What I wanted to point out is the extreme pricing of the appointment. Be aware before you take any type of equipment from them or at least ask about cost of service/item. They charged $155 for a very janky night splint, where you can get one of much higher quality on Amazon or other sellers for a mere $25. The @15 minute "low-complexity" appointment was $250. The only thing not ridiculously priced was the radiographs, but these were still over $100. If you have foot problems, and are unsure if your insurance will cover all costs, you may want to shop around before you choose this location.

I'd been putting off seeing a podiatrist for a while, but increasing pain in my left toe joint led me to Valley Medical Center Podiatry. Greeted by an individual standing (in the cold) outside the main entrance who took our temperatures and asked the required questions. Got in to see Dr. Padhma in no time and she quickly and professionally went about her examination. Results: Osteoarthritis, not gout. She stated that if I did have gout, she wouldn't have been able to examine me without a great deal of pain. She prescribed orthotics and arranged for me to visit Priority Footwear for a fitting for inserts and shoes. Upon being led into the exam room we were guided by Reggie. As it turns out he's from Hawaii just as we are. Conversation quickly turned to food. We told him we lived in Federal Way, Korean restaurant heaven, and he suggested several places, many to which we'd already been to. Next visit we'll have to remember to bring a loaf of Hawaiian Sweetbread, Reggie's favorite.

Nurse is super friendly. You do have to call through Valley Medical to get an appointment which can be a hassle, but you aren't waiting weeks to get an appointment either which is nice. Check in is downstairs in the primary care office and then you go upstairs for the podiatry office. Parking is usually okay here but it can fill up. We like Dr Deng and his services have been excellent.

I had some pain in my heel lasting for a couple weeks and thought "let's get it checked out". Saw Dr Tim Young for a 15 minute, middle of the road appointment - he recommended stretching more (yes, stretching!) and to wear a foot brace at night. Ok, fine suggestions although pretty basic and to be expected. A few weeks later my bill came and I kid you not this is what was billed by this company: New patient appt: $330 Time for the visit: $180 Ankle brace: $480! Random charge I can't yet determine: $180 If you're counting, that is $1170 for a honest to god 15 min appt, where again the main recommendation was to stretch my calf more. Shameful and appalling. I asked for help but they just blew me off saying once the transaction goes through, nobody can change it and im stuck with that bill. According to the front desk i was supposed to have known or asked my insurance, it's not their responsibility to tell me. A little heads up wouldn't have hurt but then again they wouldn't have gotten more money out of me. Yes, Dr. Wendel has a bunch of letters behind his name along with many recognitions, memberships and board certifications, but a lot of people make judgment calls based on intangibles. I've never heard of or seen Dr. Wendel until the moment we met. Instantly, he felt like a good person, someone who's down to earth and also professional. His staff is also very nice and accommodating. Although there were no appointment times, Dr Wendel's assistants said I can be a walk-in and that they will be able to fit me in, which they did. They also respond quickly to e-mails or messages. There offices are open Mon-Fri from 8am-5pm, however Dr. Wendel is only in Mon-Thurs.
