My floors are complicated because my home is over 100 years old and there are no subfloors; the floors lie on a pretty peculiar structure. Not only did the resulting floors have structural issues, the stain and finish were all wrong. The flooring team splashed stain on my walls and dripped polyurethane throughout my house! My wife and I recently decided to put down new flooring in our condo. We did the bedroom ourselves and were then convinced that the rest of the unit should be finished by professionals--not that we did a bad job, it was just much more difficult and took far longer than we anticipated. We got six quotes from reputable businesses, all of which fell within $100 of each other. What set SHF apart was their senior installer (and owner, I believe) Scott Callejo. He was polite and professional. He made sure he understood our vision. He explained, in detail, every step of his work process, from demolition to finishing touches. He complimented our effort on the bedroom floors and offered to fix up some of our small errors for no extra charge. He also discussed the variables that could increase cost and work time so there would be no surprises. Finally, he promised to leave our home clean at the end of every work day. Scott also said we could save money if I was home to help move furniture around. This was the week between Christmas and New Year's and I happened to be off work. We asked if he could come in the next day and do the job while I was home. Luckily, he was able to move his schedule around to accommodate ours. Scott was true to his word. The first day was only a half day (due to our short notice) but he and his staff were able to complete the demolition and still leave our home clean and orderly. They do not remove or move the furniture. You are responsible for that. Sanded, stained applied to coats of finish and refinished floors in 2 days. Living room, dining room and kitchen. Everything went fine with only a few snafus that lowered them from a 5 to a 4. These snafus are: 1st day left at lunch w/o letting my husband know they where leaving and actually done for the day. Also left the 2nd day without a good bye either. Would be more professional and courteous to let the homeowners know. Next, they left their garbage by my front door. And they dumped a can of dust debris on my lawn. Lastly they they left the lights on in the rooms. Since I cannot walk on the floors for a day...this did not make me happy. As for the quality of their work I am very happy and the pics show they did do a great job. Without the snafus they would have gotten 5 stars from me. I also would recommend them.
