Please avoid this business. The absolute worst customer service and commitment to delivery dates. It has taken us over 8 months from the initial consultation to get our kitchen cabinets done and were still fighting with them back and forth on things they (i) designed wrong (ii) forgot to built or (iii) have to be retrofitted. It all started out as requesting replacement hinges for my 17 yr old cabinets made by Romar. They gave me the two I requested and when I installed them, they were especially wonderful because they had the "New Soft Close technology hinge door was updated now but now I had to have them for all my cabinets. lol So I drove to the south suburbs to Romar to pick up my "cash & carry" hinges. Over 100 for $1.99 a piece! Fantastic! Easy to install and swap out with the old technology! While there, I waited and decided to take a looksie in their showroom. I noticed some great large pantry cabinets and cabinets I was thinking maybe I had room in my existing kitchen to add, which was short of enough cabinets for storage and to my great enjoyment I was able to add a garage cabinet finally! After 17 years! Now having more storage space and the a wonderful match up to my existing cabinets, what they accomplished was amazing! You would never know that it was all the same after all these years the new match with the old cabinets! Great crew, thanks to Jim and Jeff especially, since he designed the additions and came out a couple of times. Great company and workmen-ship shows, well worth the price and reasonable too! read more

Purchased custom cabinets less than six years ago. Contacted Romar when the stain started rubbing off. Was advised my only remedy was to pay them $75 dollars an hour plus material and they would come out and remove the impacted panels which would need to be replaced since the stain had been sprayed on. Or, I could go to Sherwin Williams and see if they could make a matching stain. Very disappointed since this was my second set of cabinets from Romar. My last home was 12 years old when I sold it and cabinets were still in great shape. Would think with any kitchen cabinet, especially custom, that one should be able to expect the stain to stay on them for more than five years. When I asked the tech to elevate my dissatisfaction to management, I heard nothing. read more

Wow, this company is run like a top. My sales rep Alex has been nothing but professional and accommodating. I screwed up on ordering cabinets before I checked inside my soffits (contractor to blame as well) and found out there were pipes in the soffit that were not able to be moved. Unfortunately, I had to pay extra to have Romar re work the upper cabinetry, ugh!!! Even though I am paying extra for this mistake, I am so happy with the cabinetry and the service. I will refer this company to anyone looking for custom cabinetry, they truly are the best. Oh, also delivery guys, James and Paul were so prompt, covered my hardwood floors and were efficient and professional. Thanks to you guys my kitchen will be gorgeous! Ginny K. read more

I have had Romar kichen cabinets in my home for 12 years. I recently had them design an additional built in pantry cabinet. The designer was very accommodating and gave me everything I wanted. I got my cabinets from Romar 5 years ago and couldn't be happier with them. We had a great experience with our salesperson and the quality is excellent. Ted, a technician, came out last week to do some adjustments to doors and replace hinges, due to normal everyday use. He was very professional and did a great job. This is our 3rd home using Romar cabinets and we will never use them again. First let me say that our home was completely destroyed by a tornado so a little empathy to our situation would have been nice. We constantly had to call our salesman again and again before getting return calls. There were so many mistakes in our cabinetry, I cannot even begin to explain in a yelp review - basically, the bottom line is they refused to fix any of their mistakes! I have everything documented with pictures - there are LITERAL CRACKS in several cabinets and our built in ovens/microwave cabinet AND refrigerator surround built in was completely mismeasured and wrong! Their offer of a 'fix' was to piece meal together the surrounds to make them stick out further. We paid extra for column surrounds that were also mismeasured and we had to wait for them to be rebuilt and then when we ordered crown and base, it was also wrong and did not match and we again had to wait. When the tech came out to make adjustments and fix the areas, all he did was color them - all cracks are still very visible. He chipped the column surround on install and they would not replace it. There are SEVERAL places in the decorative trim on the doors that were missed and have absolutely no stain on them whatsoever so we hired a cabinet specialist to fix this because we asked several times for stain and did not receive it. When I went over everyone's head to get to the general manager - he was condescending on the phone, rude in emails, told me to stop emailing their company and when I called the salesman in tears, he called back weeks later and left a message and several men were in the background laughing. He was laughing so hard by the end of the message - it was difficult to understand him. VERY unprofessional and childish to say the least. I referred them to my best friend prior to this experience and she had a similar experience with them. We also had referred them to 2 homeowners in our tornado situation BEFORE we knew any of this and they too had several situations. Our neighbor was so unhappy with their work (they bought our old home & Romar did those cabinets), they tore them out themselves and hired someone else at their own expense. They had me in tears too many times to count and by far the worst staff I have ever dealt with. Our salesman was mike martin and John Horn was the general manager. Mike Joho was the shop manager that miscut the crown and trim and column. Ted was the tech. PLEASE - do yourself a favor - do NOT use this cabinet company! Go to Brakur instead in Joliet/Shorewood - they actually helped us and sent a specialist out to fix what he could/matched our stain and corrected every mistake they could for us that Romar refused to fix and then - Brakur didn't even charge us!!!!! Brakur was awesome! They will be getting a stellar review! I have called an attorney and notified the Better Business Bureau because this experience was so bad and very difficult to swallow after what we had just gone through. OH and by the way, because of Romar, we were behind on our completion for our home, ran out of time with insurance and had to fix several things at our own expense. read more
