We had a visit here for my daughter's sever's. The appointment was fine. I already knew she had sever's, it was more just to see if we could get x-rays to determine that her growth plate activity was normal and there were no fractures and if there was anything he would recommend doing and not doing. He was able to determine there was nothing abnormal, but didn't really have too much else to say except she'll eventually grow out of it (which we knew) and can continue or not continue activity at her own judgement. What I wanted to point out is the extreme pricing of the appointment. Be aware before you take any type of equipment from them or at least ask about cost of service/item. They charged $155 for a very janky night splint, where you can get one of much higher quality on Amazon or other sellers for a mere $25. The @15 minute "low-complexity" appointment was $250. The only thing not ridiculously priced was the radiographs, but these were still over $100. If you have foot problems, and are unsure if your insurance will cover all costs, you may want to shop around before you choose this location. read more

This is about the care my 14 year old received. She had 2 very bad ingrown toenails that the doctor cut a lot off of. He sent us home with instructions for cleaning and OTC pain meds. When the numbing medication wore off she was in a tremendous amount of pain. Nothing we did would relieve it. I called the office and found they didn't have any way to reach their office nights and weekends...they did procedures and didn't even call to see how my daughter did after having a very painful procedure done. This office wanted to require me to put a credit card on file so they could charge it without billing me. When I told them my out of pocket has been met so there won't be any copays or deductible to meet, they told me they need it in case they bill for things they know my insurance didn't cover. When I told them no one informed me of this and I don't currently have a credit card they refused to see me. As someone who's done medical billing this is the best example of an office that bills incorrectly to get more money out of their patients. When I asked to speak to their billing manager she was extremely disrespectful and rude. Literally go anywhere else if you're in pain and need to be seen. read more

Everyone at Valley Food & Ankle is amazing! I started seeing Dr. Carlis last year for my plantar fasciitis and my feet are doing so much better. Our first appointment he checked my feet and showed me how to use KP to tape it right up. I also a toenail and had a blood blister on another from a hike before I went to see him. He helped take care of the blood blister and prescribed something to help my toes grow back. From there, he did an ultrasound to see how tight everything was and recommended me to a physical therapist. He also fitted me for custom insoles that I can wear with any shoe. I just went in for my annual follow-up today and ordered more insoles. His staff is also phenomenal! From the receptionist to his medical staff, everyone is so welcoming and lovely. I am a repeat patient. I completed all the paperwork early and showed up for my appointment. Only to be required to provide a credit card on file. I stated I have had previous issues with fraud and will not share my social security number or put a credit card on file. I stated I was more than happy to pay for the services up front or at the end of the appointment. That was followed with a statement that it was a requirement to have a credit card on file. Basically they want to ensure they can bill what and when they want. That is called unauthorized billing and in my opinion is very sketchy at best! I walked out after wasting tons of my time, no longer a patient and will now go out of my way to make sure that everyone in my sports field knows about this. In todays society there is zero reason for them to keep credit card numbers on file. No medial facility needs to have your social security number or a credit card on file. I was told I needed to pay $360 that day for a minor procedure because I "hadn't met my deductible yet." I told her that's not how health insurance works (have never had a clinic tell me how close I am to the deductible, also her information wasn't accurate). She comes back from speaking to the office manager and tells me that's just a deposit until insurance goes through (very different from what she originally said) and that I would get a refund once insurance goes through but that they'll waive this deposit. I asked why this deposit is even necessary. She said because some people don't pay and go to collections. To add to that, Dr. Robertson barely even looked at my toe before recommending a choice between 3 different options. Didn't even put on gloves to get a good look and didn't address my other concern. I have since been billed for this "diagnosis." Overall horrible experience. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

I had a foot trauma that left my big toe nail hanging on for dear life. I couldn't wear shoes or walk properly. I called the office, was able to be seen same day with an X-ray and avulsion. The lidocaine leading to the avulsion hurt more than the toe nail removal. But I'm glad I did it because I already feel better! PLUS AFTER THEY GAVE ME A GOODIE BAG! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM! read more

If I have problems again with my foot I will definitely call this place without hesitation. - making the appointment was soo easy I got in the following week - the facility is very nice, clean and very well maintained - the staff were so nice and friendly. They made me feel comfortable even when I had a cranky toddler with me. My reason for picking this office is due to the great reviews and Podiatrist bio . Excellent front desk staff, Claire who was prompt/followed up when I requested an appointment for new clients. Dr. Carlis is very nice and really listened to my concerns and gave a good action plan on how we're gonna get me back to better; as his nurse was kind/helpful and answered other questions I had. The Mgr of this place is completely rude, disrespectful and has no passion for this job...very fake, from the second time I called and I was baffled on how she handled it. I'm not pleased at all due to the manager of this company on how she talks/explains unclearly of what going on..I never in the field of an office clinic I worked could be that happy to cut someone off while their talking, or to be that happy/nasty to say we're canceling your appointment/that we can't help you without hearing what the customer has to say. 2 part review: a) Provider: The provider (Dr. Scott Carlis) was helpful, knowledgeable, listened to my questions and answered to my satisfaction. Ran ultrasound and what not and then explained me that its nothing to be worried about. Mentioned things that I should do and I shouldn't to help me keep going. So overall super satisfied from patient-doctor relationship. b) Billing: This was not transparent. I was handed over a splint and tapes. I was told tapes are free for the first round but they charged $52 which I wasn't I signed up for. Then, they offered me an ankle splint. I told them that I already have a splint and that I won't need it. To which I was told that it comes with my appointment and that my insurance covers for its cost. One week later I was slapped with a charge of $155 for the splint (whereas this exact splint retails on Amazon and Walmart for $25). When I asked them about it they told me that my insurance company chose to cover its cost against my deductible. That did not make sense. I wasn't convinced. So, I called them up and told them that I do not want the tape and splint. Its packed and unused. And they said, well, medical instruments once sold can't be taken back. And, so there I was left all by myself to pay $207 for something that I NEVER signed up for. Regardless, the whole experience left me with a bad aftertaste !! read more

I was terrified to go to the podiatrist for an ingrown nail following a bad pedicure. Especially since as a child I went to one that was awful. I was very hesitant but from the moment I walked in I was pleasantly surprised. It was very clean, organized and modern. The receptionist was super friendly. It took just a couple of minutes before I was called in. The medical assistant was also very friendly. Dr. Carlis took the time to examine me thoroughly and let me know what he recommends. I was super nervous during the in office procedure so his assistant chatted with me the whole time about her recent vacation. My follow up visit was just as smooth. I got a card in the mail from doctor thanking me for being a patient. Very nice touch. I just started going to this practice in January of this year because my previous podiatrist had moved. I've been seeing Dr. Robertson and have been super happy with his aggressive treatment of my planter fasciitis which is almost all gone! Many doctors take a wait-and-see attitude and he jumped right in with several different treatments to get me back working out, snowshoeing and riding my bike! So sorry to say I am not one of the patients who had luck at the office. I went to Dr. Mishallanie (who has since retired) for a neuroma in my foot. He said he was on of the few Drs who did a procedure called RFA. It was basically needles in the foot that were supposed to deaden the nerves. I had this procedure done 3 different times. Now two years later my foot is worse than when I first went to Valley Foot & Ankle. Plus I found out after two sessions of the RFA procedure that it wasn't even FDA approved. I am so disappointed and in a lot of pain. People are nice there, but nice doesn't help my foot feel better read more

Dr Carlis has been my foot dr for about a year. I've had some relief with my foot pain and will likely have surgery when I can afford the time off. However he has exhausted many other options that were less invasive to come to this conclusion. I saw Dr.Robertson for pain in the bottom of feet at heel and metatarsals. Dr. suggested its a metatarsal pain, suggested to use taping and supportive shoes. after multiple visits the diagnosis changed to plantar fasciitis and was suggested to go with pain killing injections, which I took, and also I was using custom insoles. after injections the pain got more worst and shoots back suddenly. when I went for followup I was also given a night split, for which I was not informed of any cost related to it. Now I am being forced to pay for the night split. Overall I am satisfied that my pain is not aggravated, but I am also disappointed that it did not reduce after so many visits and treatment options. read more

I was seen here because my left foot kept going numb at times, but I'd shrug it off, but then I'd wake up and have to hubble to the bathroom in the mornings. Dr. Robertson saw me, and before I could even mention it, he asked if I ever had trouble walking in the mornings!! He gave me a boot to wear at night to stretch my foot, and to tape my foot during the day. They taped my foot for the day and I wore the boot through half the night, but took it off because I was hot. I woke up the next day, and I WAS CURED!! It's now been two years, pain free, worry free. So I SAW RESULTS OVER NIGHT!! amazing. I went for a follow-up only because I had to, not because I needed to, and it was a closed case. So lucky, thank you, thank you, thank you. I started experiencing a lot of pain after a hill workout training for an ultramarathon. My podiatrist diagnosed the pain as plantar fasciitis. After about a half dozen cortisone shots which relieved my pain temporarily, he suggested that I have surgery to cut 1/2 of the plantar fascia. The surgery could end any possibility of running in the future so I decided to do my own research to what was available to treat plantar fasciitis without surgery. After much research, I found a review in Runner's World about radio frequency ablation (RFA) at Valley Foot and Ankle in Renton, WA near Seattle. I only found a few doctors performing this procedure. I made an appointment with Dr. Robertson immediately. Luckily, I travel to Seattle for business often so living in Southern California was not prohibitive. Dr. Robertson and the staff at Valley Foot and Ankle are a godsend for all foot pain sufferers like me. I learned that aside from my plantar fasciitis in both feet, I also had pain from inflammation of the Baxter's nerve on both my heels and an inflammation of a nerve between my second and third toes on the right foot. Needless to say, I was desperate. Over the next 6 months, we initially tried the radio shockwave therapy (rswt) and amniotic injection for the plantar fasciitis which relieved some pain, but wasn't totally effective for me. We then went on to the ultrasound guided radio frequency ablation (rfa) for numbing the nerves that caused the heel and toe pains along with puncturing the facia to relieve the tightness of the plantar fascia. The procedure can be uncomfortable, but totally worth the discomfort to be able to function normally again. There was hardly any downtime. I felt I could get back to normal activities after a day. Dr. Robertson is a skilled professional and knows his craft. I AM ECSTATIC ABOUT MY RESULTS. After the procedure, Dr. Robertson created custom orthotics with the state of the art equipment and prescribed a natural pain cream for any pain that I might experience as I continued to heal. I am walking pain free today and starting to run again. Did I mention that I'm a 56 year young woman who has a lot more mileage left?! read more
