Worst food I have ever had for Italian. We had chicken piccata and chicken Marsala. Chicken Piccata came with chopped grilled chicken with huge rigatoni noodles in a bowl and the Chicken Marsala had chopped grilled chicken with mainly Alfredo sauce. You could not taste any Marsala wine! read more

This place had amazing Margherita pizza and a really good cheesy garlic bread appetizer. The marinara sauce was the best I've ever tasted! The food was phenomenal. Only thing was when you walk in, the hostess wasn't very friendly. So that's the reason for the 4 stars, but overall I would definitely go back. We had a fantastic lunch on Thursday with my hubby, our daughter & her boyfriend. We breezed in a few minutes after 1 (they close at 2 pm for lunch, and open up later for dinner). We had excellent service and did not feel rushed to leave. The food was great ! Fresh, nice presentation. I got the gyro and asked that they hold the fries & just give me more salad. Roma's is simply fantastic. The Zorba platter and the Mediterranean platter were both absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked proteins and vegetables. Perfect seasoning overall. The meat was super tender and juicy! The gyro meat was some of the best I've ever had! The tzatziki sauce on the side was excellent! The Greek salad and dressing was good as well. Overall a healthy but very filling meal! I will absolutely enjoy Roma's again in the future! (Hopefully soon!) read more

I came in for lunch with my boyfriend. They have a nice outdoor seating area and it was a warm day so we sat outside. The service was good and I like that you can pay when you're ready instead of having to wait for the check. I didn't know this though so I did wait for the check before realizing I needed to go inside to pay. I'll start with the good- my boyfriend's sandwich was great, and the bread tasted really fresh. I ordered a chicken salad and was really disappointed. While it was a big portion, it wasn't tossed at all. It was a bunch of lettuce piled with a bunch black olives from a jar (not a fan), some cheese and chicken. Unsalted tomatoes on the side. So underwhelming, and why did they put the dressing on the side? I like when my food arrives prepared, not something I have to try to toss on a plate with a fork. Sigh. Taking off a star for the salad. Also they don't have soups in the summer so it doesn't leave much on their lunch menu unless you just want a sandwich.. read more

Roma, an Italian style restaurant with a large bar attached with sports TV's playing. We're building a home in Laurens but come from a larger city in North Carolina. Having experienced true Italian food in Italy and not finding many very good restaurants in Laurens, we read a few reviews and thought we would chance it. The atmosphere is nice and clean and on this Saturday night only a few families were dining. We were seated immediately and offered beverages. The owner was our server and she was happy to give us a sample of their Pinot Noir. We weren't happy with it and thought we might like a beer. She was spot-on and her suggestion of a new Belgian white which was citrusy and delicious. From the menu we settled on splitting the fried shrimp in garlic and chili oil appetizer and sharing the Eggplant parmesan entree and the Athenian chicken entree. Shrimp appetizer arrived first. 6 medium sized butterflied bread crumb coated shrimps arrived on a plate surrounding a cup of chili mayonnaise. The shrimps were fried to a dark brown and appeared more like a fast food delivery. Although the mayonnaise was nicely seasoned and spicy, the shrimp tasted Frozen, flavorless and were cruelly crunchy. I would say they should have come out of the fryer a few minutes earlier. A salad followed with iceberg lettuce, red tomatoes, black olives, and their house dressing. The salad had little interest except the feta cheese and the dressing was okay but not marvelous. Lastly, our entrees arrived piping hot, the aroma was wonderful. We had to ask our server for bread, for which apparently there's and upcharge, and parmesan cheese or chili pepper flakes were not offered. The Athenian chicken was dry breast meat coated in some nice seasonings served with tomatoes and lemon. The side dish was bland white rice plus four quarters of pita bread. The eggplant parmesan, although not crispy as we like, was very flavorful and delicious and smothered and a flavorful marinara and a delicious melted cheese. The side dish was spaghetti with marinara and another piece of garlic bread. We prefer whole grain pasta but the owner said none was offered in her restaurant. They also didn't make substitutions for the pasta in the form of alfredo or linguine. A portion of the Eggplant Parmesan on top of the Athenian chicken made the entire meal delicious. We might go back for the eggplant parmesan. The wait staff was very nice. Our dinner tab came to $50 including tip. read more

While driving through town exploring today, we found this little gem. It's right downtown in a vibrant town square. We waited for it to open and we were not disappointed. The old brick of the building highlighted two of the walls and wooden floors finished off the rustic look. The walls were decorated with large Italian posters as well as some interesting local art, from the artist co-op a few doors down, I imagine. The food was delicious. The boys got a 10" pizza and kids spaghetti. The waitress said her husband makes the sauces from scratch. She may have been the owner, idk. I tried her favorite, Eggplant Parmesan, and husband had the Fettuccini Alfredo with Scallops, both were delicious. The only disappointment was that their desserts were not made fresh in house. But since it is super rare to fine a restaurant that does that anymore, I cant't fault them. The prices were reasonable for our entrees and the kids meals were only $3.99. It looks like they serve wine and beer for sure, maybe alcohol too, I didn't look but there was a bar. read more

I've been to this restaurant a total of 4 times. The first time was for lunch with the family and it was fine. The second time was for dinner it was okay. The third time was for lunch and it was abysmal. My sandwich was anemic and my husband's food was unremarkable. This last time, we haven't been in over a year, we decided we'd go and try it again. But alas, it was again Dreadful! I ordered a gyro sandwich with Greek potatoes and my husband had the lasagna with a side salad. The lasagna was okay, nothing spectacular, and the salad is mostly iceberg. He did put Greek olives and feta on his. Greek potatoes were delicious! The gyro was dry and over-salted and looked more like "Beggin Strips" than people food. It was served inside a warm pita wrapper with lettuce and tomato with tzatziki sauce on the side. Two bites and I was done. Such heavy rubbery saltiness, unlike genuine souvlaki that is cut from the spit. I don't think we'll ever go back. It's always disappointing read more

Very disappointed. My wife and I had visited two years ago and were pleased with the quality. Two years later and it seems that the quality is no longer what it was. My wife's gyro with Greek salad was all iceberg lettuce, no onion, bottled dressing and tzatziki sauce that tasted more like ranch than tzatziki. My Stromboli was very bland. The marinara sauce was thin and bland as well.. the crust was so thin that I actually chipped my tooth on my fork. Not the way you want an anniversary dinner to go. When we first visited the food was good, but the quality no longer justifies the price... very disappointed. read more

My husband and I went in one day for lunch. There were no other tables at the Tim's and seemed to only be one waitress. We sat down and got our drinks. We waited 10 minutes for her to come back and get our order. A party came in right after that. The waitress brought their drinks and appetizers, then salads, then food..... while we still waited. Someone else brought us our food. It was cold. I understand that waiting on a party can be distracting, but we saw our "waitress" twice through our entire visit. She took our order and never returned! The service was horrible, especially for food that wasn't authentic. read more

It was very mediocre. As a new Laurens city resident, I was really looking forward to eating here. We need more quality restaurants in the downtown area where walking around is encouraged. Unfortunately, this visit fell short. Mozzarella sticks were obviously frozen packaged products, quickly deep fried for service. Which is fine, most places are. I don't judge a restaurant by the appetizer normally. However, my wife's steak calzone was a greasy mess, the steak inside rubbery and unseasoned. My chicken parmigiana was underwhelming; edible, but the spaghetti obviously boxed and not homemade and the chicken also frozen and quickly deep friend. The sauce tasted like it was Ragu.... But it could have been homemade, I don't know. It was still good (nothing wrong with Ragu sometimes, there's a reason they have done so well themselves). We may come back and try other things, but our first visit was not promising. The pizza looked very tasty. Servers were also great, very attentive and polite. Roma has done many upgrades. They now have a bar and 2 TV's where you can watch your favorite sports game while you are eating your meal. They have new items on the menu like hot wings and paninis just to name a few. The atmosphere is still relaxing and warm. The owner is very polite, friendly, and very family oriented. The staff is polite and knowledgeable. My family and I LOVE going to Roma for a family meal whether it is just the 4 of us or if we have a large group of us and hang out for a while. read more
