This location is convenient for me. Now I do want to start off by saying after so long and several trials and errors, I can proudly say I am CCRI's Class of 2025! I graduated happily last month and that was all thanks to the Fresh Start Scholarship that the school provides it gives students 2 years free to obtain their associates degree to returning students and adult learners like myself. It was my saving grace, between this scholarship and Pell grants I got my degree debt free, didn't pay not one Penny thank you CCRI! I attended mostly online classes which was perfect as I was working while going to school. But I did attend few of my classes in person and I did enjoy the professors very much- they're much better than when I remember from way back when- they seemed to care and were able to teach properly without just reading you a PowerPoint. The campus is huge and has tons of space to study, cozy chairs and tables and a lot of common areas to mingle and catch up. I also was apart of Phi Theta Kappa the International Honor Society for 2 year colleges. The school has a chapter if you get accepted into the program please join it's so worth it so many perks- this is invite only based on your academic excellence grades. They also have tons of clubs get involved and meet new people and have fun. My guidance counselor Dennis B was awesome. He helped me with my game plan the whole way through and helped me succeed and he was my saving grace! It starts off great when you have an academic advisor on the same page as you. Also if you're struggling financially and think you have to quit school- don't. Check out your options and resources at the school, they might be able to help. Essentially they want to see you win not lose. CCRI was great to me. But I don't miss that huge hill and the horrendous parking, or forgetting where I parked because I was running late to class, that's the only thing I don't miss. To students fresh out of high school you DONT have to attend a university or an expensive school right away just because someone said so, CCRI is perfect to go debt free and get the same education as everyone else. That's just my opinion. Especially since right out of high school we don't know what we want to do or if we do we change our mind several times. Give it a go! Adult learners as well go back and get that degree!

Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) was established in 1964 and is the only public community…read morecollege in RI and it's the largest in New England. The main location is in Warwick and there are various other locations throughout the state; those locations are Providence, Lincoln, Newport, and Westerly. There are approximately 16,000 students and 300 staff. This building in Warwick, was built as a brutalist style; it was considered contemporary in the 1970s. I think it looks like a large submarine; personally, I think it's an ugly building lol. The parking lot is huge but always packed; it's on a hill so if you're parked all the way at the bottom of the hill, you're going to need to give yourself extra time to get to class. I took a few semesters at CCRI, and many of those classes were at this campus. Since this college was more affordable for me, this was the best route at the time. I had a good experience while studying there. The teachers I had were decent. My plan was to get my Associates degree and then transfer to a 4 year college. I deducted a star because the wait-list for certain programs was astronomical. I was on a wait-list for the X-ray technician program and that was about a 3-5 year long wait from what I recall. Overall, I think it's a great school to start your college career after high school. It's also a great place to take refresher courses. They also offer 1 year certificate programs. If I was still living in RI, I would definitely take some courses, especially if it's free or partially free.

The shuttle buses are very comfortable and spacious. For $40.00, a family cant beat the value that is provided for the 2 day orientation events. Parking was free both days and families received 2 meals on the first day as well as breakfast on the second. Bookstores are equipped with both books and swag. A little pricey, but thats typical of any campus bookstore. The Harborside Bookstore was geared toward the culinary students and therefore had most of their cutlery and cooking utensils. A great addition to this tour would have been a driving tour of both the Harborside and Downcity campuses...but understand such things cost money (especially the fuel). Hope lil bro has a great time at school in the fall!

The campus is perfectly groomed and I have to say for someone that doesn't like grass (like me, true city girl) they did have some comfy grassy areas to just hang out. I really liked how the buildings were set up on the habourside, with all the restaurants and starbucks (BIG PLUS) in the same area. All the culinary classes in one building and other classes in another. They were very organized when it came to the flow of the orientation schedule and definitely lessened that feeling of anxiety all beginning students have. I would recommend this school to anyone that needs a more well rounded college experience and a staff that is always willing to help you succeed.

I have Angela Boffi; she is brilliant. I would recommend this place to anyone who has a good work ethic. Hadn't really thought much about this place until I read about the sex abuse scandal, but I spent a…read moresummer there in the 70s to make up in algebra and Spanish. I must say that the level of instruction was much superior to to that at the (supposedly prestigious) midwestern day prep I had come from. Place was older than God. The stone steps and stairs in the dormitory had deep troughs worn in them from a hundred years of wear. The students, as I remember, were rich New England types and kind of assholish. They had sailboats the kids could use, and I walked down and swam in the ocean a few times. Water was very rough, it was unsupervised, and I have no idea how I didn't drown. My roommate, from my own hometown, was stabbed in the hand over a pinball game. I guess it was bad because he wore a cast for the rest of the summer. Someone had the idea to bring in Puerto Rican kids from Harlem as part of a Head Start program. A well intentioned gesture, no doubt, but pick less stabby kids next time please.

The teachers are allowed to move in between private schools unfettered like priests in the Catholic church. I know of one history teacher at St. Georges that had beaten his wife at a prior boys boarding school, who was protected by the head master of that prior school who was also a wife beater. The headmaster was eventually fired. These folks should not be allowed as role models for our children and should be thoroughly vetted in this regard.

Amy and Lori (and all of the other women) are so attentive to all of the children. The communication between the staff and the parents is awesome!!!
