The staff were very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. There's also a cool climbing wall treadmill in the upstairs area that was a lot of fun. The bouldering area was also very well cushioned. I'm not the biggest fan of bouldering but I felt very safe bouldering here just because of how well maintained and cushioned the mats were. As a person visiting the area, I didn't have a regular climbing crew - I came solo and the autobelays were more than enough to satisfy my climbing need. The autobelays covered a solid range of levels and there were more than enough to cover my climbing needs. The other routes also looked interesting - and it's clear that the route setters have done a very good, thoughtful job in their setting. I'd highly recommend to anyone looking for a climb in the KC area!

I was able to sign the waiver online and watch a safety video before I arrived, which made the first timer process quick and smooth. Some gyms take a very long time going through paperwork and payment, but this one was effective, quick and smooth. When I arrived I met Graham, he and his wife are from California and own the gym. Graham was a super nice and informative. He explained how their circuits are, they have half sizes in shoes (bless), and there's a warm up gym in the back left. It's a large, clean space with various levels. The entire place is spotless. From gym to bouldering to restrooms, immaculate. They have a Kilter board for training specific power, which is also based on crowd source. I learned all about that through Graham because I've never been to a gym that has one. Love that. And of course they have a tension board. If I lived here I would have a membership for sure. As I was packing to leave I saw a group come in with laptops too, there's community desks and couch space. Great place to hang, literally and figuratively. $18 day pass and $4 for shoes is the average day pass for rock gyms but you get access to way more so that makes it a steal. You can tell a lot of thought and effort went in to make this spot what it is for the community. Truly a gem in the heart of Kansas City.

The floors were gross in the party room and I included a picture of one of the chairs. This was it at the start of our party. There weren't trash cans in the party room, which was frustrating. We spilled some water and when I used a paper towel to clean it up it was brown. The whole place needs a deep clean! Also, the party time is short. One hour is not enough time. If they need to clean the party rooms before the next party they should allow the kids to go back and play for another 30 min to make it a 2 hour party. This place has potential!

But the rest of it is pretty nice overall. The teacher seems great and has control of the group. The times I've watched my semi-trepidacious daughter here, I've noticed they move at a pace that doesn't allow for a lot of fear which is important. They sort of just get after it and settle in from there, always a good approach. I can't say we'll go here for a long time based on the distance, but we may because my daughter loves it and we're continuing with it despite the distance for us to travel each week.

Better Staff, that seem to keep the place clean, and care about keeping it a fun/safe environment. At the Lenexa location, there is plenty of seating where you can keep an eye on your kiddos while they play if you want. Or you can go back into a little nook, and read a book, use your laptop (They have guest wifi) or watch TV on one of the TVs in that area. Highly recommend Urban Air in general, and furthermore recommend the Lenexa location over the Overland Park one. Pro Tip, if you live in the area, and go at least once a month, its so much better to just buy a monthly pass. You get a better deal than if you purchase 1 single night ticket. With the level of season pass we have, it comes with a slice of pizza every night, and a bag of popcorn. It makes it so much easier for me to take my kiddo, she can grab some food to tide her over until we get home to eat dinner and its fairly inexpensive for what you get.

Only downside is an overly conservative dress code that is enforced occasionally and you have the exit the building when they transition from day to night hours and badge back in. It can take a while, so if you're coming at 6pm, I recommend showing up around 6:10pm to escape the line.
