Over a year later, I happened to notice that monthly membership charges had mysteriously resumed on April 1, 2025, despite my account having been canceled. Had I not caught it myself, I have no idea how long these unauthorized charges would have continued. When I called to find out what happened, I was told that the charges restarting were the result of an "error." While mistakes can happen, it's difficult to understand how a canceled account can suddenly become active again and begin billing without any authorization. What was even more frustrating was being told that, despite being charged for many months, the gym would only refund three months of payments. I paid for far more than three months due to an error that was entirely on their end, so that offer was unacceptable. Customers should not have to constantly monitor their bank statements to make sure a canceled membership stays canceled. If I hadn't noticed the charges myself, I would have continued paying for a service I wasn't even using. I do want to acknowledge Melanie, the current manager, who was consistently professional, courteous, and responsive throughout the process. She always returned my calls and communicated clearly, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, her professionalism does not change the fact that I was charged for months after canceling my membership and was not offered a full refund. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering joining this gym to keep detailed records of their cancellation and regularly monitor their statements afterward. I would not recommend doing business with a company that allows canceled accounts to be charged again and then refuses to fully correct the mistake.

On top of all that, they refused to let me into their gym because I was on a cheaper plan when I signed at another club in the past. Enforced me to up my monthly dues or go kick rocks. I ended up just cancelling my gym membership. I'm just trying to work out, I still pay my bi-weekly dues, but they made a huge fuss about it. Really unfortunate because I have type 2 diabetes and this gym is in walkable distance from my apartment. Do better JA! Oh, and there's a couple dudes that scream like crazy when they lift. Kinda annoying, but whatever.

First few times visiting were fine- facilities are a bit outdated, but staff friendly enough. 4th time or so, when I am one one one with my daughter trying to teach her how to swim, the lifeguard informs us that we need to put a lifejacket on her. I explained to him that we cannot because it will trigger a panic attack, he gets his supervisor and insists. We acquiesce trying to anvoid a scene (mind you I am a physician annd former lifeguard being told what to do with my special needs child by an 16 year old) and of course it causes a horrible panic attack, complete with screaming and intense tears etc. Quite a painful scene for us. Supervisor arrives and asks us to leave if we don't immediately put on the life jacket on her (horribly embarrassing for myself, my daughter, and our family). Informs us that if we enroll her in a private class that she would be allowed to swim with me without a lifejacket ($$$). When we explain her special needs, She tells us that they understands special needs inner concerns are unwarranted because they are special needs themselves. After this episode, I contacted the leadership who put me in touch with the director who straight up denied this offer was made (clearly was not there), would not apologize, and was unwilling to meet us halfway to any degree for our family's needs. Thankfully, they refunded our membership cost for the year, and I will never ever go back. I am giving two stars instead of one tub reflect a few friendly staff members who tried to make this right before I got to the director who more or less told us to piss off with our special needs family. Is this place family friendly? Not particularly. Is this place special needs friendly? Not at all. Their inflexibility was stunningly hurtful and inappropriate I hope they see this review and know exactly who we are and can reflect on this interaction with a new member family.

Family fun and worry/sunburnt-free!…read more These days I'm all about finding that perfect balance between work, spending time with loved ones, while enjoying activities. That's why I'm obsessed with this new find in the Southwest community! This neighborhood community center has cool activities like two indoor pools. One is designated for laps- 9 feet deep and the other includes a wading pool with slide, up to 4 ft and 6 inches at the deepest. I also love that there is a shower and lockers open for use so you can clean up before heading to the pool. The kids seem to absolutely love it - there are tons of other families with little ones. Open pool time is ~ 2-4pm, go early so you can get in. There's a capacity limit, our visit happened to be 75. If want to make it, BE THERE EARLY. Can not stress this enough. It is not the staff's fault if you can not get in. There are standards for a reason. You do not want to be cooped up in a space where it can not accommodate for more than what's expected. You also want to keep in mind that there are lifeguards to look out for everyone's safety and well being, so please be mindful of that as well! There are also other parts of the center to enjoy, such as an indoor basketball gym, rollerskating sessions, aqua aerobics, gym, and even dancing. It's the perfect blend of family-friendly fun and adult-approved relaxation. If you're looking for a place with a strong sense of community, stunning scenery, and a pool that's basically its own mini-vacation destination, then this is your spot! Totally recommend it! P.S. If you ever see me poolside with a noodle in hand, say hi! I'm learning how to swim - and it's fun to make some friends while we're at it!

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to a world where sweat glistens a bit more elegantly. The MAC isn't just a gym it's a sanctuary of stature. You don't simply walk in... oh no, you belong here. Membership isn't a convenience, it's a declaration. Behind those doors lies a realm of polished marble, hushed conversations, and the faint, dignified clink of perfectly chilled water glasses. Inside, it's sleek immaculately so. Machines aligned like soldiers of fortune, locker rooms that whisper spa-day indulgence, and a calm that feels imported from somewhere far more exclusive than downtown Portland. This is where ambition meets tranquility... where CEOs, legacy names, and those in-the-know escape the city's chaos without ever leaving it. And the vibe? Think Nob Hill with a gym membership and a trust fund. There's no chaos, no clanging weights echoing into oblivion just refined motion, deliberate pace, and an understanding that wellness, like wealth, should be curated. So if you find yourself wandering downtown, peering in like Gatsby outside the green light, just know: this isn't merely a place to work out. It's a lifestyle one you don't stumble into... you ascend into. Lifestyles of the fit and the fabulous, darling.

The a la Grivois cocktail started the experience on a high note: amaro and vermouth together make for a velvety sweetness. The house green soup was a winner, I'm sure the French Onion would be also. We were there for prime rib night and their version rivals that at Clyde's: a hearty cut and full of flavor. At first glance, I was disappointment to see scalloped-type potatoes, but these were the best I've had. The warm bread and salad were above par. Great service by one of the long time waiters.

After touring the gyms I came away with the impression that Stafford was by far the best gym in the area. The staff is superb and the gym and equipment are clean. None of that terrible "gym" smell that you often get at the gyms as they age. They also do an excellent job at making sure there aren't so many members in the gym that there are long wait times to use the equipment.

"A place where everybody knows your name... and you're always glad you came." [1]…read more My review is based on my membership of one year where I've consistently visited 4x/week. Beginning during the end stages of COVID restrictions, it was so nice to experience outdoor swimming, the hot tub, and social time with other members. Swimming is my main experience at the club so here is what you should know: * Six lane outdoor salt water pool that is open year round (I've done laps in the snow, sleet, and hail). * You can reserve four of the six lanes and it is very competitive to get times, especially during the warm weather months when you are competing for space with the swim team, swim lessons, and aqua aerobics classes. * The other two lanes are left open for first come first serve usage and swimmers are encouraged to share. * The outdoor hot tub is for 14+ over. I have only taken one yoga class at the club and all classes have you reserve your spot. If you cancel less than 12 hours in advance or are a no show, you are charged a $10 fee. Personally, I don't mind since the reservation system makes me accountable and if I don't have a reservation, I'm less likely to go workout. The club is a nice mix of serious athletes (I'm surrounded by masters swimmers and triathletes), retirees, and families. Prior to my membership, my teenage son was a member for two years and loved the weight room, sauna, and steam room. The club as been open for awhile and is definitely showing its age and is need of some maintenance upgrades in the pool area. That being said, I have been very happy with my membership here and the personal feel, literally being greet by name when entering and exiting, and the wonderful customer service. This club is very different from the large national chains, so to each their own. Definitely recommend a trial membership at this club as well as others in the area to see which is the best fit for you. [1] I am currently re-watching this classic sitcom and while not aging well in the post Me Too era, still good for a lot of laughs.
