I bought my Volkswagen jetta from here a little over a year ago, I had been driving a honda for the past few years, it was very banged up and was no going to pass inspection and had my mind made up that I wanted to try a VW and that I also wanted it to be Standard. My father and I had been driving by and I spotted the car out front, it was exactly what I was looking for besides the color, It had crazy low mileage and it looked brand new.. The sales person told me I wouldn't find another deal like that, and I didn't want to make any other quick decisions so I checked out several other dealerships.. a few of the places people didn't even come out to help me.. I'm not sure if it was because I'm young but even so, I found it very rude.. I also found that my sales person was right I didn't find another deal as good as what he offered. My father and I went back the next day to make an offer on the car and they gave me a good deal on the trade in even though my Honda was so beat up. I absolutely love my car, and I have been back for oil changes at the dealership and they have been great! read more

Joe Formano sold me my vehicle. I'm younger (~30), so he took the liberty of giving me a bunch of unsolicited, patronizing advice throughout the process. Not atypical. What is atypical though, is that they did not properly transfer ownership when I traded them my vehicle. Eventually, I received a notice from city of Syracuse it had been impounded for abandonment. They likely allowed it to be stolen and filed an insurance claim, which was worth more than the vehicle was at the time I would guess, much to my detriment. Luckily, the city of Syracuse informed this is quite common with this dealership (Romano) and waived the charges. I would've hoped at least a free oil change would've came out of this headache...nope... Also, after purchasing the vehicle they did not properly do the paperwork for me to receive my ford points (around $200 value), even though I called them repeatedly to help me with it. Eventually I called Ford directly and after explaining the situation, which was determined to be negligence from the dealership, they reimbursed them. Luckily I was able to work this out because Ford made clear to me the date had technically pass from which I could recieved them. After nearly a dozen calls going to voicemail or left with management, Joe never bothered to call me back. I'd suggest other dealerships in the area: Koerner in Syracuse or Maguire in Ithaca. The Bronco I bought from them sure is awesome... Joe though, not so much. read more

Bought a new Ford in Rochester in 2025. Received numerous recalls so I reached out Romano to have them addressed. Was told they would take 2-3 days. They told me I couldn't get a loaner because I didn't buy it from them even though I had no other means of transportation. Every other Romano dealership advertises free loaners regardless of where the vehicle was purchased. I keep my vehicles for a long time and rest assured Romano will never get my business in the future. read more

We have purchased 8 vehicles from Romano over the years. However, never again will I deal with Romano or a Ford product. I purchased a new F-150 from Romano. 6 years/75,000 miles later the 10 speed transmission failed. Internet research found there was a defect to the 10 speed transmission. Ford reimbursed us 60%, Romano took no responsibility. My wife purchased a new Ford Escape. 5 years 1 month/63,000 miles later the engine failed. Internet research found there was a defect in which coolant was leaking onto the engine block. Ford is willing to reimburse us 40% and Romano who had notice of the defect through company bulletins is taking no responsibility. read more

But ya know I got thinking too that I could buy a stinking brand new f150 at what I hearing with the Employee purchasing program plus going to Romano's I got the BEST trade in value for my 2014 f150. So, Yes it starts What are my wants n' needs in a F150 pickup and we (wife an me) sit down with Steve and he ask's us again what or are you using the the Truck for, I say we're pulling a travel camper and says you'll need a Tow package and so on, we talk on and come to the conclusion the XLT with the 302A package and I'm old school wanting the v/8 growl of the engine. Lol. We find a truck down state but it was Sold Ugh!!! I'm pissed. BUT there's Light, it's at the other end of the state (Buffalo way) Steve calls me are ya interested still, Hell Yeah!! and it's available still, What color is it and he says Space white ya gotta see it, it's beautiful. I would give it a negative star if I could. The service department at Romano Ford in Fayetteville nearly cost me a blown engine on a relatively new F150 and didn't care that I could have been stranded without a vehicle. I began seeking help there in 2021 to address a problem with excessive oil consumption and recurring engine lights. My first appointment was canceled and rescheduled to ONE MONTH later. No alternative solutions were offered. At that appointment, I was told they couldn't help me because the engine light was no longer on. They said it was impossible to review past engine codes. When the engine code went back on, the engine was low by THREE QUARTS OF OIL. Instead of finding out the cause of the oil consumption, Romano Ford charged me over $250 to tell me that it was low and add 3 quarts of oil. I reported the issue to Ford Customer Care. Romano Ford claimed that I hadn't taken care of the vehicle which was untrue as I had brought it to an independent mechanic that is the one that diagnosed the problem in the first place. I continued to have issues with the engine light coming on and was told there was a plugged solenoid which Romano replaced in late 2021. That did not resolve the problem and the solenoid was replaced multiple times over the next year or so. Then I learned that the engine for that particular F150 was known for excessive oil consumption and the service protocol was to begin a checklist of repairs and to monitor the oil consumption. So I went back to the Service Department and asked for the correction. Getting an appointment with the Romano Service Department was always difficult and they scheduled me weeks, if not months out. I continued to get check engine light warnings and consulted with my independent mechanic. He suggested I go back to Romano Ford for further assistance. I did so at around 50,000 miles. ROMANO FORD LIED TO ME AND TOLD ME THAT MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY SO THEY COULDN'T HELP ME. This was untrue. The factory was good for at least 10,000 more miles. My engine could have been repaired under the original warranty if Romano Ford cared enough to help me. In an abundance of caution, I purchased an Extended Warranty through the Ford Motor Company at a cost of $3,500. I asked Romano Ford to begin an oil consumption test which they did SEVEN MONTHS after I alerted them to the issue. The truck continued to burn oil and the VCT solenoid had to be replaced several times. At this point, I was at about 57,000 miles on the engine. The original warranty was still active, but running out. At this point, it was burning oil regularly, approximately 1-2 quarts every few weeks. In Spring 2023, my engine began to stutter at stops and sometimes wouldn't start. I called the Service Department again and asked for an appointment. ROMANO FORD SCHEDULED ME FOUR MONTHS OUT. They didn't care that I would be stuck somewhere without a car. Frustrated and frightened, I called another local Ford dealership for help. They got me in THE NEXT DAY. The Service Advisor proactively noticed there was likely an additional issue besides the stutter at start-up. The stutter was a faulty starter that the other dealership replaced IMMEDIATELY and under warranty. The other dealership looked into the service history and noted the obvious oil consumption issue. Three months later, the second dealership was able to secure authorization for replacement of the entire engine, a value of $14,000 under the extended warranty that I independently purchased for $3,500. If Romano had addressed the issue in the two years prior, the engine would have been replaced at no cost to me under the original warranty. Romano Ford did not care about me one bit. They didn't care if I got stuck. They didn't care if my relatively new engine was destroyed. They had no interest in serving my needs and I would never go back there again, nor would I recommend them to anyone. Update: I have all the receipts and records. I'm definitely in the system. read more

Had a bad experience which the tech tried to turn it to my fault. Approx 3 weeks ago I called to schedule a nys inspection. The person answering said they had several openings so I selected a 8am appointment. When I arrived she checked me in and said she'd call me when it was done. I corrected her by saying no I have an appointment she said no it says you'll be here at 8. She also informed me that if you're going to wait for it I must inform them at the time of the appointment. She was able to get me in so within a couple of hours I was out. read more

You will get ripped off by this dealership and they seem to take pride in it. Bought a F150 platinum in 2021 and paid $2,800+ for an extended warranty. Now I have issues with the powertrain making a very loud whirring noise when I drive the truck, as well as my power side steps no longer working which are about $3,000 to replace or $500 for just new motors which would most likely solve the problem. After 2 weeks of diagnosis, dealership refused to repair side steps and blamed it on corrosion. After the dealership visit, we took the side steps off to inspect and there is no corrosion anywhere at all! The motors have simply failed. They changed a pinion gear in the rear differential which had nothing to do with the issues I'm having. I had to partially pay out of pocket for that too. The truck also had small issues like a broken emergency brake when I bought it but they refused to acknowledge that they sold it to me like that. I can see why they would think that because it's a wear item, but that doesn't change the truth and the experience I actually had. Just very unprofessional in general and it was a spit in the face after what seemed to be such a smooth sales process with Danny Hamad. read more

I can't say enough about how helpful Chris Hayes was My Ford 150 had an issue with the engine light. I told Chris that if it was not ready by Friday I needed a loner pick up to tow our food trailer to a cancer walk in Syracuse He said he didn't have anything. Came in at 4:30 to buy or lease a new Explorer and walked around the parking lot for 30 minutes and a salesman walked by with just a "sup". When I went in and asked to talk about an explorer, the salesman (older dude with a bald head) who was reclining in an office chair rolled his eyes, looked at his watch and said "we close in 5 minutes, so....". From there I was done. He followed me out the door, but there is no way I'm doing business with someone who can't be bothered. It was a quick interaction, but enough where I won't go back. This review is for romano vw service. Its in the same location as romano ford. They took apart my engine to diagnose the problem. They DID NOT make sure the gaskets and seal were okay to drive afterwards. After I paid for the service and brought home my car, only to find a PUDDLE OF OIL in my driveway. Brought it back. They installed new gaskets which I fairly paid but CHARGED me a second set of labor cost!!! when it was their fault for NEGLIGENCE while sealing the engine in the first place. Beware of sub-par repair services at higher cost. 05 vw jetta tdi valve cover gasket replacement cost on average $150, Romano Service charged me $220. When I tried to call the Director of Service Dept. several times, NO REPLY NO ANSWER. Such POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! Plus the little things, they DIDNOT put my engine cover back, had to get it from them. The facilities was clean but unorganized. read more

I had a very bad experience in December with the service department. Had to return in January for a factory recall. Made an appointment 11 days in advance. Took vehicle in at 9 a.m. Called around 3 p.m. to check on status of my vehicle. Eric called back and said that they were running late, could they keep the car overnight. Seeing that they don't work a full day on Saturday, I told him I would get the car on Monday. On Monday, just before noon, I called to see if the vehicle was done yet, Eric said No - I had to ask if they even had the car into a bay yet and he again said No. The recall instructions said it could take up to half a day and the engine had to be cooled before they could work on it. OK they have had it since Friday and nothing has been done yet. I decided to call the service manager only to be told that just because I made an appointment it did not mean my vehicle would be worked on that day - so what is an appointment for. The service manager had Eric in on the problem and I could hear Eric say "Oh, this is the lady with paperwork from Taylor". This refers to the horrible incident that went down in December. The service manager listened to me and finally agreed that I was right and that the car will be done today. Car wasn't done until 3:58. So I guess if I need anything done in the future, I either go to another FORD dealer or use a phony name if I do to Romano. It has been a week now and even though I told my salesman about this and he forwarded it on to Mike Fisher, no one has reached out to me. Nice customer service Romano. read more

Just had the worst experience with a service department ever! Made an appointment 1 1/2 to 2 weeks ago for an oil change and recall for my backup camera. I also had a couple of other small things that I wanted checked. I had an 8:45 appointment to drop it off on Tuesday morning. At that time, I asked about what time he expected it to be done. He stated that it should be done that afternoon. So since we live 45 miles away and it's about a 45 minute drive, my husband and I decided to run some errands while we in the city then figured if we did lunch it wouldn't be too long before the truck should be ready. But upon calling after lunch we were informed that they hadn't even brought into the shop yet and it would be most likely the next morning. It never even got in the shop until after lunch on Wednesday. Then I got a call about 2:30 Wednesday stating that they got the oil change done but couldn't do the recall since they didn't have the parts and they had to be ordered. That was the main reason that I brought into a dealership. They wanted to schedule another appointment! So I can waste another day driving back and forth. Also spending more money for gas, trucks do like to eat!!! Will never go back there to either buy a new vehicle or for any service issues, They stated that they had a couple of vehicles that took longer than expected and that was why my truck was pushed back. Their problem should not become mine, but it did and all they offered was excuses!! read more

He established a quote and located for me a car that suited my criteria. He even faxed over a copy of the MSRP documents. Yesterday I went in for a test drive based on this information. Yet today when I tried to sign the paperwork another salesperson presented me with a different monthly price, handwritten on the email exchanges I had with the first employee. Absolutely disgusted with my experience at Romano Ford. Three years ago spoke with a dealer named Peter Hourigan. At the time they were running a special on 2014 Ford Escapes. I live south of Pulaski and work in Jamesville. We discussed a 20k lease at the time. After some negotiation we agreed on 285$ as a monthly payment with several thousand down. This was significantly more expensive then the special that was being advertised but I understood that a 20k lease increased the payment. When I returned to sign the paper work, my dealer was no wear to be found. The paper at the time showed a different over millage rate then previously discussed. When this was brought to the attention of the person helping me he shrugged and said he couldn't do anything as "corporate set the rate". Well I signed as I needed a car and figured id just pay the difference when the time came. Well 3 years later when I returned the vehicle the paper work on file showed I signed a 3 year 15k lease!!! There is no chance in hell I would have knowingly signed a 15K lease. My fiancee who was present for all discussions with Peter Hourigan can verify this. Unfortuantly I signed the paper work with out reading it fully as I trusted my sales individual to draw up the right paper work. Today I had to pay the crooks at Romano Ford 5000$ for overages. Oh the icing on the cake was when they refused to take my credit card to pay the overage. They refused because it would have charged them to use the credit machine.... I may have lost my cool at this point. After a heated conversation they decided to run my credit card. BASELINE: DO NOT TRUST ROMANO OR PETER HOURIGAN. My wife And I had the worst car buying experience at Romano Ford. We drove 50 miles and came prepared to buy two vehicles. We spoke to Duane Clark via text about the specific vehicles. The Ford was at his dealership. The Jeep was at a different Romano dealership. He told us he would have the Jeep brought to his location so we could look at both at 7pm. When we arrived he immediately switched us to a different salesman who was friendly but showed us everything but the Ford and Jeep we came to look at. We asked several times about the Jeep but couldn't get an answer as to where it was on the lot. After looking at several cars we asked to drive the ford. He then told us we couldn't. That the ford was sold earlier. So fine "let's look at the jeep." We were told that's at the other dealership, even though Duane Clark said he would have it brought over. So off we went to the other dealership. When we got there they informed us it was sold earlier in the day. This is terrible customer service. They knew both vehicles were not available. No text warning. No phone call. The Jeep would have been there to view if it was available. They knew the Jeep was sold and still sent us on a wasted trip to Romano Toyota. Classic bait and switch. Three hours of my life wasted on these crooks. I'll never set foot on another Romano lot as long as I live. read more

I bought a new VW GTI 2016 from Romano VW/Ford. Sean Spencer was my Sales Consultant, but I also dealt with Mike Fisher on a few occasions. This is the first time I ever bought a car in the US and as you can imagine, there was a lot to learn and the process was long and elaborate. I really wanted to like this place as the other VW dealership in Driver's Village has a terrible rep. Sean started pretty nicely, but on the day we struck the deal, I had a lot of questions and was anxious to know a few more details before signing on a zillion papers. I kid you not, Sean was pretty FRUSTRATED and SLAMMED his coffee cup against the table, spilling coffee over the paperwork-- out of frustration. He did not even care to apologize. He remained pretty HOSTILE throughout the rest of the conversation and was RUDE for the rest of the conversation. It gets WORSE! We had decided to trade in my old car and they kept on MISGUIDING me so that I would sign the paperwork and once that was done -- they were like oh we need more of the paperwork before we can take your car, bla bla. I got all the paperwork and went back to trade in the car. Mike Fisher tells me that now the DEAL IS OFF and that WE NEVER PROMISED anything like that. I was shocked! I confronted him and reminded that greedy mind of his. He made some phone calls and came back with a sorry face, but clearly not genuine. He agreed to the deal and today it has been 4 months since the deal was struck and I still HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY MONEY for the trade-in. Unbelievable. I would NEVER GO BACK AGAIN. They might be nicer than many other dealers, but they are very greedy and think their learned customers are fools. Be honest, and it will pay back. read more

We have been using the Romano VW repair shop for out jetta for a few years. Although they have alway been efficient with getting our car in, their actual service is sub par. They are the only shop who had ever changes our tires and today when I got my first flat the "key" to remove the nut was not in the bag in my trunk that came with the car. I was stranded with my infant for 2 hours because even AAA could not change my tire. My husband called the shop to see if there was any possibility that their employee who worked on out car could have taken it out and not put it back. He denied that this was even a possibility. Of course they want the car towed to them so they can fix it there and charge us. As I said, they are the only ones who have change our tires. Every time we have gone in, the quote has been far less than the bill. The last time we took the car in we ended up taking it to another shop after we heard the quote and got the car out for $300 less than their quote. I am extremely disappointed with their management and service. read more

My elderly parents bought a Ford Escape here. After less than a year, their AC stopped working. They took it into the service shop on 4 occasions, and charged my dad for work. After 4 visits, my dad said it's officially a lemon, but they refused to handle it as such. They ended up talking my dad into buying a more expensive version of the same car to replace the junk they sold him. These guys are scam artists that take advantage of the elderly. I recently moved back to Syracuse and will never be being a vehicle from these unethical criminals. I recommend you don't even consider them. There are enough alternatives. read more

I never felt pressured by Dan, and left feeling very informed to make a decision. I came back the next day and made the decision to lease a 2016 VW Passat. I love it! purchased a car of the show room floor. paid buy check for car tax plated registration up front. when I arrived to pick up the car. I weighted 2 hours. finally a service man came to office to state they would not need to inspect the car as it was off the showroom floor. the salesman then said they would not be doing the small services i negotiated ether. I would also need an additional $60.00 for registration. I stated these things were paid for already but to no result. 2 weeks latter I received a letter demanding another $80.00 for registration. when I called I complained I had already paid for all these incidentals that they should be ashamed of the additional billing. but I would come and pay to get the registration. when I arrived there were salesmen and the general manager weighting. the salesman tried to laugh the bill off, the general manager began to threaten to keep the registration and take me out to the service department to meet the boys. after 15 minutes I stated I was returning the car. then the general manager got up and went with me to the cashier. after I paid the $80.00 additional it was a grab match to get the receipt and registration from this general manager. when that failed he pushed up against me grabbing me and saying I was going to the service department. that's when I reveled I had brought some one with me. and they were there watching and listening. then I was allowed to leave. my advice be very carful and go in pairs. read more

I hate buying vehicles so I tried to do everything through the Web. I negotiated a lease deal for a new truck. When it came down to coming in and signing they insulted me with a $6000 trade offer on my 2008 Ford F150 SuperCrew with 95k miles. I sat there and expressed my frustration and they asked me what I expected. I expected a fair deal. He sat there in front of me and went to Blue Book to try and prove me wrong. The number he came back with was between 12k and 14k. I told then to give me my keys so I could leave... They tried to come back with another lowball offer of 8500. I took my keys and left. They then called me with a 9k offer... Stop playing games with people. That is the old way. But a big THANKS to them. I went to FX Caprara , no BS. Walk out with a new truck that day. Very first offer they gave me because it was the best they could do. No BS no GAMES. 3 weeks later that same truck I was going to buy at Romano still sits there in the lot.
