The packet pickup was at Popstroke, located at TownSquare on Thursday between 3:00 - 6:00 P.M. I had a family member pick up my packet for me since I was at a local conference. You could also pick up your packet on race day at 7:00 A.M. This time, the race was held at Kellogg Zaher Sports Complex, located off of Summerlin Parkway/Durango exit. There is plenty of parking available. The race start and finish line was at the same location, which was great! The first thing that stood out about the atmosphere was how much this event focused on being community based and family oriented! Because the overall mission behind this event is to celebrate Moms in our community, the atmosphere was amazing! There was Kona Ice food truck, face painting, PopStroke (mini golf) and more! I thought the actual race was great as far as organization goes. Signs were clearly posted everywhere, and events went off on time. It was hot though! The race started at 80 degrees, and by the time I was done, it was 90 out! Some of the 10k runners ended up just running the 5k and getting their time adjusted. The race path at Kellogg Zaher Sports Complex was not flat. It went uphill for the first two miles, and then downhill. After the race, there was a single flower provided to all Moms and a race medal! There was water and a electrolyte drink as well. Snacks were located in a tent, away from the start/finish line. There was also awards for top finishers in certain brackets! It was a great run though and a wonderful event!

Love how they text you your time/pace within minutes of crossing the finish line, super convenient. Just like several of the last JusRun races, this one was held at the Western Beltway trail, starting behind PKWY Tavern and using an out-and-back. I would not recommend Send Me to Vegas based on our experience…read more We booked for a group of 22 people after being told by Matthew that this was "the best deal you'll find" and that nobody else offered anything comparable. For $30 per person, we were promised: * 1-1.5 hours at LIV Nightclub with free drinks * A party bus with "legit" free alcohol * Expedited entry into XS Nightclub (we understood we'd buy our own drinks there) Unfortunately, almost none of it lived up to what was advertised. We were instructed to arrive at the Fontainebleau lobby at 10:30 PM. Our entire group arrived early at 10:25 PM. After receiving wristbands, we waited until about 10:45 PM before even beginning the walk across the casino to LIV. Once outside the club, we were given another wristband and waited again before finally entering through the "expedited" line. Even that line took another 15 minutes, security split up our group, and by the time we actually got inside it was around 11:10 PM. Instead of the promised 1-1.5 hours, we had less than 30 minutes in the club before being told to leave at 11:30 PM. The party bus itself was nice, but the "free alcohol" consisted of assorted canned drinks sitting in a soft cooler. The ride from LIV to XS was only about 10 minutes. The biggest issue happened at XS. We followed the promoter's instructions exactly and waited in line for about 15 minutes. Then we were suddenly told that all the men in our group had to pay a $50 cover charge because we were supposedly "late." I immediately called Matthew, who claimed the fee had just been implemented. However, when I spoke directly with the XS staff, I was told something completely different. They said there was a cover charge for men and that Send Me to Vegas had never submitted our group or names to the club, and XS was nearly at capacity. To make matters worse, while I was trying to sort everything out with XS staff and speaking with Matthew on the phone, the promoter simply walked away and left our group in line without any explanation or assistance. In the end, we left without getting into XS and went back to our hotel. This experience felt disorganized, misleading, and unprofessional from start to finish. We spent a lot of time waiting, received far less than what was promised, and were ultimately left stranded when problems came up. I cannot recommend Send Me to Vegas based on our experience.

The Mustache Dache 5k is fittingly held during the month of November with proceeds going towards…read moreprostrate cancer. The race was held at Sunset Park on a sunny Saturday morning. The Mustache Dache is one of the better organized races I've participated in - the lines were short, they had t-shirts in my size, and all I had to do was give them my last name before being handed my registration packet. Hooray for efficiency! This 5k race also tries to spice things up a bit: a mechanical bull, a DJ set up, a photo booth complete with props, and a mustache station were on hand for runners to enjoy. The course was an easy flat run on the paved trails at the park. There were tons of volunteers steering runners in the right direction, as well as appropriate signage. The race was timed and all runners got a snazzy finisher's medal. I bought a Livingsocial voucher for the Mustache Dache for $35 (included a shirt, registration, and medal). It was available on Groupon as well. Costumes are encouraged! There's contests for best costume, group costume, and best mustache. I went as a lumberjack. ;) YELP 100 CHALLENGE 2015: #265

I have no clue how long…read morethis run has been around (3-4 years?), but with Lyft recently opening here (and doing a partnership promo!) and No-Shave November going on, this run is well-timed and popular! Plus, funds raised go to Zero Cancer, a group specifically focused on mens cancers. Run was well-organized, including an on-time start, QR codes for packet pickup, a clearly marked course, and lots of friendly staff. Sunset Park has been the setting for a few lesser-organized 5Ks, and the improvements with this version were much appreciated. Finishers medal doubles as a bottle opener and the participate shirts are actually cute enough to wear in public. Staff were helpful and friendly, atmosphere was fun, race was timed despite the low price. TIP: Check Groupon for discounted participation packages. This was one of the cheaper fun runs, with last-minute pricing topping out at $35, but saving a few bucks is always pretty cool.

There was plenty of stops during the ride so that we could rehydrate and have a snack. Steve also made sure that no one in the group got left behind since we had a couple of people that weren't familiar with ATV' s. The Big Game 5k was held on Superbowl Sunday in Downtown Las Vegas. I made sure to show my team…read morespirit by wearing a 49ers shirt to the event. At $19 on Groupon, the 5k was a steal. I picked up my packet the same day of the race with ease and didn't even have to wait in a line! The Big Game 5k drew a decent sized crowd and was set to start at 8:15AM. The race actually started closer to 8AM, and I think this reflects some poor organization skills (the 10k was set to start at 8, but I think due to poor communication everyone just took off at the earlier starting time). As are all races held in DTLV, the course was paved and flat = easy peasy. The Big Game website really promoted an after party at Goldspike, but this event really never came to fruition. I was one of the first to show up at Goldspike and the bartenders were unaware of any specials being offered to runners. After a long while, runners finally started to show up but the Goldspike event was just lackluster. All runners got a football finisher's medal. Overall, the Big Game 5k is not among my favorite runs but I would participate in this event again if there was a Groupon deal for it. Hopefully next years event is better organized! I like how this run has several events over the weekend, including a health expo and an optional carb-loading dinner meetup the night before.
