Pros: Service guy was nice and unclogged the drain. Con: I spoke with the owner what needed to be done because I knew it was roots that was causing the problem. Told him I need a snake that can remove roots. He said it would be between $250-$300. They showed up around 9:00 am and had everything cleaned up and out of the house around 10:15 am. Technician tried to charge me $375 saying it was 2 hours of work, when I was told it would be $300.00 max and a lot of the time was wasted due to their equipment not working and the technician trying to fix the attachment at the end of the snake. Equipment was old and literally broke after one use. I paid with cash and asked for a receipt and the tech said they were going to send me an invoice in the mail, but I think he meant receipt. I called back to make sure it was a receipt and not an invoice that they were sending out because I had already paid for the service. Owner gets mad at me and starts yelling profanity over the phone dropping f bombs every other word, because I told him I did not want to pay the $375.00, when he quoted me over the phone $300.00 and a large portion of their time spent was trying to fix the snake that broke right away. There were other issues also but when the owner of the company goes off swearing every other word and will not even let you talk that is when there is no point in supporting them anymore.

I got quotes from a handful of different HVAC options and ultimately landed with Wilson HVAC for a competitive price for amount of work I needed done and professional-looking website. The guys who came out were great -- likable, knowledgeable and trustworthy. The work took a couple days longer than expected, but they did a fantastic job. My only complaint with Ken Wilson is his poor and unreliable communication. He's impossible to reach. Leading up to the project, during and after, I was (and still am) unable to reach him by phone; the number listed at his website is either disconnected or goes straight to voice message. Sometimes he would call me back, sometimes he wouldn't. Not once could I reach Ken by phone. All documented communication like quotes and bills were by email. The guys who did the work never communicated what time they'd be arriving each day or whether the work had been completed; we'd just wait to see if they showed up the next morning. It's been three months since all the work was completed, and I've still not received the rebates I was due for both gas and electricity, nor can I get ahold of Ken to confirm he submitted them. I still have a remaining balance to pay off; I can't reach him nor has he followed up requesting the final amount. Should I ever have an emergency or need follow-up work done, I'm not sure if or when I'll be able to reach Ken or anyone else with Wilson HVAC. Ken's obviously got great reviews from others, and I'd gladly give him a positive 5-star review on merit of the work done; but be wary trying to communicate with or reach him in a timely or professional manner.

Kyle called me after I left a service request yesterday came over diagnose the issue and coordinated to get a new burner valve and replaced the valve. Our furnace went out in late January, and it was a stressful situation trying to figure out how to…read moreget a new furnace as quickly as possible and still manage to afford it. We looked at every option in the St Cloud area, and it was not fun. Home Depot sent out some other company to give an estimate, and it was well over $10K. I looked into buying my own furnace from Lowe's, and hiring a handyman to hook it up, which would leave us with no warranty and probably a questionable product. Then I found Gilk in Richmond. I emailed them through their website, and received a reply the very next morning. They asked for pictures of my existing furnace, and then gave me a quote via email for both installing a furnace I purchase on my own, but also for installing a good Rheem furnace of theirs that would suit our needs perfectly. They were SO affordable, I was able to go with their Rheem furnace and have them install it, which included a lengthy warranty, too. This was such a huge relief, and they were out the very next morning and had the job all done by noon. They were great to work with, very professional and accommodating. They saved us. From now on, I will tell anyone I know that needs any HVAC work done to at least check with Gilk. I don't think I've ever written a review before, but I had to because this place was so great to us.

It was not a fault in their workmanship, but rather moisture that got into the electrical and caused some problems. We also had a chance to chat about my earlier concerns. It turns out they had a summer of emergency work out in agricultural fields that kept them going at a fever pitch, with no time to communicate this to other customers like myself. While I would have appreciated better communication, I certainly understand the need to prioritize in times of high pressure like they were under. I'm amending my earlier review to 5-stars, as they did good work both times they were out. If I could delete or modify my earlier review I would, but it seems that this is not possible with the Yelp system.
