I like the father-son team, Roberto and Mondo. They've done some good work for me in the past. But on this job, their workers were careless and reckless. My brother and I planted these trees over 25 years ago. They trimmed them to 9 ft. Okay. But they broke a beloved, irreplaceable statue and didn't tell me. They broke a wooden rocking chair and didn't tell me. They broke the TV/internet cable and didn't tell me. They broke a Camilla plant as well. All of this I discovered on my own. Granted, they compensated me $150 for the statue and chair, repaired the wire, too, but I'd rather have my things back, which were broken needlessly, and the unique statue cannot be replaced. I also had vines growing into the wires in the alley. They did a good job, but they also cut some wires, which they left hanging in the alley in front of a neighbor's garage, and didn't tell me about it. They came back and fixed it. The worst thing is the large limb they severed that ran parallel to the wall, shielding and shading my view of the house next door. It provided shelter and shade for the birdbath and the hummingbirds that nest in it every year. They had no business cutting that and should have asked me. It's far below the 9 ft. limit, and now I feel sick when I look out the window and see the amputated limb, lack of shade and shelter, and the house next door with all its wires, dish, lights, and windows. I feel like I've lost a friend. I have photos of hummingbird eggs. They'll never come back. And I'll never hire this company again. read more

I was referred to Andy by 2 different friends, so I texted him with pictures & my request, asking for a bid. I needed a large tree stump ground up and also the removal of several big roots. His bid was much less than the 5 other bids I got. I was a bit skeptical, but my friends who referred him were very credible. I asked Andy if he could please do the job the very next day, to which he agreed. He ended up coming to my house 20 minutes before the time he quoted me, which I appreciated, as most people are late. He had a big grinding machine, a portable protective wall for my front windows, a great helper, and very quickly he had the stump and roots gone, took all the debris away, & he replanted what had to be removed to get at the trunk & roots. I couldn't believe how great he made the area look!! They thoroughly cleaned up everything too. A true professional, friendly, conscientious, hard working guy...at a GREAT price! They have done tree trimming for us in the past and did a nice job a few weeks ago cleaning up our 6 melaleuca trees. When they were finishing up, I asked the Supervisor if they had trimmed enough of the branches back to run the line. He said yes, it would be fine. When Southern California Edison came back, they said more of the tree needed to be trimmed. I called RTS back, explained what SCE said, they told me it would be 5 weeks for them to return and finish the job? We have used RTS Arborists for 2 major jobs - Removing 2 Eucalyptus trees (over 50ft tall) and thinning out 7 existing Eucalyptus Red Gum trees. Andy, Roberto, and the RTS team are great and professional. I was amazed at the precision, focus on safety, and efficiency that RTS performed each job. After each job, the yard was left immaculate. When RTS did their walk through for each job, they explained everything very well and were thorough. For the Red Gum Trees that needed thinning, the branches were going into our neighbor's yard. Andy spoke to our neighbor and arranged everything so the branches could be cut on our neighbor's property. RTS left our neighbor's yard as if nothing had happened. Our neighbor later spoke to us on how wonderful Andy and his crew were and wanted to use them to remove some trees. RTS did a fantastic job on thinning our eucalyptus trees by maintaining their shape and beauty but more importantly significantly reduced the risk of them falling. I have seen the work of other "tree cutting" companies that have been used around our neighborhood and the quality is very poor. I was in the nursery industry for over 15 years. A lot of the tree companies think thinning a tree is topping it, when you top a tree it actually makes it more dangerous when the runners start to grow. The tree becomes very top heavy which makes it more susceptible to falling in a wind storm or if there is an artic river rain storm (had 9 this past year). Trees grow on top a certain way to maintain balance with the underground root system, when the top system is comprised incorrectly (i.e. topping), the underground root system becomes unstable and thus it becomes matter of time when the tree will fail. We have a 3rd job for the RTS crew and will only trust using them for future work. I have recommended RTS to my family, friends, and neighbors. Thank you Andy, Roberto, and team for a job well done. They texted to say they would be earlier than the appointment time. I couldn't be there at that time and wanted to move the car before they started grinding the stump. Andy said no big deal, they would take lunch and set up until I got there. Once there, they ground up the stump and got the lawn to the point where I can put in grass and make it seem as the tree wasn't there. These guys are the best! After getting multiple quotes for a palm tree removal, Rolas Affordable Tree Service came in at the lowest price and they were available to come out sooner than anyone else. We just bought a house and there was a huge palm tree planted only a foot or so from the house, risking the roots damaging the foundation and the palm fronds falling on the roof and damaging it, so we decided it best to be removed. They had a team of 5 or so guys and they tore the tree down in under an hour. I couldn't believe how fast it was for a tree that was over 20 feet tall. I was expecting it would be a 3-hour job, but nope! They started at the top, cut all the branches off (without letting any fall on our house), cut the trunk down in pieces, grinded the roots down about 18 inches and hauled away every last little piece of the tree, leaving our yard clean. We are extremely happy with this company. We waited over a year to work with them. We had a big job and had to wait for financial reasons, they stayed in touch with me and checked in every so often. I called for a new estimate for the job and they came that afternoon and the job was being started the next day. They removed 24 trees and did stump removal on most. They were done after the 2nd day and when they left my yard looked cleaner than when they started. I would highly recommend them and would use them all over again for sure. All the guys that worked on our job were friendly and patient with us. We have kids and had to come in and out of the house a few times and they took the time to stop what they were doing as not to be in our way or cover us with wood chips. I cannot say enough good about both Andy and his entire team! We've used Rolas Tree Service twice in the last three years, once for tree trimming and the other for tree removal, and both times their work and service has been exemplary. This last time, a few weeks ago, they removed an enormous 80+ year old spruce from a very delicate spot, only a few feet away from the seawall in Mandalay Bay, and it was a sight to behold....like watching a superbly-executed ballet! The team of 7 or 8, including Andy supervising the effort, took 2 1/2 days of non-stop activity. They had to be very precise and very careful, and they were. Their preparation, execution, and clean-up was absolutely perfect.
