She proceeded to tell me that they do not have any breaded haddock left to fill my order. I told her that I called in the morning to place the order so I wasn't quite sure how they couldn't have any for me. That is the purpose of ordering ahead. She stated that they were very busy and ran out. Meanwhile, while I'm talking to her, my brother-in-law was in line to pick up the order. She stated that they could fill my order next week Friday. I told her I have people at my house now for dinner. She then transferred me to someone else. I believe she said she was transferring me to the general manager or manager. He came on the phone asking how he could help me. Did she not tell him why she called me?! So I told him what she told me. He basically said the same thing. They were very busy and ran out of the breaded haddock. He also mentioned that they could fill my order for next Friday. Then he suggested one of the other types of fish, at a much higher price. He also stated that they probably didn't have 5 pounds of any type of fish to sell me. I can't believe they would run a business like that. Offering fish for next week wasn't a solution. We tried a chicken soup Monterrey jack and a mustard Gouda, both of which we really enjoyed. The room is decorated and bright, and felt like a great spot to stop on a Saturday afternoon. It's a nice change of pace from the usually-crowded bars through downtown Cedarburg. You should be aware that the tasting room apparently can't serve charcuterie boards themselves because of the class of license (maybe no food service cert.) but they're happy to help you enjoy any of the cheeses you purchased in the store and offer you some wine(s) to accompany them. The bartender graciously offered us some crackers to go with the plate and we were able to put together a satisfying little wine tasting experience! The one thing I would like to see is a few more wines on offer for the wine flights; at the time, they were a bit heavy on sweet white wines, which is just not my taste but may be popular in the area. All of the frozen items were in chest freezers, which made it difficult to dig through compared to standing freezers, and nothing was labeled with a weight or price, so it's a blind guess as to how much you're spending. The owner was pleasant, but the lady working behind the counter was flustered and rude. I asked to have one of the packages of brats weighed so I could try to figure out what things cost. She rolled her eyes, heavily sighed, and slightly ripped the brats out of my hand to weigh them. She had calmed down by the time I eventually checked out, but I didn't appreciate the reaction to a reasonable question earlier. I wouldn't go back. There are so many other meat markets north of Milwaukee that look better, have a better selection, and I've not experienced poor customer service at.
