Surveyed four ironworks contractors identified by AI. Sent description of problem and photos of damaged railings to these contractors. Three responded. One offered "ballpark price" that might change after work began. Only Charlie of CJ Steel and Ironworks came to inspect the problem and explain how the railings would be fixed. He shared his experience with similar problems. He gave me a quote on the spot, which I accepted. It was 30% less than the "ballpark price" offer. His team came a few weeks later to perform the work. They were very professional and clearly knew what they were doing. Charlie also came to supervise the progress. They performed a fabulous job. I responded to my emailed quote the same day to clarify whether the recommendation of the contractor was only to replace the gate or if I should go ahead and plan to replace the entire fence as well. 2 days after no response, I called the office, and was directed to the contractors' office line as he was supposed to be in. I ended up leaving a voice message. The following week, after no response, I called again and was directed to the project manager, who was not familiar with the project, and said he would text the owner and the contractor to follow up. I'm trying to help you out because the company is making changes and they may not want to give you your deposit back."Each time I repeated I felt comfortable with my decision, he would respond in a very unprofessional manner as though he could bully me into changing my mind. This man has to be at least 6'6 " or 6'7 250. I am a 5 '2 woman. His behavior was extremely unacceptable, and he would not have responded that way if I were a male. He then responded, "I'm having issues scanning in my cancellation form, "and attempted to keep the form, telling me he scanned it in his file.
