walked out with dry hair. I don't have a problem with that. I kept a hat in the car and a clip to put it in an updo if it didn't look manageable. It looked fine. I was 100% satisfied. I hope that if you're reading this review, you have the same type of experience. I thought it was worth every penny and I will be going back again.
