What kind of surgeon totally misses a 90% subscapularis tear while they are repairing another tendon in your shoulder? My new surgeon said it is standard practice to inspect all the tendons, why didn't Arntz?Why can't proliance figure out what is wrong after 16 visits, while another practice takes two visits? I regret ever walking in the doors of proliance. So many better practices in the area. You people stole years of my life and my shoulder might never be the same. read more

I have had TWO referrals at Renton office near VMC with different providers at the end of December 2025. Only one person has called me back, however, she didn't actually make the appointment. She was supposed to call me back, I believe she was looking for a sooner one. (I actually had that appointment penciled in!) Not a word. I agree, I should follow up as well, but I have had a devastating month and have failed to "follow up" on a few things. If someone is going to be making suggestions as to best treat my spine, I want to get not only 2, but 3 opinions! The other is lined up just fine, completely different facility. They called me right away. Now it will be months before I can get into Proliance. It was actually down the same week, two days before the one at the other place. My phone updated and I lost many notifications and appointments, but it was definitely down! Now they have no record of it. Just great. read more

I've been to Proliance many times over the years, both as a patient and as a caretaker. I primarily visit the Renton location, but I've also been to the Tukwila urgent care. The biggest plus, honestly, is convenience -- it's very close to my house. Beyond location, the experience really depends on which provider you see. Some have been genuinely impressive, while others appear not to be keeping up with modern techniques. Recently, I had a consultation for shoulder surgery, and the procedure recommended by a Proliance surgeon was later described as "antiquated" by two other surgeons. Even my physical therapist pulled up NIH recommendations to show me how starkly different (and outdated) the proposed approach was. I understand that professionals can have differing opinions, but this was shocking and significantly undermined my confidence in their surgeons as a whole. Additionally, their lack of a modern patient portal is frustrating and, frankly, unacceptable in 2026. They do not use widely adopted systems like MyChart and do not participate in Share Everywhere, which makes it unnecessarily difficult to share medical records with other providers, such as a PCP or specialists for second opinions. It also makes it difficult to ask follow up questions or communicate with your provider. Convenient location aside, the variability in care quality and outdated systems make it hard to recommend Proliance. read more

FIRST Medical care is TOP NOTCH! Surgeons and staff are amazing. This complaint is with the billing department. I fell behind ( I had a major procedure, unable to work, no income and spoke to financial office and I was instructed to fill out paperwork to qualify for assistance. Instead I was put into collections when I had difficulty navigating a confusing process. I promptly called, was told to continue working on my paperwork which I did and then they continued collections anyway and sent a rude letter from billing accusing me of lying about filling out paperwork, and no help only more grief from the financial staff when I called and literally begged for a break. read more

This office fails to schedule appointments properly. It really nice when you schedule an appointment, and then rescheduled at the last minute, and communication is poor. It's frustrating and unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend this clinic if you need reliable care. read more

I called Proliance Orthopedics today. A woman by the name of Marty answered. What a rude and uncaring individual. She did not even bother to ask me my full information to get my question answered. I eventually had to end the call and drive directly to the Proliance Orthopedics clinic located in Lakeland Hills to the get the information I needed within about 1 minute. This Marty woman needs to stay home if she can't even answer basic questions. read more

I saw June, PA. No exam. Didn't answer when I asked if she looked at my x-rays. When I stated I didn't want surgery, she offered injections and I said I haven't had a MRI yet, let's hold off on those. She offered hard pain meds which I said I couldn't take since I had to drive 3 hours there and needed to be alert. She said to just see the primary doctor for he MRI results then, since he ordered it not her. I asked if I could get PT at least, and she had her assistant give me a script to take to any PT. I waited till I got the MRI and thank goodness I did due to the serious issues it uncovered. Called the office to explain what happened. Talked to two women who answered the phones, no response to my concerns. read more

Five stars for Dr. Barrett, he is absolutely the best joint replacement surgeon in the area. I had a total knee replacement done 10 years ago by another doctor at Swedish hospital and it was nothing but problematic. After 9 years, my knee was still swollen and could barely bend 90 degrees. Dr. Barrett did another total replacement on the same knee and within a couple of weeks, I was walking without assistance and could bend my knee 120 degrees. It has now been a year since my surgery and my surgically repaired knee bends over 140 degrees and feels better than my other knee. I can squat for the first time in about 10 years! Thank you Dr. Barrett and your staff for significantly improving my quality of life . read more

Total knee replacement. My surgery and recovery period was honestly great! I was up and walking with the obvious limp day of surgery and afterward. No walker or cane needed day 3. Driving week 2. Dr Huang was amazing throughout the initial diagnosis to the post-op appointment. Everything I was told to expect was spot on right. The best thing for my recovery was continuing with P.T. at home on my own, which is highly recommended. So glad I decided to get a new knee! read more

My PA, Kacey is GREAT! My office experience has not been great. I waited over an hour before I was seen. After waiting for 40 minutes, I approached the person sitting at the desk outside the room I was in. I told her how long I'd been waiting and asked when I would be seen. Her response was " you're not her only patient." She also said I could "go home and reschedule. When I finally saw Kacey, she apologized and said that there was an emergency surgery that she needed to prep a patient for. The 3 stars is for Kacey and the other PA's and MD's at Proliance. read more

I was referred to VMC Special Procedures by Dr Oh and when I arrived at the Renton location the staff was rude and unhelpful. I was unaware that the recommended procedure was not done in the office and the receptionist would not assist me in finding the location where it would be performed. She repeatedly said that Dr Oh was not in the office, which I knew. All I wanted was the location of the appointment that Dr Oh referred me to. I am positive that this information is in my chart but she refused to do the work. I ended up being late but thankfully the staff at the special procedure unit were accommodating. read more

I am seeing two orthopedic doctors at this location, one specialist for my shoulder, the other specialist for my lower back/spine. Dr. Arntz was my surgeon for my total shoulder replacement and was very concerned about my new kitten's scratches near the incision site (possible infection source) and delayed my surgery until they were healed. Although it was hard to keep waiting, I appreciate his conservative take on the matter. Infection is the number one post-surgical complication. I am 8 weeks in recovery this Thursday and am scheduling virtual PT. I have recovered my ROM in front and about 80% to the side. I got off opioids in week 6. At my post surgery appointment with him at 6 weeks, they took xrays and I was able to view the implant. Dr. Arntz was very pleased with my progress and commented that the surgery and implant location was "text book"! I am seeing Dr. Howe for my low back issues. I injured my back in January and have had to file FMLA for 6 weeks and am now pursuing a disability claim. I have see other back doctors and they always say it's sciatica but I have no pain in my leg. He dismissed this right away and properly diagnosed Lumbar Spondylosis. He prescribed a cortisone injection at L4-L5, but I did not find relief. He's scheduled a bit far out, but I'm happy I finally found a doctor who isn't jumping to sciatica right away and knows other causes of low back pain. There is plenty of parking and the supporting staff is very friendly, competent and helpful. read more

Dr William Barrett is the best!!! He has so much experience and knowledge. I had surgery and didn't even need PT post op. The staff and his PA and NP are great as well. If you need a hip/knee replacement see Dr Barrett. Valley medical has a floor for ortho patients so the nurses are experienced. Excellent care at Valley as well read more

I searched for this place out of somewhat desperation and a quest for new answers for my back pain. I've been to every type of specialist that one can go to when experiencing back pain. Everyone reduces my back pain to simple back muscle spasms. I feel that there is more to the story to address, so I decided to consult an orthopedic professional. The website advertises a comprehensive evaluation and thoughtful solutions. My visit did not include these components. Dr Thompson only assessed my fitness for surgery with a couple questions. I got the feeling it wouldn't be a good visit once I reached the front desk and saw that the receptionists seemed to have paperwork to do that interfered with checking patients in. Ugh. This may be a fine place if you know for sure that surgery is the best outcome for you. Maybe. If you want out of the box solutions and friendly and prompt customer service, I'd look elsewhere. read more

I went there with my mom,she is visiting from south America, she arrives 2 weeks ago and will stsy here for 2 months. She fell 2 days ago and broke her wrist. expenses that we do not plan. We went today to proliance in renton , she does not speak English and i translate for her today. Dr. Zach Bowman was really nice an d professional. He really care about my mom. I fell down the stairs on March 2, and I decided to get it x-rayed at Proliance to get it checked. I found out I actually did fracture it. And at the same time I had a family emergency, and I found out if I didn't pay my Medicare Premium of 1000.00 they would cancel my Medicare. I had no choice, this set me back hugely. Today I checked in for my appointment tomorrow, I had to promise I would have to pay 288.00. I called the office and explained my situation. The front office person made a medical decision for me by canceling my appointment because I couldn't pay up front. This just feels so wrong, are we dollar signs? I am reporting this to Medicare. Its not like I dont't have insurance. I am so upset that I still have to walk around on a fractued ankle and not know if it's better over 288.00. read more

The administration is amazingly useless. I had my surgery scheduled and had asked 3 different times for an answer on recovery time. My job wanted to know for time off of work. I received no calls about that, but I did receive two calls about getting pre-payment. Their priorities lie with profit and not with patient outcomes. I had complicating circumstances that he actively helped me solve to improve my quality of life. The staff in the office was first rate. We've been here almost 10 times last year and I just don't understand why we are always waiting. If you can't see that many people in your schedule, then don't schedule it. Our time is valuable too. Choosing the best surgical team for a knee replacement is vital. I knew that Dr. Barrett had a very low infection rate as well a great outcomes. I was familiar with the operating team and the Joint Center at Valley Medical Center and would give each a 5 star rating. What I wasn't aware of was the lack of individual patient care and communication from the staff. This office does not opt to do My-chart so one must leave a voice message, which often is not returned or is returned by someone who is not trained to answer your questions. I had to resort to writing to Dr. Barrett directly to get my questions answered prior to surgery. I had told the PA that I couldn't take the usual pain medication and would need another option. When I got zero relief from this medication, I wasn't given any option that controlled the post operative pain. Recovering from a knee replacement with only Tylenol and turmeric for pain relief is not an option I would wish on anyone. At my followup appointment with Dr. Barrett he informed me that they had no other options for pain control. As a retired nurse with 50 years of experience I found this statement to not be true. I think that this office has a definite script that they feel all patients must fit into as there is a lack of meeting the individual patients needs. The two stars are for the great reception staff and the fact that the operative skill of Dr. Barrett was excellent. It takes a village to support any patient both before and after surgery. Unfortunately my experience with Proliance Orthopedic Associates was nothing short of horrible. Although all seemed to want to provide good care to my orthopedic injury pretty much everything they did got screwed up, delayed or failed to provide the care any of us deserve as patients. Delays and screw-ups by an array of Proliance caretakers and support staff throughout the organization added up to a horrendous experience for me. It just seemed like no one was on the same page when I was passed from this dept to that or to other Proliance support groups. Few seemed to listen to me as the patient experiencing the pain and discomfort associated with my injury? There were also a number of poor care decisions made that should not have happened. I have had 5 orthopedic operations over the years and am a Health Professional myself so I know what good care consists of! I would not suggest Proliance for these basic reasons. read more

The doctor I saw for a consultation was really wonderful, Dr. Alton. I was to be contacted by a scheduler for an appointment for a procedure as soon as possible. I was in quite a lot of pain. After a week of not hearing anything, I called the office. The scheduler had called me several days before to say that the doctor could not do the procedure, and I'd have to find someone else. I missed the call, and she never bothered to leave me that message nor to call back. Complete disregard for my pain. Needless to say, I have no confidence in Proliance Orthopedic Associates priorities. read more
