This is the second time I bought a turtle light that did not work . They Refused to exchange a working light. I did not even ask for a refund . I had to go twice to pet smart and get a working light for my turtle since PET SUPPLY PLUS could not provide a working light . Please ask for your receipt as they don't give them out . Not sure how long this pet supply plus will be open . They could not exchange a working light for my turtle . $13 dollars . Wow!! I love this store. Family owned, everyone is so friendly & helpful. They even offer to bring heavy purchases right to my car! Everyday prices are very good-(most better than grocery stores). Sign up on their website to receive special discount offers and earn points towards money off. Great selection of food, treats, toys etc and they do grooming as well. All of coupons on line have an expiration date of over one year ago so when I went to the store on Dempster in Niles Illinois the manager made me feel like I was trying to cheat him. I called corporate to tell them and the lady I spoke to said she knows about the coupons and they have been trying to fix this. OVER ONE YEAR AGO??? I love this store. Today the main purpose of our visit was grooming (which we do about once a month) Laya took care of Miley Cyrus and Alfie today. They had baths, mani pedis (complete with polish), deep conditioning, and had their teeth brushed. I'm so thankful that she is here! They feel and smell so clean! This review is for grooming only. Groomer did not know what they were doing. Told me that because of my dog's age if anything happened to her they would not be responsible. I've never heard this before I've used them several times. My dog did not smell clean when I picked her up. Nails were not cut down nor were they filed. Groomer said she couldn't cut any further down and she couldn't file them for whatever reason. PetSmart may be more expensive but they are professional and do a great job. read more

This pet supply store is a find. It is in a strip mall in Evanston, not far from the High School. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable and their prices reasonable. I found the store well stocked and it was easy to navigate and find the items and brands I was looking for. I will never not ever understand why so many popular retail chains sell shelves full of pet supplies but no dog toothpaste. I'd given up on getting it in stores altogether and only bought pet toothpaste online in bulk. I happened to be trying to find a specific item at Dollar Tree, and I was about to give up before I decided to stop in one more location in Evanston. I park my car, look across the lot and there's a pet store. I was so happy to see it that I could've driven my car right up to the register. I donate clothes to Goodwill there a bunch of times, and somehow, I have completely ignored this pet store (for years?). I get inside, and it's so pretty and well-lit. People greet you when you walk in the door. All the pet supplies are well-organized and there are bargain deals. I strolled to the back, and saw one dog patiently getting his/her nails clipped and another one having a peaceful bath. Bingo! Next time I don't feel like doing it myself, my dog will definitely come here. I found the treats and toys I wanted and can never find anywhere but online, but I had a tough time finding that toothpaste ... again. I went up and down the aisles repeatedly for about 5 minutes. Then a lady walked by me and asked "Are you finding everything OK?" My response, "No!" She laughed. It turns out the dog toothpaste is in the cat aisle that I never went down (for obvious reasons). The cashiers are both super nice. One is clearly more tech-savvy than the other though. I had quite a time trying to spell out my info to get the Rewards card. There was some confusion about whether I needed to fill in the Rewards Card later or if I could sign up right there. I started to just get out of line altogether and do it on my phone, but the same lady who saved me with the toothpaste was back in to confirm I could sign up right there with the other cashier. Then the registers were on the fritz, and my debit card wouldn't work three times. I kept being told to push in the chip three times, then wait for it to reject it so I could slide. So the visit wasn't completely perfect, but I'll take a few tech problems and an incorrect sign as long as I can get the pleasant customer service and what looks like a fun time for pet grooming in the process. When a person come in doesn't mean the worker cuz I he couldn't been a manager leave the cart in the middle of the aisle with a disabled person has to walk around it. Disable or not do not leave the cart . Then don't follow my black butt to the front to make sure I got the four cans of cat food and a container of turtle food . The groomer, Laya, was awesome with my dog, and my dog looked and smelled great when I picked her up. Laya also had great communication and texted me an update about the best time to pick up. Really appreciate her communication and quick reply when I needed a little more time. Due to health issues I can't lift super heavy things right now; without prompting or hesitation, the manager offered to carry out my 50 lb bag of dog food, which I really appreciated. Easy breezy order curb side pickup. Browse isles from your couch, place items in online cart, pay and submit order. My order was ready within 1 hour and I got a call from the store that my order was ready with additional information to call when I arrive and store hours. When you are in front, you call, pop your trunk and they bring it out. So easy and the prices are right too! My dog is sad though she is used to going to the store with me and sniffing the isles for the frenemy cats! If only we could get the same experience online! On every visit, there have been plenty of employees to help me find what I've needed and advise me on the best products for my dog (thanks, Bryce). We tried out the self wash yesterday and were doubly impressed. They have a punchcard for 5 washes for $25.00 - fantastic deal! There are three tubs, including two large and one medium and have everything you need to bathe your dog (waterproof apron for me, 3 kinds of shampoo, secure tie to keep your pooch in place, long spray hose with adjustable water temperature, blow dryer, and fresh towels). I came in with a filthy dog and walked out with a happy clean one, sporting a new cool collar. I came for the first time ever to self bathe my 98lb German Shepard.... It was a mistake. I called ahead of time and was told it was a first come first serve and I mentioned I have a large dog. The guy who answered the phone was very polite and friendly. I waited a good 20 minutes or so and then it was our turn. Bathing was fine, area was good. Dryer was horrible. The kind groomer in the station over was able to borrow us her heavy duty dryer. It worked wonders. Where it went bad was that it's shedding season and my dogs hair was flying. I didn't my best to clean it up. Halfway thru drying 2 gentleman appeared with their dogs.. waited like 5 minutes. One went to complain. While the one who went complain walked away, one bath freed up. An older tough guy came over to advise me of the time limit, I apologized and said I did not know. He very rudely told me to read the sign that was right there. I was doing my best to wrap it up quickly and apologized. I don't Appreciate being admonished/told sternly that I am taking too long and should've read the sign. Kindness goes a long way. Perhaps charge more for larger dogs that will take longer to dry... or put a size or breed limit. Drying out a German Shepard or any large hairy dog is just as important as drying a short haired dog. I will not return to place where I did not feel welcomed. I apologized for the hair and the time and paid the dudes wash. People should just learn to have patience and be kind. Very convenient pet wash: $10 for a single or $25 for a 5 wash discount card. Lots of food for dogs, cats and birds on hand including some special brands you don't find at the bigger pet stores. Very friendly staff: The 2 owners (a husband and wife) were each working one of the cash registers and were very friendly to all of the customers including me. By the time I left the store I ended up meeting the entire staff who all took time to pet my dog and ask about him. They have a groomer on hand if you want to book an appointment. I didn't use that service but she seemed super nice. But really, the dog wash has everything you need: 3 different shampoos, temp controlled water sprayer and a very powerful air dryer. You place your dog on a platform so you don't have to hurt your back. There is a lasso you can tie your dog to to keep it safe and from falling off. They even have towels and smocks so you (and your pet) can stay dry! A small town shop feel in a big suburb like Evanston is definitely rare and something to be appreciated. Great addition to the hood! Beautiful store, wonderful self-wash! The staff is all very friendly and remembers our dogs every time we go. My only suggestion is to add brushes to the self wash!
