Came to Rocco in Mauldin for Father's Day dinner and could not have asked for a better night. Great food, great atmosphere, and a great time with the family. They started us off with a prosecco shot on the house, which was a nice welcome. For starters, the whipped ricotta and goat cheese was a standout. It even won over my daughter, who said, "I've had goat cheese before but this is the first time I've liked it." For my main I had the Garlic Chicken. Creamy, rich, and perfectly done. It hit every note I wanted. The rest of the table worked through the Honey Garlic Shrimp, the Milanese, and the Lemon Basil Pesto, and everyone was happy. For dessert, the Dessert du Jour was a limoncello cake that my daughter absolutely loved, and my other daughter was stuffed but somehow still found room for the Cannoli from the Cannoli hole. Rocco's upstairs option is quickly becoming our favorite go to place in GVL. We've never been disappointed but our last visit we were blown away by the staff. We have our regular order, dozen oysters and the shrimp po boy, so when our server Alex came over, we just asked for those items without looking at the menu. A few moments later, Alex came over apologized and said they just switched to the spring menu and the Po Boy has been swapped out. We were disappointed but didn't think too much of and replaced the Po Boy with more oysters. The GM came over and said the Kitchen Manager heard our situation, had the ingredients to make the sammich and wanted to make it for us. We thanked her but declined their offer. It really wasn't a big deal to us. When Alex brought our oysters, she again asked if we wanted the Po Boy and this time we relented and got the sammich. It was a good decision. It was awesome. Our family is Italian therefore, we know good Italian food. The three of us were excited to try it. We were so disappointed. My friends and I decided to try this place after finding out Cantina Rooftop was closed. We sat on the outdoor patio, which was perfect with the nice weather. We started with the Brussels sprouts. They were crispy, flavorful, and topped with a pomegranate glaze that really completed the dish (so good that I forgot to take a picture!). I ordered the ribeye and was a little hesitant at first since it came with a side of steak sauce (I believe A1) as any steak lover knows, a good ribeye shouldn't need it. Thankfully, the steak was cooked perfectly, juicy, and flavorful, so I skipped the sauce altogether. They also had an excellent selection of bourbons, cocktails, and wines. My friends ordered pasta dishes and said they were very good. Overall, it's not a bad Italian option, but it wouldn't be my first choice if I were specifically looking for Italian food. Side note: this restaurant charges a 3% up charge to use a credit card- I'm just now noticing these things as it seemed a lot of places did in Florida while I was away. We love going to bridgeway station and finally tried out restaurant Rocco for their happy hour. Service was great, the sommelier came to the table to talk about the wine list which was helpful in making decisions - they have half off bottles of wine during happy hour and we were able to try a really nice wine for a great price! We also shared half off appetizers which was a great deal and we left very full from just sharing lots of apps and no entrees. The cheese and charcuterie board was good and very generous portion. I loved the whipped Ricotta & goat cheese dip the most, so rich and delicious. The meatballs were pretty good, not my favorite I've had but the sauce was very good. I also tried the side Caesar salad and it was really good with the croutons crumbles - I also couldn't believe how large it was for a side! Last Thursday we ate at Rocco for a friend holiday party. The staff was so friendly, shout out to Anthony. Last night the family tried the cannoli hole. This is such a fun concept. Ive been wanting to try Restaurant Roccos for a while. Finally did last night. My husband got the only reservation left for Saturday evening at 5.30pm. We arrived about 5 mins early and seated straight away. There were only a couple of other tables taken at the time. Amazingly within a few minutes the restaurant was full! It gets very loud when it is. You have to shout to be heard. Our server was great, very attentive . We ordered our drinks and cocktails. Thankfully the menu is not vast and has great Pasta and Steak options. We ordered Crab cakes and a Flatbread . Far too much unnecessary Arugula on the top, you couldn't see the flatbread. Crab cakes were bland but crispy. The flatbread needed a little more prosciutto on top. We ordered Chicken Parm ( strong tomato flavor) Chicken Marsala (lots of mushrooms) and a Milanese pasta dish ( two pieces of asparagus was the seasonal veg) Large portions of pasta. The chicken was like "sous vide" style so a little rubbery and not tender and stringy as you would expect for freshly cooked pieces of chicken. We had a side of fries which were soft not crispy. The garlic bread slice served with it is very buttery and garlicky. Would return again to try the steak options. When we got our check we noticed they charge you $5 for using a Credit Card!!! A little sneaky extra they don't tell you about. For what reason??? I mean most everyone pays that way these days......don't they? Overall a nice restaurant set in Bridgeway Station with mediocre pasta dishes. Large portions of pasta. I would prefer smaller portions and better freshly cooked chicken breast! This was a pleasant accident!! We sat at this small 6-8 seat bar. No TV's. High back chairs but slightly too low ( in my opinion). This is a nice place , not for baseball hats , the tables have low level lighting and are intimate and the decorations make you feel like you are in someone's Italian home. Cocktails are great . All with an Italian flare. Try the Margherita! Succulent, sweet and tart. Great selection of wine! Josh amd Michelle were attentive bartenders with good suggestions. We both ordered the Salmon...it was fresh with great seasoning and not over cooked. We certainly need to try some more food items . We met some nice friends at the bar also. We will absolutely go back! So ironically we had intended to go to another restaurant that started with the letter "R" and we got mixed up but still thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! read more

For me this place falls into the dime a dozen Italian restaurants. The piece of lasagna I had was actually pretty good, but worth 34.00 - no way. The server - who was very nice- her body language led me to believe that she wasn't a big believer in her restaurant. I like the location. I think this place could be way better with some creativity. I loved the interior of this restaurant and the chairs were super comfortable. Acoustics were bad. Restaurant is very loud. We had the lasagna which we LOVED. It came with some foccia bread and a side cesar. I will say they are very stingy with the dressing. I asked for extra right up front and it was just a normal amount. My mother who didn't ask for extra barely received any. We had to ask for more and our waitress "Brooke" seemed annoyed by our request. Her demenor the whole time seemed rushed, stressed and annoyed. The place is very expensive and for those kind of prices, I would expect better service. I would go back for the food but if the service is just as bad that would be the last time. On a side note, the hostess had an attitude as well. Maybe we caught them on a bad night. Hopefully it will be better if we end up giving it another try. read more

BS Credit Card Fee. Rather than walking away, talking about the decent decor, ambience, and fairly average food, we spoke of the cash grab credit card fee sneakily applied to the bill. Restaurants...It is a cost of doing business. The overwhelming majority pay this way; it should absolutely be included in your overhead and pricing. By all means, offer a cash discount in the small print, but the BS add on just leaves a bad taste. read more

I have never once felt compelled to leave a review. Until today. I even created a yelp account 5 mins ago to type this message. This place is very nice, it's clean, and the people were friendly. But plain and simple: I cannot believe someone lays their head on a pillow at night knowing they're serving Italian food like that. And even worse, charging real American dollars for it. The margarita flatbread looked and tasted like the frozen pizza you leave for the babysitter to pop in the toaster oven for the kids. Soft, chewy base with cheap, robbery mozz congealed on top. The lemon butter carbonara was nothing more than a bowl of overcooked shells in the least cohesive sauce imaginable. The highlight of the lunch was my socially awkward wife giving in to a second apple cider spritz order, despite passing the first one around the table to enjoy a group chuckle about how odd the taste was. I don't have anything against a restaurant concept cooked up in a conference room. Fully realize every eatery can't be led by an owner or a chef who's life passion is their food. But for whatever reason, Rocco is the worst offender I've encountered in this category, ultimately getting me off the couch and participating in the yelpsphere for the first time. read more

TL/DR great crab cakes, basic Caesar, dirty glasses, tiny steak, soggy frites, dirty plate Wine glass was littered with water spots and a smudge that could have been the previous users lipstick. Fig/prosciutto flatbread was delicious but served on a plate smeared with marinara sauce on one side. The New York Strip was the thinnest I've ever seen at about 1/2 inch. Ordered med-rare was served a combo med-rare/ blue. Flavor was ok but nothing special. Duck fat frites- 80% were limp/soggy very few crisp fries. No sauce served. Requested a garlic aioli, server returned with a truffle aioli and a "spicy pesto" aioli which tasted of only rosemary as they were out of the garlic aioli. The crab cakes were delicious, and very light. The side Caesar was good but basic. Positives: wonderful server, crab cakes and flatbread were great. Food and atmosphere were the best part of this spot. Food was very good. Portions are on the smaller side but not too little. Service was good. Atmosphere was cozy and well put together. One complaint is they do not serve the whole menu during brunch hours even though they give you the full menu. No where outside of a small note on the brunch page itself implies that the full menu isn't served. Additionally there were a lot of flies in the windows near where we were eating. First off, I never leave bad reviews because I know sometimes things happen and people have bad days, but I'm sorry, I was very disappointed with Rocco. To start, the restaurant was so loud that we could not have a conversation and it wasn't very busy. Our server started out okay but never asked us for a drink order. I ordered honey shrimp with risotto. The dish came out and the honey sauce was so thin that the risotto was literally floating in the bowl. The honey sauce was so sweet and the shrimp was overcooked that I couldn't eat it. My wife ordered the chicken and pasta with white sauce. She took two bites and that was enough. Our waitress never came back after she took our order. Our water glasses were empty and we waited on the check for a very long time. When she finally showed up with the check I handed her my credit card right away. It took her 20 minutes to come back with my card. I am not one to complain and this is the first ever bad review I have ever left, but we will not recommend Rocco to anybody. read more

Rocco was an underwhelming experience. When we walked in we were super excited the interior of the restaurant is beautiful and has a great ambiance. The server we had was a bit vague and not personable. We ordered the bread board as an appetizer and it was great! Perfectly toasted 8 pieces of bread with great dipping sauces. We were a party of four and all picked pasta dishes, chicken Marsala, spaghetti with clams, shrimp scampi, and chicken milanese. All of the pasta was over cooked and just extremely bland, the shrimp scampi had a sauce of pasta water and a hint of butter. The wine selection was great and cocktails were made with care. I will be back for the ambiance and drinks and hope that the food can improve, this restaurant has a lot of promise! read more

First thing we noticed was the decor; especially the unique color of the walls and the dining chairs (which were very comfortable). Service was pleasant and attentive. We had the buratta (no bread comes with it and no bread is brought to the table for dinner, just fyi). We also had chicken Milanese over fettuccine Alfredo, the salmon, and tiramisu. I did not taste the chicken but was told it was very good, the Alfredo was tasty and we appreciated that the fettuccine was not drowning in it. The salmon was delicious and I loved the small amount of broth from the spinach and broccolini. Both dishes included carrots which were perfectly cooked. The tiramisu was very good as well. First of all I love Rocco's food I personally love the classic clean fresh taste of their sauces. The bread flight is worth every penny and if you go during happy hour you can try so many appetizers. Unfortunately I had an aweful experience while trying to order a meal to go. I was told in person they won't allow take out. I asked if I could order a meal at the bar and then box it myself and the manager was so rude and snapped back in a nasty tone that I could only eat if I sat down at a table. The restaurant was completely empty not a soul in sight. I could understand this strictness if they were busy but they wernt and also her rudeness was uncalled for. read more

Im going to be completely honest. I was expecting so much more but only was really there for the $1.50 oysters which were fine besides the minette only have one sliver of shallot in it which was extremely disappointing and the lemons being way too sweet. We also got an appetizer (the whipped ricotta and goat cheese) which didnt even have enough bread to eat all the cheese despite it being super delicious causing us to waste over half of it. I also got the arugula salad which was extremely dissatisfying . It was all stems and no leafs. I didnt even finish half of it. My boyfriend got the new york strip which was also disappointing. It came pre cut and over cooked especially after he ordered it medium rare. For drinks we got the Lavender bloom which was absolutely amazing and then the apple cider spritz which was beyond disgusting. There was no apple flavor at all. We skipped desert as we were already disappointed. Our waiter was a whole different story. She seemed intoxicated to the point where she asked multiple times "you good". Overall it was a very disappointing experience especially after spending almost $200 after tips even though they were not deserved. Skipping this place on our next trip. The ambiance was amazing but just that is not worth the price. Save your time and check out something else. read more
