It was a great stop to stretch my legs and get some fresh air in between long drives. The park has walkways, picnic tables, gazebo and a playground. There are also some cute swings if you want to sit and watch the traffic that you're about to rejoin. The center of the park showcases a memorial honoring the WWII British Cadets. It does have parking spaces next to the park. It has a small walking trail all around great for exercise. The view is nice if you walk it. I think it will probably take 10 minutes to complete the entire walking trail. The parked is well maintained. It has beautiful flowers planted all around. It has big beautiful trees and a good variety of plans too. This is one pretty park. I saw a really cute gazebo too. This place is perfect for an afternoon. I saw tennis courts next to the park. I don't know if they are part of the park or they just happen to be next door.

Commons Park also have a beautiful New Years Eve and 4th of July celebration. There is a driving range for the golfers. Miles of jogging and walking trails. I've seen the fishermen pull some big bass out the lake there. There is an Amphitheater in which they sponsor free concerts and pavilions and banquet hall you can rent for special events.

I was so excited to take my 9 month old puppy here for the doggie water park. I did read the rules…read moreand its not strict like it claimed to be. Which was nice since she's not a water dog yet. I had to pick her up every time to even get her in the water. We had a great time and even though she didn't want to go in the water, she did run around with the other dogs. I do wish the pool time was a lot longer then 50 minutes. The larger dogs get two sessions and the smaller dogs only get one. I would go back considering.

This is a 1,094-acre protected natural area adjacent to the North County Airport but only a small…read moreportion is accessible. The two preserve areas that make up Sweetbay were created in 1993 from land set aside to offset the environmental impact of the creation of the North County Airport. In 2002 the land was named Sweetbay Natural Area. The ecoysytems of this natural area include mesic flatwoods, hydric flatwoods, wet prairie, baygall, mesic hammock, and dome swamp ecosystems. In the center of the wetlands is a tree island called a bay head that contains sweetbay, dahoon, coastalplain willow, and pond apple trees. The bay head provides a nesting habitat for wading birds such as the snowy egret, black-crowned night-heron, blue heron, and the wood stork which is endangered. Other animals that make their home in Sweetbay include pine warblers, eastern towhees, Bachman's Sparrows, swallowtail butterflies, red-shouldered hawks, bobcats, eastern lubber grasshoppers, and Florida box turtles. This area is also known for it's beautiful wildflowers. Winding through Sweetbay is the paved .35 mile Tarflower Trail which branches off. One path leads to an observation platform overlooking the wetlands and the other path loops around making for a very easy walk. This preserve is part of the Great Florida Bird and Wildlife Trail. There are no restrooms or water available here so plan accordingly.

Timers Power Park is a spacious 37 acre park located in Indiantown. Historically the Jupiter…read moreIndiantown Road which existed from the 1900's until the late 1950's ran through the park. The 16 mile Jupiter Indiantown Road connected the communities of Jupiter and Indiantown, giving residents access to resources. The road took two days to travel by oxcart. During that time brothers Joe and Dessie Bowers developed citrus groves and ran a trading post exchanging goods for hides with the Seminoles. Later the road was known as the Jupiter Grade Road, the Jupiter Okeechobee Road and the Central Dixie Highway. In 1936 it became State Road 29. By the late 1950's nearby paved highways replaced the historic dirt road. In 1993 the road was declared a Scenic By-Way by Martin and Palm Beach Counties. Later this park was named in honor of Eugene "Timer" Powers (1937-1992). Mr. Powers was a significant figure in Indiantown known for his roles in establishing the Indiantown Gas Company in 1960, serving on the board of the South Florida Water Management District, and acting as a Martin County commissioner for twelve years, where he also helped shape water and Everglades policies. He was only 55 when he passed away from cancer. Upon his passing he was eulogized by then Governor Lawton Chiles who said "I recall a Bible verse that tells us, 'Blessed are the peacemakers.' We will miss Timer as a person and as a peacemaker. He was one of the finest people you could know, and his belief that people can work together to solve problems will be sorely missed. The Florida Everglades, too, has lost a friend." What makes this park really unique is that it has a state-of-the-art, covered equestrian arena that is the only public equestrian arena in Martin County. It is available to the public for general usage and for organized horse shows. Timer Powers Park is the location of the annual Indiantown Rodeo which is one of the nation's most prominent rodeos dating back to 1947. The park also has many other amenities like a public boat ramp and fishing pier on the St. Lucie Canal. There is an amphitheater, numerous pavilions with tables and grills, and a playground. Large oak trees provide shade throughout the park. Timers Power Park is part of the Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail. This park is ideal for a family celebration, play, fishing, or just a peaceful stroll like the one I enjoyed.

They also have a fishing area, cleaning station and a boat ramp which is free and open from dawn to dusk. A Really nice parking area and a playground for the kiddies! They also have a nice arena for rodeo events that take place around October of each year. Also picnic areas with charcoal grills with gazebo's for shade! The park is supplied with city water and restroom facilities. The fireworks display was truly an awesome experience last night and the Village did a spectacular job!

The South Bay Crossroads Center park is located next door to the South Bay RV Park and campground…read moreon the southern bank of Lake Okeechobee, the largest freshwater lake in Florida. Entrance to this park is next to the Sweet Bay campground. The park takes it's name from the fact that the town of South Bay is at the crossroads where two major roads, East-West State Road 80 and North-South U.S. 27 intersect. South Bay is the western most city in Palm Beach County. The conference center in the park is a 3,200-square-foot community building with catering kitchen but it is currently boarded up. What drew me to the park was the 1926 railroad workers cottage visible from the road. As a fan of historical buildings I had to stop and check it out. The railroad was built primarily in the last quarter of the 19th century and the first decade of the 20th century. The FEC was a project of Standard Oil principal Henry Flagler who built the railroad to Key West. Unfortunately the cottage is closed and looks like it needs some restoration. There aren't many buildings left relating to Flagler's time at the railroad so it was very cool to discover this piece of history.
