That's a lot of history, and a relationship like that means something to us. Most recently, Animal Advocates got our young cat, Jolie, in quickly when we had concerns about her breathing. Dr. Overla listened carefully to what we were seeing, took our concerns seriously, and gave thoughtful consideration to how best to approach her care. During a follow-up conversation, she was genuinely glad we called, took the time to walk us through her thinking, answered our questions, and made sure we understood where we go from here. I also have to give Dr. Overla a lot of credit for her patience with me. I have a tendency to jump into conversations with questions and thoughts as they occur to me , especially when I'm concerned about one of our fur babies, and I can get a little long-winded (i.e., this review, but hey, it's a nearly 20-year relationship! ). She somehow manages to roll right along with me while still making sure she gets through everything she needs to explain. That patience does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Over the years, we've seen several of the doctors at Animal Advocates, and the team has been there through routine care, illnesses, unexpected situations, and some very difficult goodbyes. Dr. Bellasario, in particular, played an instrumental role in saving the lives of two of our beloved fur babies, Puff and Sparkle, making sure they got the specialized care they needed when they needed it. The nurses and receptionist are friendly and attentive. Dr. Lynch took time to explain in great detail what all of my Boston terrier's lab results meant, rather than just giving me a bottom line. When it came time to pay for the services, I was mindful of how much I as a human appreciate insurance. You do pay for this level of care. The office visit was $54. It cost about $200 for blood and urine tests. 14 pills and 12 cans of special dog food set me back about $80. I'd say my dog was worth the expense, and she is. But, part of the reason I came here was because I thought Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital was too expensive. It seems that if you want quality, you have to pay for it.

They were quick to respond to my email inquiries, honest with their costs and procedures (which were very fair), and setting up an initial appointment was simple. You can book an appointment using their online portal, or call/contact them directly. They had a good range of available booking slots, and we were able to set one up within a very reasonable time frame. The Family Paws Veterinary Clinic was easy to find, it's located in the corner spot of the strip mall, found at 22 mile and VanDyke Rd; so there is plenty of parking. The front of the Clinic is full windows, and the interior was neat, clean and organized. The staff greeted me immediately, and were great with my 9 week old pup. From the quaint waiting area up front, you could clearly view the unisex restroom and a couple exam rooms to the left, while there were more exam rooms around a corner at the other side. My pup and I were brought to our room after a short wait, everything there was also well cleaned and organized, and my appointment ran perfectly on time. From the techs, to the vets, to the reception, all of the staff were friendly, polite and professional. I felt comfortable with my pet in their care. At the end, check out was easy with a clear receipt of what procedures occurred. I am also happy to report a quick response to a lab that had been sent out for testing; I recieved a phone call with the results in less than two days. Overall, I'm very happy with my selection of Family Paws as our new Veterinary Clinic, and we have already booked our pup's next appointment with them.
