Yesterday afternoon my pups were outside playing in the yard. All the while I was tending to my…read morechildren and organizing the house because we had our realtor's photographer coming today to take photos of our home. Well I got so wrapped up in what I was doing I completely forgot about them. They were in the yard for almost an hour! And with all of the snow that's melted our yard is pretty muddy. Well when I opened the door to let them in they were completely covered in mud! ((My husband said they looked like they were impersonating otters )) And of course the first thing they did was throw themselves against a freshly painted wall! Haha I was in full panic mode! It was 3:30pm they were covered head to paws and I had so much left to do. I didn't want to add scrubbing mud out of every rug and wall to the list. So I called every groomer in the area 70% didn't answer the phone and the others were wrapping up, booked for the evening, and or closed. I called Grateful Dog and explained my situation and said I knew it was a complete long shot but thought I'd ask anyway. The girl was so sweet (I didn't catch her name) and even though they were nearing closing time she took both of my super muddy dogs and worked overtime on them! They looked brand new and their fur felt extra soft! She really saved our derrière! Thank you to The Grateful Dog of Rogers Park we are sooo grateful! If you haven't already give them a try! They definitely go above and beyond for their customers. We will definitely be returning!

I work from home and have been clipping my own dog's nails for four straight years, so I don't…read moreparticularly need most of the services at Bark Place. However, I got this dog sweater from this location and thought maybe my dog would wear it once or twice for pics but never again. (I'm not a huge fan of dogs wearing clothes, but I had to admit a noticeable difference with my short-haired dog not shivering during winter months while wearing two separate coats. So I backed down on making fun of dog coats. My two larger, furrier dogs in prior years never needed manmade coats.) But this sweater is turning into a Linus blanket situation. I tried putting on a "Christmas" dog coat that matched her red Xmas collar (I love festive dog collars!!!), but it was white and getting dirty too quickly. I took it off to handwash it and put the Bark Place pink sweater on my dog solely for one walk, and she's been running away ever since when I try to take it off at night. At one point, she slid under one of the bar stools in my dining room, around the corner, ran into my bedroom and into her crate, flopping down sideways. Even if you don't need anything else in Bark Place, take note of the dog clothes. A bunch of my relatives crochet and knit, so I already knew the dog sweater was solid quality but expected it to wear. It still looks brand new, and my dog is glued to it. When I take it off to bathe her or what I *think* is comfier to sleep at night, she growls and leaps for it. I think a pink sweater and a red bow collar clash, but she couldn't care less about me being the fashion police. I'm tickled by how much she likes THIS particular sweater but has never ever been this into any other dog clothes gift (that I usually return) in four straight years. Don't sleep on the dog sweaters, I guess, unless you're my own dog who will turn over sideways so she CAN sleep in hers.

I honestly can not say enough good things about Melissa and her team. Not only are they kind and…read morewonderful people, Melissa is a saint when it comes to caring after your beloved furry guys and gals. I've been following her from store front to store front and I'm glad to see she's finally got a place of her own to call home. If i'm to ever take my two corgis to get groomed, i drive past all the chains and thirty minutes out to make an appointment with The Laundrymutt. Once Melissa and her team are done with my little monsters, they are softer than I've ever felt them before, and whatever shampoos and such they use, smells of utter heaven. I've found myself sticking my face into Kit and Cleo's fur and just breathing them for a few minutes... kinda like when you would smell those dry erase board markers for days on end as a little kid... you know... right? Again, I can not say enough good things about the place. And if you really wanna get your money's worth, make an appointment and then take your dogs out to the dog park for an hour or two before, let them run around, roll in the mud, poop, dead animals, whatever have it. Just enjoy the fresh air and out doors and tire out your pups. When they're all muddy and stinky, take them to The Laundrymutt and wipe your hands clean. A couple of hours later, you'll get back a squeaky clean dog. And, the most important part of doing all that, your dog actually had a less anxious time of being away from you and being at the groomer because it tired it self out, and was able to have a more relaxed time. A tired pup is a happy and care free pup. They've won me over, and the quality of service is unmatched. Think about it in a human example, do you think you'll get a better hair cut in a chain barber shop or salon, or do you think you'll get a better style and hair do at a stand alone salon? Super cuts versus [insert foreign sounding word or name] Salon.

I've had such a mixed bag experience here over the last 4 years. I've had 2 dogs and with my…read morecurrent dog, I've sometimes been super happy with the cut, price, and my dog comes out happy. Other times, I feel like the price is double for no legitimate reason (she does not mat much, and if so, it's on her belly which is always shaved anyway), and my dog comes out with battle wounds. I understand groomers are different, but to not have a consistent experience at a business specializing in grooming is stressful for both me and my dog. To be charged nearly $200 for a 21 lb dog who comes out harmed is not ok. I don't feel confident to trust the experience that would also make my dog anxious about going to the groomers
