I think Joseph deserves 5 stars for his response time, his follow through and his patience and willingness to work with me. I have a stressed out 30 year Brazilian Coral tree which Joseph assessed and thought it was in need of a fungicide spray, based on the fallen leaves etc., and an aggressive cut back of what appeared to be a diseased canopy of cracked branches. "AI"didn't agree with him based on the symptoms, the time of the year, the age of the tree etc. It thought cutting it back midsummer during peak growth would send it over the brink...and "thought" fungicide spray was a waste of money...it directed me toward getting an assessment for possible boring larvae and its treatment I engaged in a discussion of these findings w Joseph and he was patient and accommodating. They worked very methodically and were very careful with my landscape. I was worried because of my prize Julia Child rose bush, Calla Lillie and new sod or my tiled porch and picket fence, newly landscaped Mexican pebble stones, but they were exceptional and so careful. I called for a quote yesterday around 130pm- Joe showed up within 20 minutes and gave me an excellent price. His crew was over shortly after to prep the area and this morning by 730 my 40ft pine tree was on its way down. The crew did such an amazing job working in less than ideal landscaping, plus working around a narrow path around the pool to haul out large branches- they not only worked around my garden- they did not disrupt a single plant. Other bids came in that were lower so I let him know (his paperwork said he would beat competitive bids) and he agreed to take a lower amount. Peter came out and provided me a quote for all of the work that needed to be done. I had 4 total quotes from different companies and his came in the lowest and he did not try to up sell me any additional services. Decided to go with this company and he was able to fit me in the following week. I have to admit that communication could have been a lot better, but we finally were able to connect. The day of, he texted me to let me know what time he was going to arrive. When he arrived, he had an army with him. Turns out that one of his other jobs got cancelled so he had 2 teams working on the house. After a walk through, I left him be and his guys completed everything within 1.5 hours. The scope of the work consisted of cutting and shaping a big tree in the front yard, cutting down palm frans, cutting the hillside and cutting down a tree to the stump in the back yard. On top of all this, he was able to remove some old stumps I had in the front yard at no charge and trimming some branches that was coming over from my neighbors tree. They cleaned up everything and didn't leave any leaves/branches on my property when they left. My only knock on them is if you decide to use a credit card, they charge 5% for that. read more

Hired them to clear out a beast of a bush in our backyard plus several trees and many, many smaller bushes and weeds. It was like our whole backyard was a jungle and it felt gross. I found West Coast through Yelp and contacted them for an estimate. Joseph personally looked at our tree (did not want just a picture) and his estimate was very fair for what they needed to do. Our liquid amber needed to be balanced and trimmed on the inside. They also suggested reducing the crown. The crew came out the next morning around 7 am. I told them that they could not use their power equipment because I did not want to disturb our neighbors at such an early hour. They understood and completed their work by hand almost noiselessly in about one hour. The tree looks great and I am anxious to see how it looks once it leaves out. They removed a couple of cypress trees that I considered a fire hazard. The crew asked for my approval of an aspect of the job, which I thought was nice. My yard was left in great shape, no damage to anything except the ground cover below the cypress, which couldn't be avoided. They swept up the hardscape nicely too. If you deal directly with Joe, and he supervises the job, I would give them a 5...I worked with Joe for years until I was handed off to an incompetent manager - the result being two beautiful Staghorn ferns being severely damaged since a crew member decided to cut them off of palm trees that were being trimmed. I stopped him midway through cutting one plant, and the other was damaged from falling branches - neither (after 2 years) looks anything like the plants we owned before. I was promised replacements and/or an expert to help them regrow - however they never came through. Moved on to another tree company - too bad, as Joe always did a great job. But the guy I was pawned off on lied to me - so I will not hire them ever again. They call to schedule trimming still, which I find annoying. Make sure they protect any plants underneath the trees being trimmed, and do not ruin valuable plants in the process of trimming. read more

After showing him some extremely obvious and hazardous issues with your Oak trees. I have decided that I am going to respectfully decline performing any services. I have to be honest with customers and your husband did not want to listen to my findings."
