Yes we saw that parties of 8 or more the gratuity would be added, but when we went to pay our separate checks the waitress Teri R. did not say she had already added the tip, hence we all (4-separate checks) tipped her. Great fishing, great guide, a great marina, great food, and great drinks... My wife and I arrived the night before our fishing adventure on Lake O. We had burgers and tacos at the tiki bar and, of course, margaritas and beers. It was all delicious, as was the service. Kelly and the ladies at the marina ensured that everything was in order before our trip, preventing any unexpected delays in hitting the water the next day. We fished with Captain Bo, our second time out with him. We did the half day and caught a bunch of fish... 10 or so each, big bass and a few cat fish. We spent a few days at the resort and hired a wonderful guide that helped us with the lake and finding the fish. It was wonderful. Gary Sapp with GS Guide Service was wonderful. He shared a lot of really helpful tips and put us some fantastic spots to catch fish. I would highly recommend him if you want to experience the possibility of catching a biggin. The marina staff was so helpful and friendly. Kelly was amazing as were all the girls. We ate and drank at the Tiki Bar, the service was wonderful and the food was great. Not sure why some folks did not have the same experience. Ours was GREAT! We will be back! read more

Noticing that the good reviews are dated years ago. I am sure it was a place to be then, but no longer. While the food was good, the Tiki Bar itself was not clean, staff openly drinking on the job and good service was left to visible regulars vs visitors The "cabins" are simple small mobile homes, while they have new/cleaner ones which sat open the length of my stay, yet they put me on one of the oldest. Area is not well lit thus on the last night of my stay my Jeep was broken into, side window slashed and stereo amp stolen. Thank goodness I keep nothing of value in my cars. But showed how little who ever it was knew...man just unzip the window, no need to pull out a large knife to slash it. Thank goodness knife was not used on another person, that I know of. City of Clewiston itself is also not a place to be. Very little around and visibly not safe. It amazes me why they still host fishing tournaments there, no way the anglers stay there, they must stay elsewhere and trailer in for the day. Also the location on the lake is the southern tip...anglers who set in there must motor to the north and west banks to fish. Seems like such a waste of fuel and time in the tournament. Ya think these would be hosted closer to the fishing areas. And safer areas for anglers. Anglers and advertisers are committed to traditions, but painfully obvious that Roland and Clewiston are not. What a shame. This angler will continue to fish Lake O, just not via Clewiston. read more

Best place for Bass fishing! However, at my stay the weather did not cooperate and my son and I couldn't catch a thing! We stayed in the Roland Martin motel which was very pleasant and clean. We were able to take advantage of their pool on the first day - however the weather changed on us by the next day to fish. We had a great Thursday Night Steak and Karaoke Special Dinner at The Scotty's Tiki Bar in the Roland Martin's Marina Compund ~ (in the Tiki) I don't understand why they allow smoking where there is food but besides for many people hanging in the inside of the Tiki - my son and I had to dine outside~ away from the smoke and with the wind and cold on our backs. Although the entertainment (karaoke) was cool. If there is an Adult American Idol I would suggest to visit this place to find the next American Idol.... I got to admit many adults here sound pretty good! I heard excellent Reba McEntire songs song by two women - that confused me of Reba not being there! - Just saying! read more

I would not recommend this place to anyone. The assistant manager was just rude, for no reason. I specifically chose this place because they had a courtesy car for boaters. It worked the first day I was there but it wouldn't start on the second day and they still hadn't gotten it fixed by the third day. So my whole reason for stopping there wes shot right in the foot. I had to pay people around there to give me a ride. Aside from the assistant manager everyone was really nice. Although I caught them double dipping on the taxes for the fuel. What that means is the taxes are included at the price on the pump and then they charge you for taxes again when you ring out. In most states if you collect more tax then you owe you keep the extra tax that's why they do that. If the fuel pumps are inspected to include the tax then that includes the tax. If they try to charge you again they're stealing from you and that's what they did. read more

I can see why boaters patronize this place, because the location is convenient and there is a restaurant with decent food and prices and a courtesy car. However as a transient boater, I have an expectation for a certain level of service. The marina office closes promptly at 5pm. If you show up at 5:05 there is no one to answer your radio or phone call. Knowing we would be late for our reservation, I called and was told that our transient package would be in a mailbox, which of course it wasn't. Additionally there were no directions on where to dock, so we found a place on the face dock and some other friendly boaters helped tie us off. From any location on the dock you will be subjected to loud music from the tiki bar until well after midnight. We were there on karaoke night which made it even more painful. There are no separate showers for boaters. You are showering in the tiki bar bathrooms with all of the drunks stumbling in from the bar, which were dated and dirty. The next morning at 7am I was greeted by the dock hand aka former drill Sargent, that interrogated me on when we arrived the night before and when we were going to pay, as if we were planning to sneak away first thing in the morning without paying. To top things off, another employee promptly told us that we had to move our boat so that they can fit some pontoon boats on the dock. When I told him we were leaving in less than an hour and nobody had given us guidance on where to dock he just shook his head, threatened that we had better put fenders out and that they might move our boat while we went to the grocery store and walked away. Meanwhile, most of the face dock had already been vacated and there was plenty of room elsewhere for the pontoon boats. Terrible customer service! read more

I Will try not to be cruel. But!!! The absolute worst docking area. Surrounded by rocks in a canal too narrow to turn around. The sarcastic dock master does not know how to tie a line or was too lazy. When we called to confirm reservation they were very confused. Told us they were full and dock master would call us. Yet 10 minutes before we arrived we heard an 80 footer ask dock master if they had room for them. No reservations for them. We had the opportunity to fish wild shiners with Bo White over the Thanksgiving holidays. My 13yo son and I caught great fish and learned a ton from a long time guide on the Big O! Just the most astonishingly bad service in every aspect! We were picking up our new catamaran on the West Coast and driving it through the Okeechobee waterway to the East Coast. Naturally planning ahead for this kind of endeavor is essential. We called this Marina and booked a slip and and the restaurant and were very specific on the type of boat we were bringing. When we arrived we found that all the slips on the riverside were taken and no one was there with any explanation as to where our reserved slip had gone! The river entrance to the marina is very narrow with no room to turn a large boat around with low power lines slung across the river. One side of the Marina was mysteriously empty, the reason to which became clear when we attempted to enter and found the depth less than 3 feet. This is not a good situation for a catamaran to be in! We could have got into serious trouble in this situation and Marinas should be more informative and professional with traveling boaters. Word spreads fast in the boating community! So we left, tied up and dingied in to their Tiki restaurant-with tired, hungry kids in the middle of nowhere this was our only option. This is a cheery tiki style restaurant is set up for vacationing fisherman and the local bass fishing industry. Because of this it was astonishing to Find the seafood was awful and the service dire. food arrived randomly with my daughters mystery mahi mahi sandwich "a la sawdust" arriving when everybody else had finished their food. The Mojito cocktails tasted like dirty dish water with lime juice. The deep fried gator should have stayed in the lake where it would have saved us all.... The final insult was that we were sat right next to a 6 foot speaker which belted out music so loud our plates and teeth rattled. If you are looking to take your expensive boat to a place it could easily get damaged and then be poorly served crappy overpriced food and drinks then my family highly recommends this place. read more

We met the sweetest, most AMAZING Bartender ever, Maggie. We were "three bar ladies", experiencing an emotional, but fabulous time. As soon as we saw Maggie, you could tell that she's there to make ya happy. Not only were her drinks the BEST EVER, her sweet hospitality was off the chain (ps; I'm from Ft Lauderdale). The Tiki Bar at Roland Martins Marina is a frequent stop for us while were out and about on the Motorcycles. If you are familiar with Alabama Jacks down in Key Largo, it's about the same environment. Outside seating only, under a huge tiki with a bar and live entertainment on the weekends. The food is good and plenty. The service is good but can be slow at times, but always an attentive staff. Very accommodating for large groups and split checks. You'll find a mix of locals, tourist, bikers and everything in between. read more

We rented a pontoon boat, got there about noon the people we checked In with were nice. They said half day rental, showed us the boat, have fun. We did. The boat was a little beat up - a loud metal clapping with each wave, trim wouldn't stay up, and the gas tank was leaking gas pretty bad on the deck then into the water. Then we got back where the kid behind the counter charged us for a full day saying "we don't do half days" and was not helpful at all. The opposite of our check in. We would have just done the next day at jolly roger if we were gonna have to pay a full day's rental for 3-1/2 hours. left feeling cheated and disrespected. Not going back. read more

Crossing the Okeechobee waterway, my husband and I stopped here for the night. despite having a tournament this weekend, they found a room for us and space for our boat. We went to the restaurant for dinner and I was in the mood for beef. I ordered the rib eye and my husband ordered the prime rib. We were pleasantly surprised! The rib eye was cooked perfectly and seasoned wonderfully. The baked potato was excellent as were the hot rolls. I would have liked to try a dessert but I was stuffed. My husband enjoyed his prime rib immensely. Too bad we're just passing through. The woman checking us in was also friendly and very competent. The room is very nice and clean. read more

This is my third time staying here and it's always a great decision. Motel rooms are great and the price is more than reasonable. The service and the food at the tiki bar are excellent. The decor and atmosphere are perfect and the staff is friendly and attentive. I have never had a better rib eye!! Fun, rustic bar at marina. This place has condos, etc for fishing folks-popular bass fishing lake. Specialty drinks are served in a souvenir coconut-can serve as a bank afterwards. The reason for two stars: two goof-ups on part of kitchen or waitress-sweet tea instead of regular iced tea and hamburger instead of cheeseburger. We stopped here overnight on our way down the Okeechobee Waterway. This place is definitely worth checking out. The amenities like shower and laundry are basic, but clean. The food is really good and the beer cold. There's live music on the deck. The staff is the real prize here. Cap'n Sam is cordial, knowledgeable and incredibly helpful.
