DO NOT USE ROGOVIN MOVING AND STORAGE. This was, without exaggeration, one of the most unprofessional and disrespectful service experiences I've ever had. PICKUP: The movers arrived already frustrated and openly complained about having to move larger items- items that were absolutely disclosed ahead of time. They told me dispatch never informed them, which immediately put me in the middle of their internal failure. Because of this, they were completely unprepared to properly pack those pieces despite the fact that I paid Rogovin in advance to pack them. As a result, both items were significantly damaged. When I called dispatch to resolve it, instead of taking responsibility, they argued with me and blamed me for not packing the items myself... for a service I was literally paying them to perform. I was charged for packing that never happened. DROP OFF: It somehow got worse. Immediately, a mover disappeared into my bathroom and later came out apologizing, asking if I had spray. I later discovered he hadn't even flushed properly. I had to clean up after your employee in my own home. That alone is unbelievable. They also don't tell you that you're required to stand there and help them count every item during unload, or risk issues later. That burden is entirely put on you with zero warning. And then the most unacceptable part: They left with one of my major belongings still on the truck. Instead of immediately correcting their mistake professionally, I was told to meet them on the side of I-95 as if that's a normal or reasonable solution. I spent hours of my workday trying to track them down on a highway and never found them. When I called dispatch again, I was met with hostility and told I would need to go all the way back to Connecticut to retrieve my own item... after I had already moved to Maryland. Let that sink in. This company: * Damaged my belongings * Charged me for services they didn't perform * Left my home in a disgusting state * Lost one of my items * And then refused to take accountability or fix it in any reasonable way Until my missing item is returned to the address I paid to have it delivered to, this review will remain. My son served his 5 years at New London Naval Submarine Base and Rogovin was to pack and ship his belongings to CA. His belongings went MIA for weeks because when they transferred his things to a storage facility nothing was labeled. Worst of all is all the boxes...every single one was busted up. Lot's of broken stuff including a some collectibles. Worst company ever. I am sure they will blame the storage place but they logged in the damage when they received it. We had a really disappointing experience with Rogovin and I'd strongly recommend against using them. My family used Allied Van Lines for our out-of-state move and Rogovin was the local partner who handled packing and loading our household on to the truck. We had a great experience getting a quote and the initial packing went okay, but the trouble started when the Allied driver spoke with the Rogovin team and determined he couldn't get his rig down our long driveway, which meant they'd need to load everything onto a smaller truck and then unload/reload it onto the larger truck--at a additional cost of nearly $1200. With our entire household in boxes and less than 24 hours until our scheduled pick-up time, Rogovin told us we needed to foot the bill for the change, even though the issue should have been identified during the initial quote and included in the original cost estimate. We offered to split the cost, since it was their mistake and we had a signed contract, but they told us the contract was non-binding and if we didn't pay the additional fee in full, they wouldn't show up. We felt backed in to a corner and had no choice but to pay. They admitted it was their fault, but just didn't seem to care about customer service or even the ethically right thing to do. Absolute worst moving company I have ever dealt with. Military Move. Our 8th move in 23 years. The Worst!!! Movers Assigned to us. Pack out date was 6/15. Movers showed up at 7:45 after being called the day prior with a window of "between the hours is 9 and 11" per Michelle. The two movers (who were absolutely amazing, the company and communication are crap) packed out three rooms and left at 11am. A 3 hour day. 6/16 we waited until 9:30 before making a call to the office to find out why no one had come to the house to start packing. The movers were sent to Rhode Island instead. They arrived after 3pm to pack for another 3 hours. Friday, 6/17 they arrived with crates and a truck. We explained we needed to be out of our rental that Friday and turn the home over to the homeowner. They kept stating they had until Monday. Again I had to reiterate that we did not and it was told to them several times that we had 3 days. They were able to pack out the house and trucks on that Friday. However it looked like rain so they threw the remaining uncrated items (also a crate was broken) into them empty back of the box truck. I called on Tuesday 6/21 to ask about our items. I was told there was no driver and our things were still in the warehouse. I called again the following Tuesday 6/28 and received the same answer. This time asking if my loose items had been crated. I was told yes and still no driver. After an email to Cartwright (2x) and no response I called the main number (Cox) along with the receiving end of our goods and all fingers are being pointed back to Rogovin. We were told that there is a driver and they have been going back and forth with Rogovin on getting a weight. That is the only thing they are waiting on. So my HHGs have been sitting in a warehouse for 15 days because Rogovin will not weigh the items?! I called Rogovin and told them that they were the problem, the hold up and all fingers are pointing at them because they refuse to get a weight to our moving company/driver to pick up our HHGs. I have been absolutely respectful and more than patient up until today when I finally reached the main POC for this move and they stated that they have been making contact with the company that continuously fails to given them the weight and it's been a back and forth ordeal. I told Michelle they were the problem, the get my weight and get my shit to me. She has been nothing but rude, dry and zero personality. I have no idea how this company is in business after all the reviews I have read you to this point. Had I known I would have denied the request for this moving company. If my things arrive undamaged and I may retract my review - again, the actual movers were amazing, kind and extremely personable. However, costumer servcie, Michelle, she need not work with the public. Communication is nonexistent. And then you're treated and talked to like youre less than because they have posessuon of your belongings because why......they haven't weighed it yet. They've had 15 days. Unbelievable. Horrible customer service - completely incompetent. Had to beg for the written contract, but they "were too busy with a stack of paperwork" to ever send it. After we made other arrangements and figured they just must not need business - we receive a call that the driver is on their way to our house?!?! Excuse me? Is that a joke? Excellent experience on a move from CT to NJ. A company move of a two-bedroom apartment, including packing of items. They arrived on a Thursday and packed and loaded everything that day. Delivery on a Saturday. Two weeks later, I can say confidently that everything is accounted for, and nothing was broken. Everything they packed was carefully done. I even had some very odd, one-off times (like a length of 2x4) that were tagged and delivered. I dealt with Patrick for the initial binding quote, and with Dan and several other movers for packing and unloading. Very happy overall, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend. As with any move, I'd suggest you correctly insure your goods, and follow the instructions they give you about what should not be transported (e.g., currency, important documents, etc.) read more

Rogovin Movers for UB and HHG should never be used by anyone. - For UB they didn't tri-wall and tried to send a crate even when told not to so a repack on their site had to be done. - For HHG, day 1 minimum packing, lots of cigarette breaks, They showed up day 2 hungover with 6 Crates, 3 unacceptable broken, moldy (Black) and mildewed. Day 3 they show with 9 Crates to finish and only 8 doors. They worked until 2000 and wanted to take items in a open crate. No way, I had them drive to Home Depot in Middletown and I bought a 4'x8' sheet of plywood, had it cut to size and thus they has a ninth door. Their employees and management are nothing but a bunch of Carney Workers. Asking for money, claiming the boss isn't paying them. No respect for personal property. Truck only had one headlight. Unsafe operation. Low confidence in satisfactory receipt of HHG was expected. Top it off Newport Naval Base TMO showed up to QA the 3 days after it was complete, way to go Newport, asleep at wheel. No response from company. Numerous broken items. This company takes full advantage of military personnel. #congressionalreview Military Moves gone bad! During a 40+ year career, we moved over 12 times - state to state and overseas. Without question this was the worst move of all - a 20 mile instate move. A simple, pre-packed move of a 2 bedroom, single story house took over 8.5 hours. The crew was slow, took many breaks and was marginally experienced. Came with no tools, no parts box causing wasted time looking for parts from freezer and fridge doors (that didn't need to be removed). We realized today that the reason the door of our 2nd fridge wouldn't close properly was because 2 of the 3 bottom hinge screws were missing. Would give zero stars if it were possible. read more

Worst experience ever, and worst customer service: totally unresponsive. They packed my TV themselves and broke the screen, I got a check for $30 because the tv only weighed 51 pounds and its by weight. My stuff arrived in CA 19 days late and we had to sleep on an air mattress for weeks. They never updated us as to where our stuff was, and calling them for and update was useless and it seemed to annoy them that we even inquired. Look elsewhere for movers! read more

A few days ago Rogovin relocated many of our furnishings from Northeastern CT to Brooklyn, NY. Our experience with Rogovin was excellent. I have moved many times in my life, and have never experienced such a professional moving company. Every person down the line was courteous, helpful, and respectful of our possessions, home, and time. Communication could be a little spotty, but they came through with flying colors in the end. Most of the items we moved were antique or family heirlooms, which they packed and moved with the greatest of care. Not one item was damaged or mislaid. With so many rip-off moving services, I would definitely recommend Rogovin for their integrity of business. read more

My experience with Rogovin Moving was horrible. They were unprofessional and I uncovered stolen/missing items that the owner of Rogovin was unable to address or account for. I had a box of jewelry, a coin purse of laundry quarters, and a bag of misc. clothing, portable speakers, etc, set aside for me to bring personally (not to be packed by the movers). Before the moving team came to load the trucks I noted the location and position of these items. After the moving team left the entire bag of clothing/speakers was missing, the coin purse was left behind but $10 in quarters were missing, and my jewelry box was laid on its side, and boxes within were opened. I did not note any jewelry missing. When I brought this up to the owner he was very defensive, hands off, and said it's a police matter of theft because these items were in my apartment building basement, and that I had no direct proof that these items were stolen by his employees. He recommended that I file a police report but did not make any note or gesture of compensating me in any way, or addressing the matter with his employees. Quite frankly he was rude about the whole missing items issue and handled it very poorly. Although I don't have video evidence of his employees stealing these items, they were the only ones in my basement that day (it's a small building with few tenants), and these items did not reappear after I unpacked at my destination. Part of what lends to my suspicion is the unprofessional nature of their employees. The person who did the quote initially reeked of cigarette smoke. Only half of their movers wore any type of uniform/shirt denoting Allied Van Lines or Rogovin Moving. One was an adolescent/young adult who spent considerable time with his hand scratching inside his pants. The owner seemed frazzled and sounded harassed each time I would speak to him. I received a verbal scheduling of packing/loading dates 1 month prior to the move with the owner stating 'we'll try to move it earlier', but did not receive a final confirmation of the dates they were coming. At a bare minimum they were able to pack/load and deliver my items (minus the missing/stolen ones) on the dates agreed upon. Nothing was broken. So if you're looking for a bare minimum moving company that does not represent Allied Van Lines degree of service then this business is good enough. read more

The worse experience ever on pickup. Every piece of furniture was damaged from the mover that picked up our items. He spent 30 min arguing on his cell phone with his wife loud enough for everyone to hear. He covered no furniture. Dropped boxes. The only items that were not damaged are those we packed. He could care less about our items. Thank goodness the mover at our destination was excellent. His name is Dan and he moved our items by himself caring how he moved our items. Unfortunately the furniture was already damaged. Our treasured pie case had the closure missing. Every leg on every other piece of furniture were scratched badly. Our jewelry piece had a gash in the front which can't be repaired. Keep in mind there were only 5 pieces of furniture to move. Will never ever call them again and will never recommend them to anyone. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR INTERSTATE MOVES!! My parents moved from New London CT to Houston TX in May of this year and hired Rogovin with Allied to pick-up, store and move their items. The owner of Rogovin, Aaron, told them to be sure to give him 2 weeks notice for the items to be delivered, which they did. The original signed contract stipulated the items would be delivered NO LATER THAN JULY 25TH. It is now August 3rd and we are being told THEY DO NOT HAVE A DRIVER AND HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THE ITEMS WILL BE DELIVERED. My parents are elderly, living in an empty house, and sleeping on a sofa sleeper. We have called Aaron and Allied Customer Service many times over but to no avail. This company calls itself "Moving & Storage," but I think they should change their name. Possessions need to "move" in order to be a moving company. It has taken weeks and weeks so far. You will almost always fail to have your calls returned or your emails replied to. In one of the handfuls of instances where you get a response (and even in these isolated moments, they don't tend to address your actual question or provide you with information), the representatives from the company will assure you that they will get a driver's details to you "shortly." You will find out later that the driver has not even been assigned. I believe that's called a "lie" and a "misrepresentation." Then, they will blame the company for whom they act as an agent - Allied Van Lines. When you ring Allied Van Lines, they will blame Rogovin. While they keep blaming each other, your possessions will sit somewhere in a warehouse in Connecticut. By the way, if you think I'm being unfair, don't take my word for it. Have a look at their BBB rating of an "F" for failure to respond to complaints or to provide service. Look up the case of "O'Brien v. Rogovin Moving & Storage Co. Inc (2006)" to find another case where their representative repeatedly failed to respond and/or lied to the plaintiff. In that case,'The Court finds that the record supports a finding that defendant acted in a "highly unreasonable" and reckless manner. Id. ("recklessness" "must be more than a mere mistake resulting from inexperience, excitement, or confusion, and more than mere thoughtlessness or inadvertence, or simply inattention . . . .").' I reckon when a judge is giving you a Yelp review like that, you should have reexamined your business practices 9 years after that case was ruled against you. read more

Don't even bother contacting this company. It was nearly two weeks and four phone calls asking for the written contract and other disclosures/paperwork. Each time we were told by the move coordinator that all the paperwork would be emailed that day--and it never was! We didn't feel comfortable doing business with a company that would not commit to us in writing.
