A gentleman called to confirm my availability for a delivery and it was easy to give instructions on where to leave the flowers. He was so friendly! They were delivered with care. DON'T, I suggest, just don't! This florist was commissioned to provide a large floral wreath for a mature man's memorial; we wanted an elegant and understated arrangement (photo below was from the catalog) Highly unfortunate, Roger's Park Florist substituted the large orchids for large sunflowers (note: several very small orchids were there but not readily visible) This substitution drastically pivoted the sentiment, wherein we were looking to convey statesman, rather we got a very very nice arrangement, but one that was more whimsical and glaring... borderline garish for a somber event In that I am not an expert I did a quick google search prior to my review and... not surprisingly... no...sunflowers are not an appropriate substitution for orchids. First, orchids are hot house flowers so should be available year round. Second, the family should have been contacted for approval prior to such a severe change. I bought a small orchid plant here last year and was instructed to only water it once every ten days, so I followed that dutifully. However, within less than a month the plant was losing all of its flowers, so I decided to try watering it slightly more often. Then a few weeks later, it became absolutely COVERED in white plant mites, so I had to dispose of it. (I do not have any other house plants or possible source of these mites, so they must have been dormant in the moss that came with it or something.) Considering that orchid was about $40, I was hoping it would last longer than a couple months before dying! And the mites really grossed me out because I had never seen anything like that before in my life. I had to Google it to figure out what the heck they were. I've been coming to this floral shop for years and I have always known that they are not the best at customer service, especially if you are a minority. I have brushed it off because I hate to be a problematic person. But this last Mother's Day was my last straw! I ordered 2 arrangements and simply questioned the elderly male owner about the difference in price and size. He lashed out on me and said he wasn't going to argue with me and even threaten to take my flowers away (for reimbursement). I never tried to argue or raised my voice. I was desperate to take my flowers because I was short on time and didn't have another option, otherwise I would have gotten my reimbursement. I felt so humiliated at the way he yelled at me and there were other customers in the store. I wanted to run out crying but kept my composure. I will not return back to this shop! We ordered flowers for a wake and funeral from Rogers Park Florist. The flowers were delivered to the funeral home but never made it to the room my Aunt was being waked in. They were apparently given to the wrong funeral. The florist came out personally to the funeral home to try to determine what happened. They personally delivered a beautiful new arrangement the next morning to the funeral even though the error was not theirs. I called Rogers Park Florist (after hours!) and they called their delivery staff to get to the bottom of it. My story began Friday evening, on-line, as I was searching for a business that could send flowers the next day to my friend. I looked at ProFlowers, Teleflora and 1800Flowers some could deliver the next day but the charge was $15-$20. The earliest delivery for some was Monday or Tuesday. So my husband suggested I try the place across from Chuckie's on Morse. He said he had a positive experience doing business with them when he bought flowers for me from them before. So I called Roger's Park Florist to see if they were still open but it turned out that they were already closed, however the gentlemen on the phone told me that they will reopen at 10am on Saturday. The next day, I stopped by on Saturday morning and immediately saw very pretty already made arrangements. I said I would like one just like that made. The florist lady agreed and took the information. She said she could deliver the flowers at 1pm the same day for $5. Wow!!! I asked her how will I know that the flowers were delivered. She said I can call them by 3pm and check. I said ok and left. At 1:05pm someone called my cell phone. I picked up but there was no answer. I recognized the florist number. I was worried for 5 minutes but I figured that most likely they got the telephone numbers confused. At 1:10pm my friend called me to thank me for the flowers. Mission accomplished! read more
