My husband and I shared the Rom's Fast Fix-A-Quick Delicious Small Bite with marinated beef, and it was fantastic. The beef was juicy and tender, practically melting in your mouth with every bite. The seasoning was spot on--flavorful without overpowering the natural richness of the meat. It paired perfectly with the rice, which was light and fluffy, creating a great balance of textures and flavors. The only thing that could have elevated the dish even more would be a little extra sauce to mix into the rice. That would have brought the whole dish together, but even without it, the flavor was still on point. I've never had Afghan food and am always interested in trying new ethnic foods if I get a chance. So, when I heard about Rom's House opening up in Marble City market, I was eager to try it out. The main entrees are a bowl that consists of meat & rice/veggies topped by a baked bread layer. It comes with a salad and drink. The meat was perfectly seasoned and tender. Really, it's a huge meal for the money and extremely delicious. It's comparable to Middle Eastern or Mediterranean food. But, slightly different in presentation and seasoning. Aside from the main entree, we also tried the fries. My son thought they were delicious and said it was his favorite version of fries. Service was reasonably quick and staff members were friendly. I saw lots of people here trying it out and everyone seemed to really be enjoying the food. Overall: This is a great new addition to the Knoxville restaurant scene. If you like trying different styles of food or enjoy Middle Eastern food, you need to try ROM's House. It's super delicious. Highly recommended. read more

Rom's House is located in a food hall in downtown Knoxville called the Marble City Market. The food is fresh and amazingly good. There was only one guy working at the stall when we ordered our food so it understandably took a little longer to get our food but it was totally worth it. We ordered Rom's Bowl - which is chicken, beef, and veggies over rice. Then the bread is baked over the bowl essentially creating an edible lid. It was served with a side salad with a lovely salad dressing. I think it had sumac in it but don't quote me on that!Although this was my first time eating Afghan food, the food felt familiar to me. The rice dish was similar to biryani (but not spicy) and the bread was a cross between a pita and naan. I can't wait to go back! read more

I love trying new cuisines, so I was excited to try Afghan food because the bowl looked unique. I got the beef bowl with fries. I enjoyed the bowl with fresh veggies; the rice was also delicious. Unfortunately, the beef was not seasoned, and the chunks were too big. It tasted like it had just been boiled in water without salt. That was disappointing. This place is good! I got the Roms bowl with beef. It was unexpected and good. The top of it is bread with seeds, making it a bit like a pie. Delicious beyond what I had thought it would be. I have never had Afghan food before, though I have had a lot of other Indian cuisines. This elevated different flavors than the rest, and was soul warmingly delicious. Can't wait to bring my friends back. Also the bowl is enough for two for sure! Very generous with portions. The bowl was excellent, especially after mixing in the herby hot sauce, and the presentation of the bread over the top was unique and fun. I happened onto Rom's House while on vacation in Knoxville and figured I had to try it since I'd never had afghan food before. I was very impressed! I had the beef plate with bread on top and everything was mouth-watering my tasty but also simple at the same time. Some foods are just perfect in their simplicity and that's what I had here: tender, seasoned beef, light fluffy rice, and warm, chewy flat bread. There was also a side salad and some kind of tomato/cucumber blend, like tibouli maybe, but without bulgur, that we're lovely additions to the plate. It was also plenty of food for one person and could probably feed two for a lighter dinner (though you may not want to share). I wish I could go back for more! They do one thing and they do it well. The best bang for your buck here in the food hall. The rice bowl thats baked with a bread cover. The meat is tender and full of flavor. And you got to get an extra cup of the sauce it's addictive. Asked for both chicken and lamb combo its great. read more

I was very disappointed. On the bright side, the portion for the Rom's bowl is incredibly generous. The gentleman who took my order was very kind and lovely, so feel guilty for leaving a bad review. I didn't like the bowl and the salad by themselves, but I liked them mixed together. The beef in my Rom's bowl was dry and bland with a rubber like consistency. The rice pudding was really bad. The restaurant itself was very hard to find. The spacing is strange. I think it would be better if the blinds were down so at least there was a nice view of the street. read more
