When I did get through to someone and asked for a name, I was told they were not at liberty to say. When I asked why I was being forwarded to security I was told, because they Don't Like Your Questions. I got a call from the head of security who threatened to have me arrested if I called again, then hung up on me. You will be better served at another of the many hospitals in the area Coeur d Alene, Spokane Valley or Spokane. I also had 3 surgeries at Kootenai Medical and was given excellent care with all discharge practices clearly explained and followed. Good luck! ​

It appears the nerve block that was administered did not take, and The CRNA failed to inform the surgeon. He was also directed to perform a block after the surgery. He did not. I asked the staff for the next 5 hours to bring in a doctor or anesthesiologist. This never happened. It was only when I went to the nurses station and told them to prepare her to leave AMA, and I would be calling an ambulance to pick her up, did I finally get some help. Before leaving, the Doctor called in a prescription pain relief to Walgreens. When we arrived there, the pharmacist told me he couldn't fill narcotics with in 24hrs. It was very fortunate that I had recently had surgery and had pain medication with me. We also cancelled additional surgeries because of poor treatment with pain management , and staffing concerns. I would never have a procedure there again. I later had a procedure at another facility, and My wife later had 2 other surgeries at Holy Family. OMG, what a difference. She received the very best care, and actually left the hospital laughing. I would not recommend this campus to anyone considering a surgical procedure.

The first response to pain help request was "I wasn't in enough pain because my voice didn't show enough pain over the phone." My caregiver and I were shocked at the response. At 6 weeks, I visited my regular doctor who gave me a list of questions to ask at the upcoming appointment. Dr. Scott dodged all questions, saying "everyone is different". Being different should not mean refusing to address the problem. Since then, my regular doctor team has managed the pain and more recently with an ultrasound and MRI has found swelling and post surgical changes. The ultrasound showed a large blood clot causing the swelling. These tests are pretty basic to rule out serious things like blood clots that can cause strokes. I am so grateful that my regular team of doctors are more interested in solving health problems than ignoring them. The stroke will take 2-3 months to dissolve and I don't know about post surgical changes treatment yet. I do know there is at least one other former patient with the same bad treatment facing a repair surgery. I wonder why Dr. Scott isn't working at Providence anymore or doing them in Spokane.

The surgeon PA points to X-rays they took and says well this isn't an easy fix like I'm assuming you think you will be getting. I just sat there because I was there to find out what was wrong. As the pain persisted he said "Oh, you must be a 6 month guy..." At 6 months "Oh, you must be a 1 year guy..." Then of course at 1 year "Oh, you must be a 2 year guy..." No, I'm actually a guy that rides a bike a few thousand miles a year and is very active who had the other knee replace 20 years prior with no issues. You, Mr. Scott, are a guy that uses adhesives that the subsequent doc pried off with a fingernail and left a huge gap in my knee joint that he could fit a full 2 fingers in. Avoid this hatchet man. There are MUCH better qualified surgeons out there.

The location of the surgery was to be a facility in Post Falls because he said the surgical facilities in Spokane were not clean enough. I was assured that all other visits would be in Spokane though. I was certainly dismayed to learn Spokane did not have adequate surgical centers. Prior to surgery, I was told to make my first physical therapy appointment for 3-5 days after surgery. These were to be at the PT facility, not at my home. The reason given was he wanted be walking immediately. None of my many acquaintances who'd had the same surgery had been without having support right after surgery. On the day of surgery, I had to be walking before leaving the surgical center, which I did. I had pills including 2 pain pills (oxycodone), 1 celebrex, and methocarbomal for spasms. On Sunday, March 23rd, I had been in extreme pain since Friday and unable to find relief, so I called the doctor's evening support number. My live in housemate and caregiver had given me all prescribed medicines without any relief. Dr. Scott responded and I, as normal for me, I put the call on speaker phone. The take-a-way was that he said I was not in enough pain because my voice didn't sound painful enough. I told him that I was in extreme pain, no matter what my voice sounded like. I was assured again that, no, my voice did not have enough of a pain sound. I had no ability to respond to the fact that this Doctor could evaluate patients by the type of voice sound over cell phones. After hanging up, my care giver who had been standing by the bed asked if I needed to be screaming instead of talking. She was very concerned because of my obvious pain and my inability to find relief during the days prior to the call. Considerable swelling made PT leg movements very difficult and painful, but I persevered. Eventually, I again tried to find some relief for the pain and stiffness. I felt from past experience that healing was not possible under extreme pain. The hydrocodone simply wasn't effective at all. I suggested to him that I should take some 14 year old morphine which was 15mg. This gave some relief, but after a week, I became concerned about the possibility of addiction. Since the surgery, I had been unable to eat much other than broth due to stomach upset and had lost about 10 pounds. On April 9th, I had another meeting with Dr. Scot regarding conflicting treatments and reported records showing everything was fine. I wanted to be part of the treatment team so I could know what was expected of me, rather than conflicting requirements. I had hoped to have some sort of plan, other than "everyone is different, so it was impossible to make any plans or projections". At this meeting Dr. Scott denied ever saying there wasn't enough pain in my voice. When I insisted, he said we were not going to discuss it again. We also did not discuss any pain relief plan. During week 5 (April 22nd), I lost 10 degrees of flexibility and was unable to do the PT. The PT person said I had to get the pain under control. I went to my medical doctor on Wednesday, April 23rd. who was also very concerned about the lack of pain control. She increased the original hydrocodone dosages by 50%. This time I could feel some relief and was able to have deep sleep for 2 hours. I have noted that the new dosage controlled the pain for about 3-6 hours before the throbbing pain returned. It is definitely a step in the right direction. She also decided to become my advocate when dealing with Dr. Scott. The change to every 6 hours was a huge difference from Dr. Scott's one tablet every 12 hours. At this time, I have no confidence in Dr. Scott's credibility. It may be that he has some short term memory loss issues and should be checked for Alzheimer's or dementia. The fact that he was unable to remember patient care for 17 days is of great concern to me. I sincerely hope the longer term memory was not affected while he did the knee replacement. Is spite everyone being different, Dr. Scott has not been interested in treating differences. I don't think I can go through another surgery to repair bad results. I have been in pain for 6 weeks and diminishing range of motion and inability to sleep more than a few hours at a time due to the pain. According to the physical therapist, after weeks, permanent damage becomes a concern. Most professionals realize there is a correlation between pain, lack of sleep, loss of appetite and healing. Dr. Scott is not one of them. On April 30th, I again saw Dr. Scott, but with a list of questions, such as what are the steps I need to plan on for future success and what type of medications should I take. Both questions were ignored. I was again told everyone is different, but there was no treatment plan to accommodate differences.

Doctor Stowell examined me and quickly diagnosed my condition. The Dr ordered an MRI and prescribed medication for my ailment. I returned a couple of weeks later after the MRI and the doctor reviewed it. The doctor recommended I do not have a knee surgery . Instead he recommended I get a cortisone injection. I have been pain free for about 6 months. I returned several months later for pain in my heal. The examining foot doctor diagnosed plantar fasciitis and ordered physical therapy. The therapist indicated that the fasciitis is a result of chronic tightness in the calf muscle. The therapist performed a muscle relaxation massage on the calf and several stretches. Those exercises worked great!!

I waited nearly three months to see Dr. Richard Lee Stowell, under the guidance of my physical therapist. When I finally got in, the visit lasted barely five minutes, with no meaningful examination, no new information, and no real plan. Instead, I was referred for a $500 MRI at Post Falls Emergency Hospital -- a facility the news is currently spotlighting for billing and arbitration practices. I later learned this MRI referral was tied to OSL and its partners, something that was never explained. Privacy was another major issue. During what should have been a confidential consultation, eight different people came in and out of the room with no introduction and no request for my consent. I did not agree to discuss my personal medical information in front of them. Despite being told to "come in ASAP" because the condition could be serious, the follow-up appointment was pushed out another 3-4 weeks, first to August 25 and then to August 27, with no explanation. The urgency they expressed simply wasn't reflected in their actions. When I finally emailed saying I would not be returning, the office manager called twice -- once to apologize and once to offer a refund of the $250 I paid upfront, asking me to come in and sign for the release of my records. I signed the release, but the imaging from the follow-up was never provided to me. Later, I received a letter stating the clinic was "terminating" me as a patient, even though I had already ended the relationship myself. The letter had no clinical purpose and felt like after-the-fact paperwork cleanup rather than genuine medical follow-up. This wasn't a simple scheduling mix-up. In my experience, it was a pattern: * Urgency stated, then ignored * Patient privacy overlooked * Administrative promises not kept * Records handled questionably * A referral pipeline tied to a facility now in the news for its billing practices Northern Idaho patients deserve better -- better coordination, better privacy, and better follow-through than what I experienced here.

My husband was a patient there for 5 years being treated for extreme back pain along with…read moremedication and things were going well (he could live with that level of pain) until Dr. Nathan Sneddon from there tried a "new" procedure and I've been in excruciating pain that nothing can relieve ever since. He burned me and I was literally screaming in agony. When he was done, he left the room and when I returned for my next appointment, he didn't even know who I was. After that, I received a letter signed by Dr. Dibble there that I was banned from the Spine Team and my care would be reverted back to the VA. I now have to use two canes or a walker to get around and my quality of life has gone way down. I would not recommend the Spine Team to my worst enemy.
